IVF- August thread

Hi I'm starting this thread to be around like minded people and to give eachother hope.

I am preparing for an August cycle. I'm trying everything to get myself into the best shape mind body and soul. I am desperate for this to work but I know I can get 'too' obsessed if I'm not careful. This thread is to keep me from spiraling more than anything. I would love to know what people have done or are doing to prepare

It’s so rubbish isn’t it 😩 this is also for our second child! We were about to start IVF when we conceived our daughter by some miracle, even with my partner having a 200,000 sperm count. However his numbers have drastically dropped since the, literally to 19. We started ICSI last year and made 3 blasts. Today was a 4bb. We done access fertility doing the 2 cycles so if this one fails we have 1 round left. I’ve accepted if all of those fail then it’s not meant to be and I can say we’ve tried all
we can, as hard as that’ll be 😢

@Cornish13 wow 19! That is crazy. Will you do 2 cycles back to back to try to bank embryos or will you do a transfer with that embryo?

@Miraclemuma03 we transferred our remaining embryo today 😬 if this one doesn’t stick then we start from scratch. Considering he did have such low numbers I’m still shocked a year later that we managed to create 3 embryos. Since then we have both lost between 2/3 stone, I’ve had an excision laparoscopy and he’s completely cut out vaping and very rarely drinks. Worst case scenario and we have to go again it’ll be interesting to see if either of our stats have changed

12th August 😬 I am glad we didn’t do back to back collections though as at the time I didn’t know I had endometriosis. My partner also probably wasn’t in the correct headspace and physically wasn’t committed. This past year has taught us a lot and I feel more ready now. However over the year I have started accepting that it may never happen and I need to start protecting my heart

@Cornish13 i completely understand. Iv had enough of ivf now and just want to move forward. I want to concentrate on my health, maybe also my weight and i want to take my family on a destination holiday. I want to do a mummy make over lol i cant do all those things while paying for ivf and going through ivf or always prepping for egg collection and trying to get eggs. Its time for us to move 9n if this cycle doesnt work.

Yes!!! I 100% get the mummy make over 😂 since losing weight things have fallen with gravity haha so I’ve already informed my partner that once this shit show is over I’ll be having my make over 😂

Picked up medication yesterday so day 2 of stims today. AMH of 21.3 and 16 follicles visible on a scan yesterday - I'm on a short course. No fallopian tubes here so no option other than the assisted way. It seems like a lot to take in - and the bag of drugs was slightly intimidating!

@LePetitRenard welcome to the group. It can be very intimidating but once your a couple of days in and you wrap your head around your time line and plan then it becomes a little easier to manage.

this is my first transfer I had my egg retrieval a little over a week ago and my dr is considering a transfer in August since I will be doing a international move in October. I’m very overwhelmed with the move and a little discouraged our retrieval resulted in two embryos both graded as 4BC. I’m usually a person that keeps to myself and don’t like to burden others with my problems but it weighs heavily on my heart more lately. My husband and I had been trying to conceive for almost 10 years and after multiple attempts at trying to figure out the cause I finally found a dr that listened to my concerns and found the problem. Unfortunately I had to have both fallopian tubes removed due to tubal factor infertility. It feels like a long journey and I never thought we’d be this close to the possibility of conceiving I’m worried I’m getting my hopes up for failure.

Welcome to the group! Im sorry the journey has been so long and I hope you get to transfer very soon. It never hurts to feel excited at the possibility of a pregnancy in the nearing future.

Had first scans and bloods today. I have a leading follicle so now been put on an extra injection to hopefully hold it as it grows to let the rest of the follicles catch up. Next scan and bloods is on wednesday and its looking as though il trigger wednesday night and have egg collection on Friday. But i wont talk ahead of myself. One day at a time.

How is everyone getting on? I had my first egg collection yesterday. Due to the programme I’m on, they went straight in the freezer.

Thats great you got through your first egg collection. How many eggs were collected and put on ice?
I had 4 eggs retrieved and 2 were fertilised normally. I have to wait until transfer day now to know if I have any to transfer. The wait hasnt been too bad since im so busy all the time so my days go by pretty quickly.

Hello! I am on day 8 of stims so seems time to sign up here. Had a first round in June and didn’t get any blastocysts. Was hoping to PGT-A test due to age but might end up with a fresh transfer as it doesn’t seem likely we’ll get any / enough to test.

Thank you! I was genuinely shocked by the result – they collected 10 eggs and all were mature, so they have all been frozen. My AMH is low, although my AMH and AFC have always been a bit discordant, but it still came as a bit of a surprise to everyone involved – the nurses scanning me, the doctor who performed the retrieval, and the embryologist! My follicle cohort wasn’t especially synchronised, so I genuinely have no idea what worked.

I’ve got another two collections planned and I’m waiting for a consultation with my doctor to review this cycle. At this point I’m just hoping they don’t change a single bloody thing for the next one! After the final collection, they’ll thaw all the banked eggs and fertilise them together.

That’s really encouraging that you had 2 fertilise normally from your 4. I’ve got everything crossed that they both keep developing for you and you have something lovely to transfer 🤞

Reporting in - day 4 of stims for me. Woke up this morning and definitely feel a bit "fuller" in my abdomen although higher up than I expected!

Yes I’m doing the impact programme from avenues due to my AMH and age.

So three back to back retrievals.

No one expected that number of eggs from round 1. Least of all me.

@Grumpsy yeah thats amazing numbers. I also have very low amh think my last results they were 1. Iv had my meds increased but this is my cycle, I wont be again after this. My husband also has low sperm so we use icsi.

Im sorry you didnt get embryos from your last cycle. I hope that all changes this time. How long are you stiming for?

How long are you stiming for? I had a lot of cramping type pains, nothing unbearable or anything like that on my right side and thats the sode my eggs grew on.

Just had a monitoring scan and waiting in clinic to find out! I suspect it’s going to be trigger tonight as some of those follicles were looking rather big

I’m on day 4 and my first scan isn’t until day 11 so a week today. Which feels like a long time!
