Anyone else had 4 failed transfers?

i have had 5 ivf cycles now as follows:
1st - 8cell transferred- bfn
2nd- no transfer
3rd- 3bc 5 day blast transferred- early loss
4th- 4aa 5 day blast transferred- early loss
5th- 5ab 5 day blast transferred- bfn

I have a 5 day 3ab and a 6 day 4ab in the freezer but highly doubt they will work either.

Any stories of hope out there? Xx

Hi! I'm sorry to hear that. I haven't but will attempt a first transfer early next year so who knows what is awaiting us but it made me think of a thread mainly about two ladies following them live during multiple transfers, I want to say they had at least 3 if not 4 failed transfers and then they both got pregnant, one of them with twins ❤️

Wishing you all the luck in the world! No reason they won't work just because the others haven't!!!

Thank you so much ❤️

Following as I need this hope too 🤞🏻

I'm due transfer number 3 in the next couple of weeks, I went for my monitoring scan this morning and my lining wasn't quick thick enough so I think my transfer will be pushed back a week to maybe the 17th! My first 2 transfers both ended in early loss. I'm really sorry to hear about your 4, it must be really tough, I know I've lost any bit of excitement I've had about transfers in the past and just now have full anxiety. The only thing I've changed for this transfer is I requested low dose asprin, no idea if it will help but my clinic said there will be no harm in taking it so hopefully have a better outcome x

WildForTheNight · 03/10/2025 18:24

I've had 4 failed transfers after 2 cycles:
May 2023 single fresh transfer, failed/bled before test day
August 2023 double embryo FET, chemical
May 2025 single fresh transfer, failed/bled before test day
August 2025 single FET, BFN

I totally get where you're coming from with the lack of hope going forward. My brain is totally on the 'why the hell would it work this time?' train. We can afford one more round and then I think we'll have to call it a day.

What's your support network like? Have you had any counselling? Sorry I don't have a positive story to share but just wanted you to know you're not on your own. And I wish you all the best with whatever you choose to do going forward. Big unMumsnetty hugs to you

@WildForTheNight it’s soo sooo cruel isn’t it. I honestly feel really lonely. It feels like all my friends are moving on with their lives in a way I can’t relate to 💔 I’ve tried counselling but it hasn’t really helped xxx

How old are you? The reason I’m asking is that if you are older and the embryos haven’t been tested then it could just unfortunately be a numbers game - you might not have transferred a euploid embryo yet (as I don’t think embryo grade has any effect on that).

But if you are younger (and so likely making more euploid embryos) then my clinic said after 3 failed transfers then they would consider tests to check the uterine environment. Has your clinic mentioned any tests they might consider useful? Like Emma/Alice or NK cells? Or perhaps trying steroids or aspirin beforehand or checking your progesterone after transfer? Good luck, I’m sorry for your struggle Flowers

I feel your pain and can relate. I’m pushing myself continue but cannot see this ever working.

1st cycle - total failed fertilisation.
2nd cycle - total failed fertilisation.
3rd cycle - transferred a day 5 4AB (missed miscarriage at 10wks, baby was 7)

just waiting for plan on how I go about doing a frozen transfer with my remaining 4AC and 4AB

Cant help feel they’ll be no good either

I’m so sorry ❤️ it is soo sooo emotionally exhausting. It’s actually cruel.
are you thinking a double transfer? I’m going to see if they will transfer my last 2. I honestly don’t think I have it in me to experience another 2 miscarriages. I mean I don’t actually have it in me to face another 2 💔

@Deedeebob so sorry to hear about your failed transfers, IVF is a cruel process, we have had 6 failed transfers all grade 5AA and 6AAs double transfers apart from the first one 4 early losses and 2 nothing implanted at all, I have had every test done and found nothing wrong, we are MF I really feel it's to do with the sperm, but they just don't seem to test this as much, he has had the normal tests done and they showed morphology and all that stuff but they tell me they choose 'good' ones for ICSI. I am also exhausted with this process, it's mentally and financially draining I bet in total we are close to 50k and still no baby.
Sorry no positive news at this end all we can do is keep going
