I think my child is trans but he hasn't told me

My DS has a bag of women's clothing in his wardrobe and a bag of makeup. I found them whilst looking for cups. He hasn't told me but I am worried that he is hiding things from. What should I do?

Well he did just text me asking if we can talk when he gets home so I will see what he needs to talk about.

Imagine having the time... that would turn me on...

Update: He told me that he feels like he was meant to be a woman before I had even brought up the dresses and makeup. He said he wants to use She/They pronouns and be called Maria

As a woman you should definitely do some reading before you decide if this is something you want to support. Look up AGP. read Helen Joyce book trans. Material girls by Kathleen stock. Think about how comfortable you would be with a male born person who identifies as a woman doing your intimate care if you become disabled or sick when you have specified you want a woman. If you were in prison would you be happy to share with a trans woman or be intimately searched by a male who says he's a woman. Did you see the Olympic boxing? How do you feel about male born 'women' taking prizes grants and jobs that are set aside for the equality and comfort of women?

On the face of it we all tend to want to be kind and supportive. Everyone deserves safety and a life free from abuse. But when you look deeper the trans movement is doing terrible damage to woman's rights and horrible things are happening to our children. Just looking up the statistics on crime will show you trans women do not commit the sort of crimes women do and the proportion in prison for sec crimes is much higher than the proportion of men in for sex crimes. It's a dangerous sexual fetish in post pubescent males

Please read the Cass review and the advice from Bayswater Support Group. This will help you navigate this difficult situation.
Has he spent a lot of time online? This is where the idea of being trans usually comes from. Is he autistic? A lot of autistic young people are identifying themselves as trans.

I have looked at both and I am shocked at the level this has gone to the fact they are letting children think they are trans.

Until he's 18 plus I don't think you should support him using hormones or trying to get surgery.

Apologies as this is a late response, but please do not take the advice of these other replies, please accept your son for who he/she is. If you do research outside of biased sources, and read scientific research you will see that children are not being harmed, and trans people are being villianized. I know it’s been a while so you’ve probably already made an action but please hear your son/daughter out and understand that this is most likely NOT sexual or a fetish, as I’ve rarely seen that in this age. this is just her expressing herself most likely. I truly wish you two the best and hope you two are still on good terms! if you see this please share an update x

Yes, I consider the humans right campaign to be a unbiased source, it’s not a company just based on trans people it’s literally about human rights in general, and the associated press is one of the most unbiased sources aswell. The cass report itself found social transitions had no negative or positive effects and had an inconclusive report? But since you want scientific as well here you go! You can’t really do better than Yale lol! Trans people are not after your children they are trying to find a life for themselves! God will strike you down for your hatred when the time comes.

For parents of trans identifying kids I think arguing about data and science is pretty futile. I do think the Cass review is the best we have. Academic institutions in the UK and US have been captured by gender ideology.

But this is not what I want to raise here.

I recently read some text by Cosmo Landesman. His son sadly took his own life at the age of 29. He wrote some words that really resonated with me as the parent of a trans identifying, ASD, ADHD, depressed and anxious kid. I wanted to share this here as I hope it might help others maintain perspective.

He wrote:

“When we stick a label or diagnosis on someone, that’s how we see them. The part — the troubling part that causes parents distress — becomes greater than the whole.
I think it’s possible to lose sight of your love for someone — but that doesn’t mean that the love is gone forever. Other things — problems, rows, anger — just get in the way and we lose sight of them and our love.”

Let us not lose sight of our love for our kids.

I focus on this now and not gender labelling.

how do you know God won’t strike you down for having the arrogance to think his creations are less than perfect? That he has made mistakes putting the wrong souls into the wrong bodies?
