IVF- August thread

Hi I'm starting this thread to be around like minded people and to give eachother hope.

I am preparing for an August cycle. I'm trying everything to get myself into the best shape mind body and soul. I am desperate for this to work but I know I can get 'too' obsessed if I'm not careful. This thread is to keep me from spiraling more than anything. I would love to know what people have done or are doing to prepare

Thank you 😊 I was honestly shocked by the result because my AMH is only 4.9 pmol, so the first collection was better than I expected. I do have AFC/AMH discordance though.

We have significant male factor too. We’re actually using ZyMot sperm selection and PIMSI because of my husband’s sperm parameters (poor motility and morphology). I’m banking eggs for the first two rounds and then they’ll thaw them and fertilise everything together with the fresh eggs from round three.

I wish you all the luck ladies and hope you all have positive outcomes. This is the end of the journey for me. My transfer was cancelled this morning because I didnt have any blastocyst to transfer this morning. One is being kept in culture to see where it is on day 6 but the scientist thinks it wont be much better.

Oh @Miraclemuma03, I’m so sorry. I’ve been seeing you on several threads as I’ve been gearing up for my rounds. I hope you eventually find some peace with your decision. You certainly gave it all you had. Best wishes

Thank yiu very much. I hope your second round is successful. I have my fertility doctor ringing me next week to I guess sort of go through what went wrong and where we are at but honestly I think iv exhausted all my options and my ivf stamina.

I had egg retrieval on Wednesday. 16 retrieved, 11 fertilised. As of this morning 6 look viable according to the embryologist. I’m 42 though so expecting that number to nosedive before the next call on Sunday. Hopefully we’ll have something to transfer on Monday, but I’m realistic about the numbers given my age.

Is anyone doing PGT-A? I’m tempted to not bother as I don’t think I’ll have enough to test or freeze anyway!

Hi @LePetitRenard. I’m the same age as you and having the same quandary! This is my sending egg collection. On my first round, I was certain I would do PGT-A, but none made it to blastocyst. We’ve changed a few things this cycle but I have far less eggs than you to work with, 9 retrieved, 6 fertilised. I don’t get a day 3 update so I won’t know until the morning of the transfer whether we’ll be able to go ahead. I have the added issue of fluid in my lining but apparently that tends to dry up on progesterone, having a scan Monday to check. But yes, no idea on testing, I think we’ll base the decision on numbers.

@overwork sounds sensible - I imagine we’ll end up doing the same. Hoping you get some beautiful blastocysts to work with!

No 3 day update seems tough - how long do you have to wait?

Only till Tuesday. But I’ve taken the day off work etc and might all be unnecessary. Plus if things aren’t looking great again it would be nice to be a little prepared

I totally get that. Let’s hope it is totally necessary to have the day off!

I’m not back to work until September 2nd luckily - although work might be good to take my mind off eggs and statistics!
