Yes. I was!

People ring my firm or ask me directly to do legal stuff for free all the time and it’s a joke. And if I say it’s not my area or you’ll need to book an appointment they look at me like I’ve three heads.

And I see “you’re entitled to a free half hour” all the time on here and it pisses me off.

Yes I see this free half hour nonsense a lot. It would take me longer than that just to explain to a solicitor what my legal problem is about!

I think it should be a pinned bit on the legal board. Remember a thread where a poster was advising you could just go round all the lawyers building your case at a half hour each....

Barristers only normally take pro bono if it’s an important case and will be a reported case. It’s career driven quite often and certainly won’t be routine.
