Hi all. I'm very lucky to have a 21 month old after two transfers and am in the process of planning a transfer for baby number two in the next month. I wondered if anyone is or has been in a similar situation and could tell me their journey? I feel very lucky to have to have had the transfer work second time and I have 4 Frosties left but I know there's no guarantee! Would be great to hear others stories Grin

Hia! Currently 13weeks with no.2 😊 no.1 we were super lucky with transfer 1, after that we had a failed fet for transfer 2 went through another fresh which failed for transfer 3 and success fet (🤞🤞) with transfer 4 😊 not gonna lie it was tough going but you know that given your experience, wish you loadsa luck!!!

Hi, we were very lucky to be successful on our first transfer and we now have a 3 year old. I had a failed FET in May and just transferred our last embryo last week. Keeping everything crossed that it results in a successful pregnancy! Wishing you the best of luck x

Thank you both so much for your replies! It's so hard isn't it. You just can't guarentee anything but hoping for lots of luck for my upcoming transfer!
@SAbs86 wishing you all the luck in the world!
@Edf sounds like you've had quite a journey but congratulations on it all working in the end!

@Jaffa1989 There is an IVF/FET sibling support thread with a couple of us on it who have been trying since ~ start of the year. Couple of us with success stories now!

I have a 22 month old DD and 28 weeks pregnant.

DD was a journey - same sex couple, early 30s, no fertility issues so thought all we needed was some sperm. 4 failed medicated IUIs with donor sperm, all BFN so moved to IVF. 1st egg collection a disaster with very poor response. only 2 mature eggs collected, but both made good looking day 5 blasts, 1 failed fresh transfer (started bleeding 5dp5dt, always felt it never had a chance) and 1 FET resulting in a CP. Changed everything for 2nd egg collection. 6 eggs collected, all mature, all made it to day 5 but only 3 suitable to freeze (we did a freeze-all cycle). First FET is my DD.

Current pregnancy, we transferred 1 frosty, worked first time 😍

Wishing you the best of luck on your journey

@2mumlife ahh thank you! Do I just search that title? I'm not a Mumsnet expertConfused
Congratulations!! So happy for you having luck with both even though you had such a difficult journey to get there.
Having had both a failed and successful transfer I'm trying to keep a positive mindset that it will work quickly!

Hi @Jaffa1989 , I'm on the same thread as @2mumlife and it has been hugely helpful: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/infertility/4770341-ivf-sibling-round-support. Feels like a whole different ballgame second time round, but so much less intense in our case!

Our son (now almost 2y 2m) was also our second transfer (first fresh transfer BFN and no frosties, second fresh transfer worked). I'm now 16w pregnant with our second transfer again (first FET BFN in February, second FET worked - both natural cycles).

4 frosties sounds like a great starting point! Best of luck xxx

Just wondered if there would be any interest in setting up a support thread for those of us thinking about a sibling round. This could very much be a...

I've have a 15mo DD (5th transfer) and had 2 frosties left over, decided to try for a second child. Due to the cost, stress and ivf odds, we put both embryos back in. Currently 9weeks pregnant with twins!!! Both decided to stick 😁
This time round it felt a lot less pressured, we feel so lucky to have our daughter that this was a bonus round ....although we haven't yet for our heads round the idea of twins..... the anxiety feels a lot less this pregnancy, but that might be something to do with being so busy running after a toddler, or just knowing we can do this.
I think you've got good odds with 4 froesties OP. Best of luck x

Jaffa1989 · 22/07/2024 10:24

@StarShine23 wow twins! Congratulations that is amazing! I was contemplating putting two in but I think I’ll wait and see if this one works 😂😂 I do also feel a lot less stressed this time so I’m hoping it will be a more positive experience regardless.
