Was this a chemical pregnancy

Hi ladies, I’m back.
So after the embryo transfer last weds I started doing some dip pregnancy tests (on a previous post)
I moved over to FRER yesterday night and got a darker second line. This morning I did it again (I feel like a testing addict) and the line looks lighter so now I’m thinking it’s a chemical pregnancy or that I have lost it. I know lines get darker so the fact it’s getting lighter is scaring me that it was chemical (I mean I started testing way early anyway) but feeling a bit devastated. Top pic was last night at 8- bottom pic is this morning at 7.30. Only one glass of water drunk in between

Was this a chemical pregnancy

The tests looms great. You have to remember that hcg can take up to 3 days to double and testing too close together wont allow the hcg to increase which means the hpt continue to look the same and not darken

Thanks for your message, I’m just scared as it looks lighter. I know I’m stupid for testing so early (only been a week since the transfer) but it’s been such a hard and long journey that I wanted to prepare myself. I feel like it’s going backwards and I keep hearing about chemical pregnancies so I just hope he’s still in there. I also freaked out as I fell asleep on my tummy and was worried I dislodged the embryo x

Hey. Your lines look really good. I feel your pain. I'm 11dp5dt and freaking out over lines as well. Was using cheap ones which showed faint positive with different shades every day. Moved onto clear blue last night and got a proper dark line but still can't shake the feeling and over analysing

I did more today and the cheap one looks darker but the others look lighter so I’m very very scared.
so pleased it is going well for you! It’s a great sign that you are getting positive tests! I’m so so happy! Fingers crossed for you- when is your official test day? X

No you wont dislodge the embryo in any way shape or form. You can lay on your stomach for as long as its comfortable for you. When is your OTD?

I think I’m also scared about chemical pregnancies as Iv read about that happening.
my OTD is Monday - but I feel like I’m becoming addicted to testing now lol x

Hi @mummyofnone I hope you are doing ok today. I completely get the obsessing over line progression or lack thereof. I'm in the same boat.

If it makes you feel any better, the second line on the image you shared yesterday looked the same to me, not any lighter. And those are really strong lines for how far after your transfer. We transferred on the same day, and mine is much lighter.

I also don't think there's any real risk in sleeping on your stomach, so try not to beat yourself up. Besides taking large amounts of caffeine or alcohol, there's not a whole lot you can do to mess it up at this stage. It's either going to work, or it's not. I know the lack of control sucks, but at least it means we can be a bit gentler with ourselves.

Personally I think you are still very much in the games and I am fully expecting a positive outcome for you on OTD.

Keep well 🌻🌻

Miraclemuma03 · 19/06/2025 08:11

I can understand that. Id say maybe wait for OTD and test again .

OTD is on Saturday. I've decided I'm not going to test anymore until then! I've one test left in the house and saving it for Saturday. Monday isn't too much further away either. And those tests are costing so much money!!

Thank you so so much for being so lovely. I have been testing very day like an addict. The lines are still there - although different tests show different darkness. Still struggling with the pessaries as they go everywhere (have to do them vaginally and it’s a mess)
thanks so so much for your positivity - definitely needed to hear that xx

Thats ok, you have to do what you feel is the right thing to do. How were the rest of your tests?

They were all positive but the shade of pink changed a little. I have attached a pic xx I’m having a freak out this morning as when I put in the cyclogest last night, it hit a wall and I gave it another push and it seemed to go into a hole or pocket so I’m worried Iv gotten into the cervix or uterus and have dislodged my embryo! There also wasn’t as much fall out as usual and so I’m scared it’s stuck, I’m so so nervous and I worry that I will constantly be scared. Luckily I get fertility counselling but I’m so panicked by what Iv done - they have told me to do it vaginally and not rectally so I’m always over thinking it x

@mummyofnone your tests looks great. I know its hard but try to stay calm. You can not dislodge the embryo. you can not get into your uterus or get past the cervix with the applicator. The amount of discharge changes every day depending on absorption and normal discharge. Im so glad your seeking counselling and maybe give them a call on Monday to tell them your fears. If your embryo is going to progress then there is nothing you can do to stop it. Stay active, eat well, enjoy yourself and try not to stress over things you cant change, concentrate on what you can do which is being you. Try enjoy the fact your pregnant no matter the outcome, the positivity towards your pregnancy will help get through it with less stress and make the days easier. Find yourself a hobby that you can concentrate on and take your mind off the worries. Get into a new fun TV series, watch those movies you didnt get around too, get into a new chapter book, do some gardening, take up yoga, do some mandalas, start a diary. Hope you can find some peace .

Thank you so much for your message xxx I dont get an applicator, just have to use my finger which is why I worried I pushed it into something. My counsellor works on weds and Thursday so I need make a list of what to talk to her about. We are going for a lovely walk today and hopefully that will help - I think because it’s been 4 years and Iv never got to this point, that I feel so frightened and I can’t believe that my luck might be changing. If that makes sense x I was also scared to test because of four years of failed tests so I started doing them to help me prepare but when I started seeing a positive line, I got freaked out as I can’t believe it’s real! I am watching a new box set and working on a crochet project and that helps - you’re right. I think being out in nature is healing. I hope you don’t think I’m a crazy woman (I feel like I’m thinking so unrationally) xx

Oh Hun this is so normal especially after such a rough go of it. I cant tell you how hard the first trimester is to get through. I dont think your crazy I think your scared and thats completely normal.. we all do and think weird things when we are scared but I promise you that you cant hurt your embryo, its all up to the embryo at this point and nothing you do is going to change the outcome so I always say take a step back and think of the one positive out of this and that is right at this particular moment, your pregnant so celebrate the milestone. Im so glad your going for a walk. Maybe take a picnic with you and find a nice place to sit down and enjoy the outside and fresh air.

It's normal to feel irrational and it's great that you're doing things to keep yourself occupied. It's also great that you can recognise this and bring it to your counsellor. It's so hard when everything is completely out of your control. Try and take the wins though, today you're pregnant so try and enjoy that feeling today. I thought testing daily was making me feel like I had control over the situation but since I stopped testing on Thursday, I've realised that it was making my anxiety so much worse. I've no tests left at home and I'm finding I'm relaxing and trying to enjoy growing this baby so much more, yes the irrational thoughts and fears still overpower me but I know it's normal and the fear will pass again for a short time.

Thanks for being so understanding xxx I understand what you mean- I didn’t test today because I’m just a bit bored of it and I feel silly. I’m guessing you had positive news yesterday? 🤞🏽 (sorry if I’m overstepping by asking)

Had positive pregnancy test for OTD yesterday so been started on aspirin now. My clinic don't do BETA tests so it's still just a waiting game, going in for a 6 week scan at the clinic but I'd prefer to push that out a bit as I'm worried it'll be too early to detect the heartbeat and it'll only increase anxiety levels waiting for another scan a week later. Have to just do what they're recommending though.

Arrghhhh that’s amazing! I’m so so happy for you- I know what you mean, but it’s going to be ok- it really really is. I have found lots of clinic do scans at any stage which aren’t too expensive (one is about £40 a go) so if you do feel anxious could you book one of those? But you don’t need to be, it’s going to go smoothly xx I’m so so so happy for you ❤️❤️❤️

@mummyofnone how are you getting on? I think today is test day for you if I recall correctly?

I really hope you can find a way to relax a bit after getting the results, as I'm sure it'll be good news. Unfortunately until you can start feeling the baby kick around 18-20 weeks, there is a lot of waiting and having to trust everything is ok between scans.

Wishing you the best for today! 🌻
