How many ttc #4 and ended up with twins?

We're currently trying to conceive #4 but I'm slightly freaked out by chances being increased of conceiving twins! (Age, previous pgs etc)

I know of one couple this has happened to (friends of friends) but how much is the chance increased really?

Has anyone got any experience of this?

My Mum - and she didn't know number five was there until she gave birth. Six years later a condom split and here I am.....

I ttc number 2 and got 2 and 3 then failed contraception has resulted in 4 and 5 on the way!!

LittleYellowTeapot · 03/12/2010 21:29

My friend went for #5 and got #5 and #6!
She wouldn't change a thing though!

My dad is a twin. They are numbers 3 and 4 in his family. They're identical though, so it really is just a fluke.

mousymouse · 06/12/2010 14:41

a friend of mine has twin that were conceived separately.
there were tests because there were paternity issues and it turned out that the twins were from different fathers.

strumpet82 · 06/12/2010 15:51

WOW mousymouse, twins by different fathers, I didn't even know that was possible!!!

buttonmoon78 · 06/12/2010 16:44

I knew it was possible but I thought it was in the realms of Take a Break etc

Congrats button ihave 3 dc and hoped for twins every time even though it would have been unlikely. :)

harrygracejessica · 07/12/2010 15:48

Never say never to twins though as Identicals can happen to anyone - we have no twins in my side (twins run on the girls side not the mans side) and we are having our 2nd set so it really can happen to anyone and im just obviously really lucky!

Maybee · 07/12/2010 19:04

Congratultions harrygj :)

Maybee · 07/12/2010 19:05

Congratulations I mean

mum2all · 16/12/2010 10:04

I had our second set earlier this year harryg - hard work but so worth it!
Our first set were 5 & 6, thought we'd try for 7 and got 7 & 8 in the same go!

ID Twins run in my family (and yes, ID twins can run in families, the hospital got very excited over me) but all my 4 were singletons (thank goodness).
Great-grandmother had twins for her 4th pregnancy, though (she was 36).
My other twin relatives were teenage first pregnancies.

LittleYellowTeapot · 16/12/2010 11:51

Glad all went well with the scan.

For some reason, twin talk makes me reeeeally broody Grin

QuadMummy · 21/12/2010 20:29

We went for #4 and am now pregnant with #4, #5, #6 and #7!
