thanks @HopefulllHolly ! Been a bit quiet here - just easterly con ti g down the working days left at work :) lovely to hear how everyone is getting on with nursery’s and prams- very exciting!

I can’t believe this thread will see the births! Mental- seems like forever ago we were all balls of anxiety symptom watching at 5/6/7 weeks!!

for me- 32 week scan this afternoon 😊

ThePeachGoose · 21/11/2024 12:32

Thanks for setting this up @HopefulllHolly You're the best host around 😁

Hope the MRI goes well today @leaf86 and that you have plenty of stuff on to will make December roll around faster. Ooof it’s impossible not to think about the previous pregnancy but as @HopefulllHolly says as well, they would have spotted things by now if something was wrong and they would have been more concerned. This is a different embryo and a different baby and likely this will be a completely different experience. Fingers crossed for December!

@HopefulllHolly oh I’m so pleased that you found ways to bring that pain down and you’re not stuck with it for the next 9 weeks. While left side sleeping is ideal, after a certain point you just gotta do what makes you comfortable as you can’t live for 2 months in agony!
Side sleeping is so annoying, here I go on a rant. I can’t believe that nature has decided that this is the best position for us! It puts so much pressure on the hips and the growing bump, and in my case on the upper back. I had hip / lower back pain as well when I started doing it and I either got used to it, either I got it under control somehow (for now) with a mattress topper, the bbhugme obviously helps though now it slips from under my bump sometimes and that gets uncomfortable, and I’ve just been better in general with bringing my pelvis forward during the day and watching my posture as my spine is naturally pretty curved and I was told it will only get worse with pregnancy and will put more pressure on the lower back. Sometimes I sleep like absolute shit on the side, sometimes I sleep fine. Can’t wait to see how the third trimester will go haha
On the fundal height, the midwife said they’ll get a few measurements in to try to get a pattern and I assume that based on that they will make a call whether I need a scan or not
Our holiday is 28 Nov - 8 Dec. I’ll make sure to recharge my batteries on this one before I go into our crazy December & January, and will definitely make the most of the xmas limbo week in between.
Outside of midwife appointments, are you hoping for a more relaxed December?

Hi @always28 nice to see you around here, and to hear that everything is going reasonably well. Haha classic on finally feeling the movements on the way back home from the hospital. I feel you on the acid reflux! I had dyspepsia a few years back and was feeling absolutely rubbish, exhausted and breathless all the time, throwing up often, and I wasn’t even pregnant! Now the acid reflux has returned with pregnancy but it’s nowhere as bad as it was then, and so far I seem to keep it under control with Gaviscon and smaller meals, but I’m only 26 weeks. Are you doing all the other recommendations around it as well? Sleeping elevated, not eating 2-3 hours before bed, small meals often, fodmap?
I remember looking at a bugaboo fox in JL and disliked that it seemed like such a faff to re-use the same frame and use extra attachments to move from one type of seat to another, so appreciated the Cybex more after that. But realistically speaking, you only need to move between carrycot and seat once, so it’s probably not as big of an issue if you like the manoeuvrability of the pram

@natty2 ah so pleased that all is well!

@dippyduck19 32 weeks wow! such good news that the cysts have stayed put and hopefully you can proceed with your original plan. glad to read you’re feeling better and that you kept the mental health check in, I'm sure that it will help.

@anniestar12 sorry to hear about the insomnia and hope that you can get a nap in today to recoup some of the lost sleep. it’s 28 nov - 8 dec and yeah, I’m going to need it just to keep up with the crazy December and January we have lined up, let alone what comes after lol
I read the bit about you dreading going into the office. I’m at 26 weeks tomorrow and I’m already dreading taking trains and walking, though the cold doesn’t help either, so I’ve been driving myself everywhere these days lol I’m curious how much longer into the third trimester I can fit behind the wheel.
Sorry to hear about the elevated glucose. Is the first glucose test a blood test? I'm asking because I have the 28 weeks appointment coming up too. We have the same system at our hospital. Hopefully someone will get in touch with you soon to explain the next steps!

Good luck with the scan today @Edf

LouP87 · 21/11/2024 13:07

Thanks @HopefulllHolly so strange to think back now to how we all started off and that babies will be here soon!

not much to update on my end, I’ve been lurking and keeping up with everyone’s updates! Had 32 week scan on Monday - he’s a very big boy (5lbs 2 estimated!) but tracking consistently on the graph so no concerns. Another scan in 4 weeks time. My aunt fancies herself as a bit of a witch and has predicted he arrives before Xmas - so we shall see!

AnnieStar12 · 21/11/2024 14:52

Now that we have a new thread, and we're approaching the final couple months, wondering if everyone would be up for a recap of due dates so we can remember where we all are at as I can't remember where everyone is?

My due date is 7th Feb, but most likely having a planned c-section at 39 weeks, so I'm counting down to 31st Jan. Will be 29 weeks tomorrow.

AnnieStar12 · 21/11/2024 14:59

Thanks for setting up the thread @HopefulllHolly - just to say on that book I recommended, it's not so much about promoting c-sections, more a critical perspective of the idea that women should avoid pain relief and interventions etc. I'm finding it interesting to know the history of where this ideology has come from as I find it mind blowing how hard it's pushed on us when pregnant. I've had to bite my tongue a few times in my NCT classes as the instructor is so biased in how she delivers information!

Update today is I've now heard back from the hospital and they've booked me in for the second Glucose Challenge test - which is the fasting one - but not until the 3rd Dec. Seems a bit weird to wait that long to see if I have Gestational Diabetes as would have thought better to find out sooner.
I'm a little worried my hospital are out of capacity to do my maternity care properly as they also haven't been able to book me in for my next growth scan in the right week so I have my next scan appointment a week later than it should be. Been told to ring everyday to ask if there's a cancellation. Not a great sign!

Edf · 21/11/2024 15:08

@AnnieStar12 good idea :) my due date is 16th Jan 💕

LouP87 · 21/11/2024 15:22

Due 11th Jan for me!

Always28 · 21/11/2024 16:40

Due date is 14th March, but I have a C-Section booked on 25th February (37+4) because of complications post emergency c section for my first baby.

ThePeachGoose · 21/11/2024 16:59

Great idea! Mine is on 28 Feb

HopefulllHolly · 21/11/2024 17:13

Oooh good idea @AnnieStar12 Im due on the 23rd January. Almost exactly 2 months time (which feels like ages now!!)
Gosh that’s annoying about your GD appointment! In saying that the 3rd doesn’t feel like ages away, just another week of work to get through. Must be annoying that they keep booking things late - everything with mine is slightly early 🤣 which I find equally frustrating. Fingers crossed a space frees up for you though!
Definitely interested in the book either way - for me it’s not so much the interventions, but more that hospitals tend to rush interventions - my midwife at hospital I was speaking to at reduced movements MAU was the midwife in charge and she said often with consultants they just want the baby out because it’s easier to care for two of you not baby in utero. So they push things like inductions when there isn’t a medical need. And then with that will often mean you need further interventions. I think interventions themselves are right if that’s the only safe choice, but for them to just be caused because of doctors rush - for me it’s a no. I would be happy with a section though, Im not hugely swayed either way, baby needs to get out in the safest way. I am purely not having one just because I’ve never experienced childbirth and I’m interested to see how it is and whether I can do it. Maybe quite a warped way of thinking 🤣🤣 I’ll definitely have a read as I like having all view points to make decisions.

@Edf How was the scan? Hope all ok! Does feel like it’s flown by from our first posts of being scared and so anxious to now waiting for babies to come. Part of me wishes I could do it all again with the knowledge of where we are now - if that makes sense? I feel sad that much of my pregnancy was spent worrying. Very thankful to have had you all keeping me company and sane! 🥹

@ThePeachGoose Ah god yeah! Anything to get some good sleep and be in less pain. We have had the same experience with sleeping - my shoulders are in knots and click constantly, I get dead arms in the night, the bbhugme isn’t helping like it did now unfortunately so I have normal pillows everywhere, which means my partner is fed up and often retreats upstairs to sleep because I’m thrashing around and moaning all night. I miss him! Massages have been a godsend though. Get one if you are struggling when you’re back from holidays. Only a week to go until you’re off - and then when you’re back it’s basically mid-December. Eek!
Aside from Christmas we have no plans over December (though I’m working until 20th so it’ll be busy with doing my handover) anyway. January is completely free too - very excited for that!

@LouP87 Oh he’s a big boy already! 5lbs seems like a proper little baby already doesn’t it. So close! I wonder if your aunt will be right - could well be! I don’t even know how much they roughly put on in a week? If he gets hefty then you might end up having him earlier. I bet you’re first in the line of us who have baby. Can’t wait to start seeing the announcements already. 🥹

Which one did you go for?

HopefulllHolly · 21/11/2024 17:52

@Always28 The Cozzee Bambini Air in Ochre. 😊 and got a Little Moses for downstairs.

WhiskeyInTheJar33 · 21/11/2024 18:16

DippyDuck19 here - forgot to change my user name when I posted on this thread and now MN won't let me switch back.
I have 2 user names 1 for all the IVF stuff and Dippy for the pregnancy bits so work colleagues on here didn't find out I was pregnant before 12 weeks 🤦🏻‍♀️
So just to confuse you all you will have to remember me as another name now!!! Sorry!!!

@HopefulllHolly thanks for creating new thread.

Updated today's appointment on the old thread.

My due date is 14th Jan 😊

Always28 · 21/11/2024 18:34

@Always28 The Cozzee Bambini Air in Ochre. 😊 and got a Little Moses for downstairs.

This is the one I’m going to buy! I need to order it this week - I was just keeping an eye on prices. I already have a Moses basket from my son so will get a new mattress for that and use that downstairs.

@WhiskeyInTheJar33 /DippyDuck - I guess it’s safe to use the same name now anyway! I forget that it’s actually quite weird talking to people and not knowing their actual names, until something like this happens 🤣.

Fluffyted · 21/11/2024 19:21

Hey lovelies!!

How are we all??

I've been so quiet but have been catching up on everything.

It sounds like so many of you have had little scares!! So sorry to hear it all!!

@DippyDuck19 / @WhiskeyInTheJar33 how are you doing? Sounds like your consultant / obstetrician has done a fab job at putting things in place for you but I hope your ok ❤️

@AnnieStar12 how are you? Your little scare sounded horrible and terrible the midwives just sent you home! Especially with the mistakes made in your previous pregnancy.
I hope your ok ❤️

@leaf - awww hunny how are you doing? I'm so sorry your scan picked up a scare and you have to have more scans & MRI . I hope it's nothing to worry about and something really simple! Been thinking of you everyday ❤️

@HopefulllHolly how are you doing? Your pains sound horrible - I hope it's just growing pains. Sounds like your new sleeping position is helping, I'm sleeping propped up too (for acid reflux).

I had my 32 week growth scan yday - went really well. My baby is on the 64th percentile - weighing roughly 2.5kg already!!! I'm only 5ft2 so she must have her daddies genes!!
I'm hoping she won't be a whopper at birth 😂 my partner was born at 10lb 5oz!!!
My midwife has been telling me my baby is measuring a week smaller than she should be so who knows what's happening there!!
My little girl is in the breech position which probably explains my horrendous back pain with her head & arms living in my ribs!

I also had my obstetrician appointment yday - she literally said this is a waste of time as your baby is a good size so asked if I had anything to talk about. So I bought up my birth plan of having a c-section because that's been my birth plan since 24 weeks after talking & agreeing with the anaesthetist due to other conditions I have. My midwife also told me to bring it up so I have my plan in place - but the obstetrician refused!! She said she's refusing on medical grounds as she disagrees with the anaesthetist, even though she didn't even know what one of my conditions was as I had to explain it to her & what I'm living with.

She said I'll have to come back at 36 weeks & speak to a different consultant and if I choose a planned c-section then I won't get a plan or date until 39 weeks and if an emergency comes in then mine will be cancelled & I will be sent home.
She also said that if I go into natural labour before the planned date then I have to be prepared to give birth vaginally as they may not have space on that day for a c-section.
So now I'm a nervous wreck.

Fluffyted · 21/11/2024 19:21

Sorry if I missed anyone's updates!

AnnieStar12 · 21/11/2024 20:09

@Fluffyted oh I'm so sorry you got that response, that's really bad of the obstetrician, and totally understandable why you feel a nervous wreck - that is no way to be treated. Even if the doctor doesn't think you have a medical reason (which it sounds like you do have), then simple maternal choice is a legitimate reason for a c-section, and it even says so on the NHS website. If you have the strength to fight back then I would be asking to speak to another consultant asap and maybe write to PALS as you often get things done sharpish that way. Sorry you had to deal with that.

AnnieStar12 · 21/11/2024 20:12

So I've compiled the due dates so far as follows, in date order..
@LouP87 - 11th Jan
@WhiskeyInTheJar33 (formerly know as Dippy Duck!) - 14th Jan
@Edf - 16th Jan
@HopefulllHolly - 23rd Jan
@AnnieStar12 - 7th Feb (c-section 31st Jan)
@ThePeachGoose - 28th Feb
@Always28 - 14th March (c-section 25th Feb)

@Fluffyted - do you wanna add yours to the list?

Fluffyted · 21/11/2024 20:16

@AnnieStar12 thank you!! Yes I will do that.
I was on my own at the appointment so maybe that was why she pushed back to hard? I don't know. It wasn't what I expected. My midwife is fully on board with it so I just expected the same, maybe that was my fault.

Ohh I missed the due dates!! Yes please to add mine - 12th January.
This is so exciting!! It's all so close now ladies!! 🙌🏻🙌🏻 x

AnnieStar12 · 21/11/2024 20:29

Updated list...

@LouP87 11th Jan
@Fluffyted 12th Jan
@WhiskeyInTheJar33 (formerly know as Dippy Duck!) 14th Jan
@Edf 16th Jan
@HopefulllHolly 23rd Jan
@AnnieStar12 7th Feb (c-section 31st Jan)
@ThePeachGoose 28th Feb
@Always28 14th March (c-section 25th Feb)

LouP87 · 23/11/2024 09:49

Incase anyone is looking for maternity gear - Seraphine have a big Black Friday sale at the moment - got a coat this morning reduced to £89 from £189, with another 10% off with code WELCOME50. I thought it was an absolute bargain as I was just looking at the same ones on Vinted being sold for £90!

Fluffyted · 23/11/2024 11:35

Ohhhh wow @LouP87 that's an amazing bargain!!! Thank you for sharing that - i'm getting straight on there 🤩

Natty2 · 23/11/2024 21:56

Just catching up from last thread and new!
@HopefulllHolly Thanks for setting up the new thread!
Ah I think I totally missed do you have a dachshund?! We have the same too and I’m sure baby will be used to his yapping already 😅
Hoping to complete Renos in the next few weeks, it’s a huge house project that’s taken years tbh but it’s now very liveable fortunately!
Exciting that you brought your crib! We have the Tutti Bambini one too (not the air) brought second hand. Think I'm going to go ahead and order the pram next week too

@WhiskeyInTheJar33
Glad to hear your cysts haven’t grown and all went well with your growth scan! I’ll be interested to know what our baby is measuring now as they were well above average on 20 week scan and I’m only 5,2! Sounds like @Fluffyted might be in a similar position! They do say there’s about a 25% tolerance though as it’s hard for them to actual predict!
Hope your appointment went well with the mental health midwife 💕

@AnnieStar12 great idea to make a list of due dates! Mine is 20th Feb, although obstetrician said we could be looking at delivery between 37-39 weeks so could be 30th Jan-14th Feb

We had our first antenatal session on Thursday evening and then had a whole day today, which was exhausting but so good too! Meant that we all got to spend a lot of time together including a few drinks at the pub after too so it’s nice to meet a good local bunch. Have 3 more evening sessions over the next week and a half
