Recently found out we're pregnant with number 4, bit of a surprise and tbh we're not entirely sure what to do
The biggest issue being space

We live in a 3 bed, atm the eldest 2 have their own rooms and the baby is still in with us, we may have to get an extension just to give the baby a bedroom so no idea where we would put a 4th
How do you all work it with multiple children? Do you all live in mansions?

4DC, 4 bedrooms

DD11 - her own room
DS10 and DS6 - share
DD2 - her own room
Me and DH - in master bedroom

When I was pregnant with DC4, who shared with who came down to what gender DC4 turned out to be.

uhoh2016 · 18/08/2016 04:31

3dc and 2 bedrooms. Baby still in with me for now (he's 18m) in the bigger room. Will swap rooms next year so the 3dc will share the biggest room and me and dh will have the smaller room

CheerfulYank · 18/08/2016 05:12

I've got three DC in a three bed. Right now we're in the process of redoing the rooms and then DS1 (9 yrs) and Ds2 (1 yr) will share the master bedroom while DH and I take the medium room and 3 year old DD has the tiny one to herself.

I'd like another child but it will have to wait until we can get a loan and build my dream master suite off the back. :o

We have a six bed end terrace, with five dc and one more (last) on the way. The house has three floors, with three bedrooms on the first and second floors each. Currently dcs 4 & 5 are sharing, so one bedroom is free. When baby is born, he will sleep with us for a good couple of years. We have plenty of space - and I'm very glad for it.

Artandco · 18/08/2016 07:01

The - they are 5 and 6. Same arrangement since they were born.

Zippidydoodah · 18/08/2016 08:06

Art- do you all have separate beds? Sorry for the nosey questions. My dc definitely wake each other up at stupid o'clock when they share, bit for them it's an enjoyable novelty and not something they've just grown up doing, like yours have.

We have 4 beds, 3 dc and one on the way. Haven't decided yet who will be sharing! Older two dc have big rooms, and if baby is a boy we could even have two boys sharing and two girls sharing, so it's "fair" for all and so we have the smallest room as a spare.

Zippidydoodah · 18/08/2016 08:06

PS NoCapes- how are you doing? Flowers

Artandco · 18/08/2016 08:11

Zipp- yes, we have a super king bed and bunk beds now. But they prefer sharing our large bed or the bottom bunk together half the time.

NoCapes · 18/08/2016 17:23

You all have no idea how lucky you are to have bedrooms big enough to give you options! I'd be happy if ours were big enough for beds!

Stressed Zippidy really really stressed, how are you?

Size 11. There are loads of them, I hardly know what to do. I have to cook on a camping stove so the best I can do is broth. I need the kids thin, anyway, to fit them all in. And, don't flame me, I have to take a firm hand with them, if you know what I mean. There's no peace in here until they're all asleep, so I send them all to bed at six o'clock, even the nineteen-year-old. Its a nightmare.

Zippidydoodah · 18/08/2016 20:47

Timelytess- 🙄

NoCapes- feeling like crap and stressed too. Thinking of you.

TheWeeBabySeamus1 · 18/08/2016 21:07

I've only got one Dc in a 2 bed house so we have a room each.

Growing up there were 4 kids and my mum in a 3 bed house. Me and my sister shared the middle room, older brother had the box room and when my younger brother was born he shared the room with my mum. When older brother moved out I got the box room but wouldn't have minded sharing with my sister. Poor little brother ended up sharing a room with my mum until he was 9.

One of my friends growing up lived in a similar sized house but they had a parlour room downstairs - there were 10 kids plus mum and dad.

You'll find a way to fit them all in somewhere so don't worry too much. Smile Flowers

My ds2 and dd share, my ds1 has own room and Fchild has own room. We are moving to give ds2 and dd own rooms although not sure why I'm bothering as most nights they share a bed, even though they have bunk beds, they are 6&7.

Zippidydoodah · 19/08/2016 14:50

Twopots- Fchild?

Twopots · 19/08/2016 15:02

Foster

NetballHoop · 19/08/2016 15:10

4 children in a 4 bedroom house until last year when we extended and added a 5th bedroom.

The youngest 2 shared happily but did spend hours talking every night so we needed to split them up.

Zippidydoodah · 19/08/2016 15:14

Ah! Thanks Smile

ThereIsIron · 19/08/2016 15:21

3 bed bungalow. 2 adults. 2 DD, 1 DS. DS had smallest room. DDs bunked in other room until they were 11/8. Then we did a loft conversion to get 2 additional large bedrooms and another shower/toilet.

Imnotacelebgetmeouttahere · 19/08/2016 21:56

4dc in 3 bed house ( however the separate dining room is being used as a bedroom)

Bed 1 ( middle sized) us
Bed 2 largest - ds2 and ds3
Bed 3 - teeny can't fit a film size single - DD
Dining room - ds1

EllenDegenerate · 28/08/2016 00:07

Four DC I'm currently growing number 5.

We have a large Victorian semi with three double bedrooms.
OH and I in the master, girls in one bedroom, boys in another. (Two of each)

Baby will share with us for a year and then I want to move to a five bed.

WatchingFromTheWings · 28/08/2016 00:14

3 bed, me & DP in one room; DS, 16 in one room; DS, 5 has smallest bedroom; DD, 14 has front lounge as her bedroom. Hoping did attic room and extension next year though!

Bjjth8983 · 28/08/2016 12:39

We have 7 in are house, 2 adults 5 children, all in a 3 bedroom house, 5yr old daughter and 7yr old son in 1 room, 11 son and 4 yr old son in another and 2 yr old on toddler bed still in are room, space is an issue but we just have to deal with what we have.

Surf25 · 31/08/2016 20:41

We have four bedrooms, two very large, one a double and one is a single room that we use as a study at the moment. We expecting dts. At the moment we have the master bedroom, dds (5 and 6 yrs) share the other big room and ds (1) has the double. If dts are boys we will probably move into the double and put all three boys in the master. If they are girls then they will probably have the double, ds the single room and we and the older dds will stay where we are. Not sure how it will work but not really keen to move at the moment!!

auntym · 25/10/2016 14:06

Four bedrooms and 2 dc. DP and I in the master bedroom, dc have a small double bedroom each, box room will become an office (or possible bedroom for 3rd child) in future. Good luck Smile
