Christmas IVF/ICSI buddies

Just wondering if anyone else is starting IVF/ICSI around Christmas - I've had confirmation from the clinic that I'll start stims on boxing day (merry bloody Christmas 😂) with egg collection scheduled for the 8th or 10th January.

This is my first time doing IVF so would love to connect with others going through/due to start. For my part, we're doing ICSI for male factor secondary infertility, been trying for our 2nd for 3 years now (1 mc after the first year of trying) and I'm so excited to finally have some control over the process!

Omg you have really been through the mill, I'm so sorry it's been such a rough time for you, keeping everything crossed this is a smooth successful process for you.

Our journey has been long too, we started trying in 2019 after getting married. I have severe endometriosis so was referred for investigations pretty quickly as we were basically told within a year that we needed IVF. Underwent egg retrieval in 2020 and ended up with severe infection emergency surgery and a month long hospital stay.

After 6 months recovery I had to be put on a waiting list for further surgery to have my tubes removed as they were now full of toxic fluid following the infection which would kill an embryo. Had surgery May 2023, transfer was successful in August 23 and then my son contracted an infection as the hospital left we too long after my waters broke, he was also only on the 3rd percentile for size which they also failed to pick up. So now back to using our last embryo.

We've also just been told another egg retrieval would be just as risky as last time and would like only result on 3 eggs so now weighing up our options.

Infertility really is just sh!t after sh!t

I started cyclogest today and unsure if it's the time of year or immediate reaction but just feel so irritable already. Hoping it's just a one off. Forgot how messy they can be also

Booked in for transfer on 19th, will get called on 18th for rough timings.

@Hopefullyonedaysoon wow you have been through it all too. Like you said infertility is shit. I really do hope everything works out for you. I will be keeping an eye out when treatments really starts. I will start my medication on Sunday so I'm sure it will start to feel real then. Right now with the run up to Christmas I really haven't had time to breath 🫠

This just sounds like me all the time recently and that's with no medication! Your transfer if a few days because they think I'll be going in. We will be in the 2WW together 🤞

I'm trying to be a bit more calm but I definitely can notice myself just snapping at things easy

Hi everyone! How are we all doing? How is Provera @Rebekah77 I am on my last day of Norethisterone today hallelujah, its been a bit rough but seemed to get better by the end. Next step is just waiting for AF to arrive!
Thought it was going to be quite miserable doing this around xmas but actually its nice to be doing it at a time when things slow down a bit naturally.

Hey, I had transfer on Thursday so I'm 2dp5dt today and the last two days have felt horrendous either way anxiety and worry that this won't work. I know there is nothing I can do and I'm trying really hard not to spend every minute of the day thinking about the 'what ifs'
Going to write journal for a bit maybe and get some thoughts on paper and then hopefully busy next few days can help pass time quicker

Yes! I chose Xmas for my FET as it's a lovely and magical time (hoping Santa brings me a baby!) Had FET Yesterday with OTD 31/12 New Year's Eve! 🙏

hi everyone, I hope you don’t mind me joining the group. I’ve started Northisterone one the 18th but not due to start stims until the 2nd/3rd Jan if I get my bleed by then.
This will be out third time doing ICSI and our fertilisation rate has been quite low so I’m hoping the new protocol will get us to more usable eggs 🙌🏻

I start stims 29th as long as I bleed which hasn’t happened many times before so keeping everything crossed

Hello everyone. Just checking in with everyone after Christmas and hoping that everyone has got through this challenging time okay.

I'm currently waiting for my period to start - came off noritsterone on Monday and meant to be starting stims gonal-f on Sunday 29th. Now worrying that my period won't start which I assume will delay my cycle ? Always something to wait and worry for 😅

Hey @Anniekent1 @Rebekah77 it’s all so nerve racking! I came off on Saturday and my period came yesterday, going for a baseline scan tomorrow morning then will start injecting! Quite nervous but sure will get used to it. Sending baby dust to you both xxx

What protocol are you on?

@Chickenqueen ahh so a few days ahead. I'm hoping to get my period soon. Have the cramps so it must be on its way! I am so nervous too. Good luck to too. Least you have us to go through it with who will know exactly how you feel xx

Short protocol , my collection is booked for 10th . I had scans inbetween all the failed ones so happy enough just need to make sure they’re happy for me to inject on Sunday

Hi everyone, hope you all had a good (or at least manageable) Christmas. We were supposed to start estradiol just before Christmas but slightly delayed as my TSH was slightly out of range still, fingers crossed should be starting it next week instead. Then back for a lining scan 10 days later. Keeping everything crossed for everyone that appointments/scans/injections all go smoothly these next few weeks x

Hey all how's it going? I started injections last night after my baseline scan which was fine, super quick. Was bricking it for the injections but it was totally fine, barely hurt at all! Glad to get it done feel way less nervous about it now and so far no side effects but it is early days. My EC is booked for the 7th all being well xx
