Anybody here got a large family but didn't have your first baby until you were later 20s or early 30s? How many children do you have?

My first pregnancy was age 26 - although twins deffo helps bump numbers up quickly!! I have 4 now although only planned to have 3 Shock

5kidsnobump · 05/07/2013 07:51

I had my first just before my 30th birthday. Am now 36 and have 5 DC. It is possible but it is a lot of work having the kids all so close together in age. We are definately not having any more, although theoretically people do go on to have babies into their 40's so I guess we could have more, but I am far to knackered to go for that option (and DH had the snip before no. 5 was born Grin)

harrygracejessica · 05/07/2013 13:07

I was 27 when I had my first, 28 when I had 2and 3 and 30 when I had 4and 5. There will be no more though!

imip · 05/07/2013 14:57

I have 4 dds. I was 34 when my first baby was born. She was sadly still born. Eleven months later, at 35, I had my first surviving dd. I had dd4 at 40. It's definately doable to have a lot of kids later in life, but you have to have factors like good fertility etc in your favour. And then if you are lucky, it is incredibly hard work, you can't underestimate the toll it takes on your body. Still glad to have had them 'later'.

juule · 05/07/2013 18:08

First at 27, 9th at almost 44 :)

Xenia · 05/07/2013 18:41

I was 20s for the first 3 and twins in 30s and there is about 13 years between oldest and the youngest two.

Animol · 06/07/2013 03:41

28, 32, 34, 36 and I'll be 43 when DC5 comes along :)

prissyenglisharriviste · 06/07/2013 04:03

Well. I mean, if you start when you are in your late twenties, you'll only manage to fit about 14 singletons in. How many are you planning, op? Grin

StupidFlanders · 06/07/2013 04:37

My first was just before I turned 30, my 5th at 36.

I never felt older until the last pregnancy when the dr asked me sincerely why I left it so late! When I said I was the first of my friends to have children he said "yes but they probably stopped at 2".

Whojamaflip · 06/07/2013 05:53

4dcs - first at 28 last at 35

1st at 26, 2nd at 28, 3rd at 33, 4th at 35 and would love more

ZingWidge · 10/07/2013 12:28

my Fertility CV is :

DS1 at 26 (just before 27th birthday)

DS2 at 28 (just before 29th birthday)

DS3 at 30

DS4 at 32

MC at 34 Sad

DS5 at 35

DD at 37

I'd like 2 more, and as I'm 40 next year and would love to have another one before that birthday (secretly hoping for twins, so I can be done!)

But DH has had enough and most days I agree with him. they are exhausting.
And I'm in a "I'm a rubbish mum" phase, so maybe best to stop. I don't know

Threetofour · 11/08/2013 12:57

I had

DS at 26
Mc at 27
Dd1 at 28
Dd2 at 30

girlsyearapart · 12/08/2013 22:31

I have 4 the first was born when I was 28, second at 29 third at 31 fourth at 32.

Done now

redwellybluewelly · 12/08/2013 22:35

Rhis came up on active threads and it was a huge boost for me to read.

My first I had at 32, my second at 35 (nine weeks ago) ans I would absolutely love to have a third. DH is four years older than me and refuses to entertain the idea

Thinkingofmyfabfour · 13/08/2013 11:15

redwelly my dh is 45. He was not keen on no 4 initially so I didn't push it, once ds3 became more settled he agreed and we had dd 4 weeks ago. No regrets, but definitely no more. Being a slightly older dad has motivated dh to get fit, he started running a few years ago and now does half marathons and runs 10k three times a week, so for us his age is not an issue or problem, in fact it's probably a benefit as I don't think he'd be so fit otherwise!

LimeLeaafLizard · 15/08/2013 23:27

Ooh just noticed Thinkingof - I remember talking to you before you decided to have your 4th! Congratulations on your DD!

TheHattifattenersBarometer · 18/08/2013 20:50

DC1 33
DC2 35
DC3 37

RoastedCouchPotatoes · 20/08/2013 16:01

DC1- 27
DC2- 28
DC3- 30
DC4- 31
