Should I be taking Aspirin

I have had one fresh transfer and one frozen both of which failed. We still have 4 frozen embryos and our consultant thinks we just need to keep trying and one will stick.

however for these first 2 transfers I have not been taking aspirin. He hasn’t recommended it but everyone else I read about seems to be taking it. Should I be pushing for aspirin for the next transfer?

I wasn't advised (or discouraged either) to take aspirin, but on the app my provider used, they had a section outlining all the different medicines involved in IVF (a generic list, not specific to me). Aspirin was listed, and it explained how, whilst not licensed, it is often used off-label to support with implantation and explained how it works. I did further research into dosages and made the decision to take 1 aspirin per day from ET until my OTD. So far, I'm 9w1d pregnant on my first round of IVF following a fresh transfer (I'm almost 38 years old with unexplained infertility). Obviously I can't say for certain the aspirin helped though!

@Capybara95 I took aspirin in my 2nd transfer (BFN) and then 3rd FET (BFP). If you decide to take it I would suggest letting the Dr know as I understand aspirin is thought to help with blood flow to aid implantation/lining. I also had to come off aspirin in the 3rd FET at 6.5 weeks as I started to get bleeding (hematoma) but aspirin can lead to more bleeding, so it is best to be monitored whilst taking it

Capybara95 · 09/11/2024 14:13

@xMrsxHx87x congrats on your pregnancy! And thanks for sharing your experience. I think I will go ahead with the aspirin as everything I read say it’s it can only help but will definitely discuss with our consultant and make sure he knows I’m taking it too.

@Sunflower360 thanks for your advice also. Did you take the aspirin from the day of transfer until 6.5 weeeks?

@Capybara95 I took aspirin from day 1 of the FET protocol

Sherr33 · 11/11/2024 11:18

Hi all

Has anyone had both the aspirin and blood thinning injection?
Or aspirin with prednisolone?
Wondering if anyone has had this type of protocol, what the outcome was, and whether anybody experienced significant side effects

Sunflower360 · 11/11/2024 12:07

@Sherr33 I had aspirin and prednislone, nothing obvious noticed however I did get bleeding at 6.5 weeks of my current pregnancy so stopped the aspirin and it stopped

Sunflower360 · 11/11/2024 12:08

Thoughts were it perhaps made the haematoma that was present at the time worse.

Hi,

I have been taking aspirin, prednisolone and dalteparin injections since transfer. This is mainly due to a blood clotting condition I have and this was recommended by my haematologist. I haven’t had any side effects but the injections sting a lot! Currently 7+5 weeks pregnant after having 6 miscarriages.

Aw congratulations 🎊 this third transfer it's something I want to add. My previous frozen transfer I had the blood thinning injections only. I absolutely hated them they hurt me a lot. This next protocol will also be including the blood thinning (tinzaparin) injections but I always get told to start mine when I start my estrogen meds. Did you start the pred, aspirin and inj on transfer day?

Was the prednisolone prescribed after NK tests? Or does your clinic allow a steroid protocol without the tests? Were you on the 10mg prednisolone? I've heard the lower doses for short period of use doesn't have many side effects but knowing my luck I'll be the rare one who does

Also congratulations 🎊 on your pregnancy I hope it's been well apart from the haematoma.

Sunflower360 · 11/11/2024 15:55

@Sherr33 thank you! So far so good. I was on 10mg prednislone after immune tests where they found thyroid antibodies, I don't think the clinic would have prescribed them otherwise. Also I was on them for 3 months in the end as I did back to back FETs (3rd FET stuck), cannot say I noticed any side effects bar from when I tried to come off them too soon as I got headaches - you have to be phased of them, that for me was 3 weeks

Sherr33 · 03/03/2025 16:51

@Capybara95 hey. I can't direct message you. I've been thinking about you all week and tried to find somewhere to tag you and finally found thus thread. How are you ?x

Capybara95 · 03/03/2025 17:28

So glad I found this thread to message you. Aw thats good news about transfer. I had my last scan on Thursday and been discharged by my clinic now. I've got my booking appointment with midwife this Friday. When is your OTD? Also thr spotting and light bleed that you mentioned a lot of people get that so domt worry too much about it. X

Capybara95 · 03/03/2025 20:09

@Sherr33 thank you for thinking of me! I’ve been checking the private messaging everyday hoping it would come back too! Yes it was a really tiny tiny bit of bleeding as in in any other circumstances i definitely wouldn’t even have noticed but obviously I’m examining every bit of toilet roll like a mad woman 😂 thats fantastic news you’re moving onto your booking appointment! Will you next scan be 12 weeks then? How far away will that be? So delighted for you

@Sherr33 test day is on Saturday, trying to stay positive and just stay busy. Don’t even have any tests in the house atm think that’s for the best

And yesss I really need a date for it thoughh

Capybara95 · 04/03/2025 16:42

@Sherr33 yes i just took off the day of transfer and next day (so last Monday and Tuesday) then went back to work to try and stay busy so i dont drive myself crazy at home! lol. Have just been trying to take it easy though and eat healthy and drink beetroot and pomegranate juice.

i know me too! I see app it’s closed because there were spam accounts sending wild pictures but I didn’t get any thankfully.

how are you feeling now? Are you having many symptoms yet? Are you just at work and trying to keep busy?

Oh dear brownie points for sticking with the beetroot juice. I couldn't. I get cramps on/off, very very tired, sometimes nausea and then like hunger pangs. Symptoms are up and down.
Yeh I'm at work but get exhausted so quickly! Honestly I've dozed off a few times now 🥴

Capybara95 · 05/03/2025 10:28

@Sherr33 i actually don’t think it’s too bad when mixed with the Pom juice but just try and get it down as quickly as possible! lol.

my spotting turned brown yesterday morning then has stopped since so not sure what to think of that. Hoping it could be a good sign but could mean anything really when im taking so many hormones.

im sure its hard to carry on with everything when youre so exhausted but will be so worth it

Not long left now. Im so excited for your test day. And I've got a good feeling ☺️ are you using your pessaries vaginal or?
I still haven't got an appointment for 12 week scan so I am a bit worried. Been stressing because some of symptoms have gone.
