Was looking for one of the IVF monthly threads but didn't see any, so thought I'd start one!

I'm on day 7 of stimming so I guess egg collection will be coming up soonish? It's my first cycle, so still new to this.

I'm on Bemfola 150 UI every day, and have recently added in Fyremadel. It's going really well overall! I use numbing cream and my husband does the injections for me. I'm starting to get some discomfort though, it's like I can feel my ovaries when I walk and I'm definitely bloated. Trying to drink lots of water and eat protein.

I have another scan and blood test tomorrow, so fingers crossed things are advancing well! I'm in France, but everything seems fairly similar to the UK so far to be honest.

Anyone else also in the throes of injections?

Good luck with your cycle and collection. I dont start stims for another 2 weeks. Just waiting for my period to start which should be on the 14th but its never on time so we will see. My meds have been ordered and now its just the waiting game. This will be my last cycle.

Miraclemuma03 · 16/10/2026 20:56

How are you going on your stims or have you had collection now?

I carry a chromosome translocation, so we need IVF with genetic testing (PGT-SR). After being told our postcode and my older child ruled out NHS funding, we spent around £14,000 on a cycle that sadly left us with no embryos.

We’re still hoping there’s a chance for us, but misleading information and delays may mean we’ve now missed the age cut-off.

We’ve started a petition for fairer access—even if it comes too late for us, we want things to change for others. Please sign and share will your followers if you can. It would mean so much 🤍 x.

We have our (first ever) egg collection scheduled for Tuesday and have just taken the trigger an hour ago. Feeling anxious and a bit nauseous

ThatAmberSeal · 19/10/2026 11:06

Ah I was looking for this thread! Thanks for starting @EggsistentialCrisis

Good luck for tomorrow @IWillBeWaxingAnOwl I hope you're feeling ok this morning.

I'm scheduled for my third egg retrieval tomorrow (Tuesday). Took ovitrelle and buserelin triggers last night and I am pretty uncomfortable this morning.

EggsistentialCrisis · 19/10/2026 11:26

@Ourgenesanddreams Unfortunately I'm not in the UK so can't sign myself, but I'm so sorry for your struggles and wish you the very best of luck x

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl Good luck! I had mine on the 5th and it was honestly a breeze. I ended up with mild OHSS and it took about 10 days to fully recover, probably 3-4 days on the sofa feeling very sorry for myself. I was also nervous, but everyone was so lovely and it went by quickly.

In the end we've had to wait an extra cycle as they were worried about OHSS straight after the collection, so no fresh transfer for me. I don't mind though, to be honest. It's given me an extra month to recover and take it easy, also we somehow ended up with guests in the house around the exact time I would've had the transfer, so not ideal. I'm guessing my transfer will be around the end of the month, so fingers crossed. I'm excited!

@ThatAmberSeal Good luck for tomorrow, too! I was super uncomfortable and incredibly bloated before my retrieval, I almost needed help getting in and out of bed, so I commiserate!

Hey, how is everyone.. sorry to jump on. I'm currently 7dp5dt. So desperately want to test lol

EggsistentialCrisis · 19/10/2026 22:57

@NHE The more the merrier! I can imagine the itch to test is unbearable. When are you going to? Or rather when are you allowed to, hahah. Is this your first round?

I'm ok, got the all clear from my clinic today that we can go ahead with the frozen transfer so I imagine it'll be sometime at the end of next week. Looking forward to doing the next step, and I have a beauty advent calendar DH surprised me with for the 2WW, so that'll be fun and take my mind off it 😂

@EggsistentialCrisis official test date for me is Friday , I was tempted to do today but woke up this morning and am actually too scared to lol. Yes it's my first IVF cycle , but have been TTC for 18 months...

Is this your first time?

EggsistentialCrisis · 20/10/2026 07:10

@NHE Hahah I get it, I think I'll be the same. Its like you're excited to hopefully see a line, but you're also so far "along" that if it's negative it really is a burst bubble. Whereas right now you're in this limbo where you could be pregnant and it's quite nice to still have hope. Schrodinger's pregnancy!

How did your cycle go overall? Did you have the full medicated cycle? This is also my first although been TTC for 4 years. I took a years "break" because I knew my mental health wasn't in the best place and I'm really glad I did tbh.

OP posts:
NHE · 20/10/2026 07:43

@EggsistentialCrisis yea it's negative, im now going to not test till the actual test date.

Cycle went ok , I didn't respond to the medication very well which was not ideal. We only had two viable follicles and in the end only one egg. That one egg did fight though and made it to transfer. So hoping it's sticking..

What about you?

EggsistentialCrisis · 20/10/2026 15:39

@NHE Sorry to hear that, it's such a minefield, isn't it. I'll cross my fingers for you for Friday.

Oh no, did you have unpleasant symptoms? It only takes one! Although I know that's not super reassuring at the moment.

It went well for me, my husband did the injections for me so that helped as I'm a baby when it comes to needles. Some of them were sore, but I used numbing cream which also helped loads. My clinic only gives us breadcrumbs of information though, so I'm in the dark 99% of the time. I didn't even know for certain that they wanted to go with a fresh transfer until the day of my egg collection, which then changed to a frozen as I had mild OHSS. So it can be frustrating!

OP posts:
NHE · 20/10/2026 17:59

@EggsistentialCrisis That's ok , too early to test anyway I was being silly.

I actually had 0 symptoms lol , I was doing the injections myself (hubby was back up but I prefer doing these things myself). I think my dose was a bit meh. But my one little warrior egg made it far. So hopefully it stuck!

i have a low egg reserve and potentially endometriosis, as well as a missing thyroid due to cancer. So the poor thing really having to fight the odds 🤣

Are you doing it privately or through the NHS (actually think I saw you say you're not in the UK?). I'm glad you guys can go ahead with frozen , do you know when that will be? Crazy how different these processes are for everyone!!

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 20/10/2026 18:04

Egg collection went well (12 eggs, will find out what fertilised tomorrow). Lining is too poor for fresh transfer so any embryos will be frozen

Feeling a bit crap now though - sore abdomen!

12 eggs is great! I hope you get a good fertilisation rate.

@NHE im sorry to read about your negative but honestly it could be too early. I hope you have a turn around come the end of the week.

I ended up getting my period over the weekend so had to race to the clinic on monday morning for my bloods, pick up meds, do a quick tutorial on how to prep my new stims and get my plan organised. Im on day 3 now and so far the side effects are headaches and indigestion.

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 21/10/2026 12:01

Unfortunately not @Miraclemuma03 - we are already down to 3.

12 retrieved
9 mature
3 damaged by ICSI
Of 6 where sperm met egg, 3 haven't progressed
Leaving us with 3 starting to develop

EggsistentialCrisis · 21/10/2026 15:04

@NHE Totally get it, I always used to test super early I knew there was essentially no chance of getting pregnant naturally, so you're preaching to the choir, lol.

Christ that's a lot that you've had to deal with, it's clearly a very strong embryo to be fighting all of that! The hormones really do make you feel all over the place, don't they. Do you have any symptoms so far?

I'm in France, so the system is a bit different. Everything is completely free for me (4 rounds for free, after that you start paying but I think it's about 3k per cycle) and I also got to choose my clinic, so I went with one my friend used previously and got her daughter from. They're a great clinic, but the communication is very...French :) I actually had a call with my doctor today and she just said it'll be this cycle as long as my lining etc gets to where it needs to be, which they're monitoring with scans and bloods. It's a completely "natural" frozen transfer, so no meds at all. Bit daunting because it feels like they can't control as much, but very nice not to have to take any injections.

I also got my period on the weekend and had no one to talk to! Felt very scary because I was scared I'd miss the beginning, but they weren't concerned in the slightest and just sent me for a scan and meds on the Monday. How are you finding the injections? Is this your first cycle?

Yea , she's a fighter 🤣 we will see what Friday brings. It's so daunting !!

Love the comment about communication hahaha !! Very exciting that this might be your cycle though, I've got everything crossed for a very sticky embryo!!!

I'm now too terrified to test again, tomorrow better go fast!

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl three is a good lil number , you only need one to make it to the finish line!!

Don't lose hope !

I know. I'm trying to be brave for our 2 week wait and we're lucky enough to have a few embryos in the freezer, but I've spent 3-4 years having absolutely no hope whatsoever and telling myself that if I have no hope, I can't be disappointed, but here I am finding myself hopeful! They don't really offer any genetic testing in France so I know there's a chance the first one won't stick, but it's difficult to talk myself down for some reason. Thank God I have a beauty calendar waiting for me. If I can't have a baby, perhaps I can have a new face mist 😂

And yes, the French are peculiar when it comes to anything medical. I've been treated the same as going to the GP for a cold, which is scary in one way but in the other it's nice knowing they don't think any of this is a big deal so it's kept me calm. They haven't even asked me if I smoke or drink, both of which are the frenchest habits in the world! I've not been told to stop ANYTHING. And my french friend who recently had a baby was only told to not eat oysters "if she could resist them", which she couldn't 😂 Rather wild!

Yea I've found myself doing that this entire TTC process , I go" I'm not getting my hopes up" and every single month my heart breaks at that negative.
We didn't get any genetic testing, hopefully that doesn't make too much of a difference!

That is crazy ! 🤣 Here they won't do IVF in the NHS for you if you smoke! And we got lectured multiple times about not drinking. I'm sure if I was still in South Africa (where I'm originally from) no one would care , cause it's our culture basically 🤣🤣

That oyster thing made me cackle !

No this is my 5th cycle. But very likely my last.
