Christmas IVF/ICSI buddies

Just wondering if anyone else is starting IVF/ICSI around Christmas - I've had confirmation from the clinic that I'll start stims on boxing day (merry bloody Christmas 😂) with egg collection scheduled for the 8th or 10th January.

This is my first time doing IVF so would love to connect with others going through/due to start. For my part, we're doing ICSI for male factor secondary infertility, been trying for our 2nd for 3 years now (1 mc after the first year of trying) and I'm so excited to finally have some control over the process!

How is everyone ?

ready to start provera , hot water bottle & tens at the ready 😂

Gosia19 · 05/12/2024 08:49

Hello! Please can I join in? I think we’re a fair bit behind everyone else, CRGH have received our NHS referral and we’ve been invited to our first consultation at the start of Jan. currently booking in tests etc. Not sure how long it then takes to start treatment.

We’re also using PGT-M due to 50% chance of passing on a genetic condition.

Good luck to everybody, wishing you lots of love!

Rebekah77 · 07/12/2024 21:13

Hey @Gosia19 the waiting is the worst bit hope you can start soon lovely

day 1 of provera is here , scared of the pain levels but let’s go and hopefully I bleed on time

ThisSunnyMember · 08/12/2024 08:59

Morning all - sorry for the delay in replying, life (work!) has felt a bit hectic! So I was doing a natural cycle but my period beginning of Dec came a few days early (typical and the first time this year!) so I am now on the pill as they didn’t want to risk my period coming during Xmas close. I’m booked for 2nd Jan for my pre-FSH scan and to start meds hopefully. All meds have been delivered and it’s all feeling real now!! 😬

How’s everyone getting on trying to be healthier during Dec? This is the most chilled Dec we’ve ever had I think!

@Chickenqueen ahh yours seemed to move so much quicker than ours, but we are nearly there now! As you say you only need one. Great news about your friend, fingers crossed for them!

@Rebekah77 good luck!! How did day 1 go? I hope you aren’t in too much pain!

@Gosia19 welcome! It’s nice to see another PGT-M couple! Hopefully things move along quickly for you 🤞🏻

Rebekah77 · 08/12/2024 18:37

Yeah all ok got a bit of pain but I’m always the same on provera ! Roll on Christmas Eve 😅

just trying to follow my meal plan , train like mad , plan Christmas , work and not go insane 😅@ThisSunnyMember

Hi all, hope it's ok for me to join!

I am currently down regulating in preparation for a FET in January. This will be my second FET, first was successful last year but I suffered a full term stillbirth in May so extremely nervous about starting the whole process again.

How's everyone feeling?

Rebekah77 · 09/12/2024 20:55

@Hopefullyonedaysoon welcome lovely hopefully it’s not too rough for you

I’m in agony already , hate provera so much I’m counting down to Christmas get me off this lol 😂

Chickenqueen · 10/12/2024 12:45

@Rebekah77 how are you doing? I am a few days into the Norethisterone and NOT feeling happy, emotionally or physically, the grim weather isn't helping! Have nausea as well, have you had this?

@Gosia19 welcome! so nice to find another PGT-M buddy :) CRGH were relatively speedy but mine was skewed by not having approval for our mutation + they ran out of funding in June but when I first got in contact they said the usual path is starting prep for egg collection is 4 months from your initial consultation. Nor sure if that has changed + will depend on your sitch ofc.

Hi @Hopefullyonedaysoon - sorry to hear about your loss, hope this time is better for you. How are you finding the downregulation?

Rebekah77 · 10/12/2024 12:49

cleggrickman · 10/12/2024 12:58

Hi I hope you don't mind me jumping on this forum! Been given the go ahead to start FET today. Start Norethisterone on the 22nd dec. How's everyone found taking it? If all goes to plan start estrogen in January and with transfer the back end of January!

Welcome @cleggrickman

hopefully you’ll get on on ok with it xx

Thank you. What side effects have you had with it?

Rebekah77 · 10/12/2024 21:30

Extreme pain but I have endo then I didn’t bleed after it anyway so we switched to provera

Chickenqueen · 11/12/2024 09:02

@cleggrickman welcome! i am on Norethisterone atm 5 days in, been alright have been a bit headachey and having occasional bouts of nausea but neither constant! Hope you do well on it x

Hopefullyonedaysoon · 11/12/2024 10:41

@Chickenqueen down regging is going ok, I'm on synarel nasal spray which is new for me as lart year I took buserelin injections.
It's nice not injecting but the spray does run down your throat which tastes pretty nasty. No side effects as yet thankfully, been on it 6 days now.

@Rebekah77 sorry you are feeling so rough, hope the symptoms start to settle down for you. When are you due to start the estrogen?

@cleggrickman sorry no experience with norethisterone but hoping it's not too bad for you. Are they pills or injections?

Rebekah77 · 11/12/2024 11:56

No oestrogen for me , this is short protocol for collection . As long as I bleed ! I am still doubtful . Counting down to Christmas lol ready for a day off and to get off these meds

I suppose it's just something we have to do isn't it and everything crossed it's worth it in the long run! Will you be moving on to oestrogen once you've had a bleed then?

I'm hoping the same. I am also very sorry for your loss. How are you finding it so far? What meds will you be taking? All these protocols and different medications baffles me!

ThisSunnyMember · 11/12/2024 19:25

Hey all and welcome @Hopefullyonedaysoon @cleggrickman It’s nice to know there’s a whole group of us all going through the same thing, although I know we’d all rather not be in this situation!

@Hopefullyonedaysoon I'm so sorry to hear about your loss, keeping everything crossed for you 🤞🏻

@Rebekah77 sorry to hear you aren’t feeling so great still l, let’s hope it will all be worth it this time for you!

@Chickenqueen glad you’re feeling better today!

ThisSunnyMember · 11/12/2024 19:44

@Rebekah77 This is going to be your time!! Oh bless you, that doesn’t sound fun. Hope your OH is treating you like royalty!!

Hopefullyonedaysoon · 11/12/2024 20:29

@cleggrickman thank you.

Synarel then estradiol then progesterone pessaries (think cyclogest).

I also have an under active thyroid since giving birth so trying to manage that as well. Great fun. Are you having a retrieval or transfer?

I will be transferring. We had a successful round in 2017 and still have embryos left over from then. Had a couple of cancer scares since trying back in 2021 and now after major surgery another scare and 2 failed attempts I really do hope luck is on our side! Are you doing a full fresh cycle?
