Got a speeding ticket. Have worked out dh was driving but he doesn't use that road on his way to work...

And is adamant he didn't that day. The ticket is for 35/30 zone on a road that runs across/under the road he would have been on going 60mph.
There is the option of speed awareness rather than 3points so he would take that instead. We are just confused over how it would have happened. He is also convinced he was in work at 2:15 and the ticket was 2:11 about 20 mins away.

I assume it's not worth challenging but is there a chance to see the picture without court?

There's no obligation to provide a pic afaik abd they are rarely conclusive.
I'd consider all the times he has not been caught speeding and pay up.

That was one of my thoughts Blush but he started work at 2:30 and I know how many hours he works as hes paid p/h and I check pay slips as they are often wrong
He left home at 1:30 so 2:15 would be right for arriving too.

Netbook- I've suggested checking work CCTV but we aren't sure they keep it v long.

You can request proof without going to court. DH did this and they sent a pic with his gormless face clear as a bell Grin

Agree -request proof - you could clearly see it was my dh in his speeding photo!!

get him to do the speed awareness course (or do it yourself if you like) - even if it's a mistake the course is a good opportunity to take stock of whether the risks versus the benefits of speeding are really worth it. I found it kind of interesting food for thought. The course doesn't give you points or a record and it's not worth the hassle of fighting about it.

I would ask for a picture, it's a long shot but people do copy car number plates and put them on other cars.

Cars can be 'cloned' - your reg number can be used on another car. Request proof if you're in doubt.

Does his car reg have any "0" or "O"s in it? If so, it could have been confused with another car. Unlikely, but possible.

Yes, my DM had her car 'cloned'. Only figured it out when she didn't get tax reminders. Definitely worth checking.

If he's hourly paid there must be a confirmed timesheet or other clock card type evidence to prove he was in work? But it sounds like it should be possible to get a photo.

Is it your car? are they saying that it was you that was driving? if so isnt this a case where you can state that you werent driving and therefore you shouldnt get penalised.

If you have worked out that DH could have been driving on that road, it wasnt you, and it wasnt your car. If it wasnt him in his car either?

I'd Challenge it if i were sure that it was wrong.

It's my car but he was driving. He will take the course cos it's less hassle/costs than court but can't work out how he was there. It's so close to where he should have been too but not a way he would have been diverted to.

Harr1et, I'd have to know. I'd need to know why either he was being penalised for something he hasn't done (not right however insignificant the penalty) or why he wasn't where he was supposed to be. Can't be that hard to prove he was at work.

I know 2 people who had this with hire cars but it was before they hired it! when they asked for the photo it was crystal clear it wasn't them

the photo was also clear enough to see the licence plate which i guess is more relevant in this case

We've done another map search Blush and found that there is a break in the a road which then continues near his work where the speed limit changes from 60-30

He is guilty and will take the course.

OK, but for the record you can go online and see the photo taken - depending on what sort of camera "clocked" him.

Just in case anyone was thinking of doing a Huhne anything potentially illegal and getting confused about who was driving.

Know what you mean got a parking ticket and sure I was at work at the time - picture of my formless face too!

DH also done for speeding took the course and it is not too painful and you keep your licence clean ish and insurance kosher.

And the course is VERY effective. It's changed my driving habits completely
