I really think you’re going to have to give some context if you want help op.

KimTheresPeopleThatAreDying · 03/09/2025 16:25

What country? Whereabouts? What’s the issue being heard? What kind of hearing? When?

Someone who understands coercive/controlling abuse (identified by CAFCASS as consistent with my ex’s behaviour over several years)

Do you not qualify for legal aid?

Bogpinkbear · 03/09/2025 16:47

You agreed to a court order.

And your daughter was awarded a place at a school based on that court order.

And now you want that court order set aside in the next 3 days?

You’re going to struggle. I’m sorry. Especially pro bono.

The school she’s going to isn’t that bad from your earlier thread. Just big it up to her and put your big girl pants on and send her there.

NooNooMummy · 03/09/2025 16:47

Don’t think so. For domestic abuse? But nothing recent. Not if means-tested

This isn't the type of case that someone is likely to do for free Im afraid.

I agree with this. I’m sorry.

Mrsttcno1 · 03/09/2025 16:55

If I understand correctly OP this is all by the court order and so there is absolutely nothing you can do in the next 3 days.

You’re going to struggle to find anyone to take this on for you for free, but even if you can find someone it will not be sorted in 3 days time.

FattyMcFattyArse · 03/09/2025 20:31

Why would you expect any lawyer to do work for free?

user764329056 · 03/09/2025 21:04

Family member was entitled to legal aid but still took months to find solicitor who would take them on, it’s a difficult situation

vivainsomnia · 04/09/2025 11:49

You agreed to put that school as a first choice. Unfortunately, that's that. What was the point of agreeing and making it a court order to expecting an immediate change because you've changed your mind?

PollyBell · 04/09/2025 11:51

Why are you drip feeding?

I think people think there are lawyers just sitting around twiddling their thumbs waiting for someone to ask them to work for free..

The number of people I get calling my firm every day expecting me to give them free advice is ridiculous. They basically want the entire answer/solution given to them over the phone without any ID checks/file opening etc and then to disappear off into the sunset. Why would I do that?

Same at my firm. Average hourly wage for our fee earners is £480. Nobody does anything, let alone give advice, for free

That's half an hour for a chat to get a handle on what sort of help you need. No lawyer is really able to give you legal advice in that time. Let alone start writing letters or court applications. We would all love to have free legal advice but it's just not out there without paying for it. Which seems right to me as they are proper professionals. You wouldn't expect a free haircut or nail extensions, would you?

Sorry, I thought you were saying that the OP can get half an hour for free. That's what your words read as to me. Were you being sarcastic? Sorry I missed that!
