Hi ladies,

We are about to start our first ICSI cycle for secondary infertility and wondered if anyone had similar timings to share the journey for the next few weeks.

We are doing mild IVF with Kind (LWC) due to high AMH and AFC. Starting dose of 112.5 Bemfola.

☺️

Hollielouise · 10/05/2024 20:24

Oh good luck. How long will a long protocol be? I take my first injection on Sunday...! 😬 xx

Egg collection scheduled in 8th July so think about 6-7 weeks. Good luck for Sunday xx

TinyDancer91 · 11/05/2024 22:37

Hi, we started our first ICSI cycle today. We are on short protocol and on Menopur currently, adding in Fyremadel after day 5.

We have been TTC #1 for 2.5 years, took us 13 months from referral to start treatment. Fingers crossed for everyone!

Rebekah77 · 13/05/2024 11:18

Lots of us in the May chat come on over xx
got my collection booked for 31st icsi too

Hi!
We are about to start Kind with LWC (I have tests booked in, so provided my AMH isn't too high and we get accepted), hopefully end June. I was googling other people's experience and came across your thread.

I have PCOS and am 37 so we're pushing the criteria for getting accepted by Kind, but alternatives are so much more expensive we really hope we can.

My current worry is if I get OOSH and have to do a freeze all round then I think we get transferred to LWC and costs become more unpredictable. But what will be will be!

Hope it's going well for you so far x

Hollielouise · 15/05/2024 14:45

@ClaireOC88 So lovely to hear from someone also potentially doing Kind!

So my AMH was slightly over their cut off and the first consultant I spoke to there said we didn't qualify but then the senior consultant said we did! I think it depends who you speak to so try and get the one in charge!

OHSS has/is still a worry for me. I asked about the freeze all situation and they said that if they choose to freeze all the FET cycle will be included as you won't have had a transfer so no extra to pay 🙏🏼

How are you getting on @TinyDancer91? I am one day behind you - started on Sunday and adding Fyremadel in two days. When is your first scan?

OP posts:
TinyDancer91 · 15/05/2024 14:49

@Hollielouise I'm on day 5 of stims today. Had a scan today and follicles are on the smaller side but they are happy with my hormone levels so sticking with the 150 dose of Menopur and adding in Fyremadel today too. Back in for scans on Friday and Monday.

How are you getting on?

Hollielouise · 15/05/2024 15:03

@TinyDancer91 That sounds positive. Did they say how many you had or the sizes?

I'm day 4 of stims today and have my first scan on Friday. Generally feeling fine, just a bit tired and nauseous at times but nothing major.

OP posts:
TinyDancer91 · 15/05/2024 23:00

@Hollielouise roughly 3 on each side at the moment that they can see (as far as I remember), but the ones on the right are all stacked on top of each other. Not sure if that affects anything... I was told at my first consultation (back in Sept) that I have polycystic ovaries, so my follicles tend to grow on the outside of each ovary instead of in the middle.

Just had my first Fyremadel injection. The Menopur ones have all been fine, but the Fyremadel one was a little more painful and went red for about 45 mins afterwards. It's gone back to normal now, so not worried. Are you on the same stims?

Wishing you luck for Friday!

Hollielouise · 18/05/2024 10:33

@TinyDancer91 How are you doing? I didn't make it to my first scan yesterday as my tyre blew out on the way so slightly stressful afternoon and now have to wait for Monday's scan 🤦🏼‍♀️

Day 2 of Fyremadel today and agree it is quite sore afterwards but the ice really helps beforehand!

I'm on Bemfola but have done Menopur for an OI cycle before - lots of mixing from what I remember?!

Just updating that I've just had my first (and only!) scan on day 9 of stims and am booked for egg collection on Wednesday morning.

Hey ladies, I have just finished Provera yday so waiting for AF to arrive!

I'll then be on short protocol and on ICSI! First time so quite anxious!

Good luck all x

ivfjourney2024 · 20/05/2024 16:21

Hi! I hope you're all doing well. We're starting our first round of mild ivf with ICSI today after almost 2 years of ttc. We're facing male factor issues right now. So anxious about it all!

Hollielouise · 20/05/2024 18:32

Welcome @ivfjourney2024 and @LeoStar24 !
It is such a mixture of emotions so can relate to the excitement and anxiety!

Do you know what meds/doses you're on? I was also on mild with ICSI.

I've just finished my stims after only 8 days and am triggering tonight - has gone so quickly!

OP posts:
ivfjourney2024 · 20/05/2024 20:21

@Hollielouise yes I'm on 150 iu gonal f at the moment, what about you? It must be a relief to be done with the stims

Hollielouise · 21/05/2024 09:45

@ivfjourney2024 That's great - how are you feeling so far?
I was on Bemfola 112.5 which is also quite a low dose I think. Definitely glad to be last stims stage but very strange to have a day of no injections waiting for egg collection tomorrow! 😬

OP posts:
ivfjourney2024 · 21/05/2024 14:27

So far I feel ok, i'm not experiencing any side effects yet. Did you get any side effects from yours? Yh I thought my dose was low too compared to others. My monitoring scan is Thursday so will see how it's working then.
I hope all goes well with your egg collection tomorrow! Can I ask what day of your cycle your egg collection is? They say around day 14 but I know it's different for everyone - trying to sort time off work

That's great you're feeling good. I was also fine - had some slight nausea towards the end but I think that's mostly due to the high levels of oestrogen from so many follicles.

So I stimmed from cycle day 3 - 10. So 8 injections in total. Triggered yesterday after my scan and tomorrow will be cycle day 13 for egg collection so I guess kind of average - just on a very low dose instead.

OP posts:
ivfjourney2024 · 22/05/2024 15:56

@Hollielouise ok yes that sounds pretty common. Hopefully I can get an indication tomorrow.
How did today go? Hope you're feeling ok after egg collection

Hollielouise · 23/05/2024 09:21

Thanks @ivfjourney2024 🥰 How are you feeling? Have you got a scan booked in? Hope you're doing ok with the injections.

Egg collection yesterday was really not as bad as I thought it would be. The effects of the drugs and sedation were worse than the actual procedure.

I've just had a call from the embryologist- they collected 19 eggs, 18 of those were mature and all 18 have fertilised. So now we wait until day 5....! 😬🙏🏼

ivfjourney2024 · 23/05/2024 10:14

Oh my goodness! That's such a great result! I'll have my fingers crossed for you ☺️

I've just had my first monitoring scan and they've said while there are lots of follicles, they've still got some growing to do and my lining is still a little thin but they say it's not strange for cycle day 5. They've taken some bloods to check my hormones to see if they need to increase my dose

ivfjourney2024 · 23/05/2024 13:20

@Hollielouise Also, my follicles are measuring at about 8mm at the moment and the consultant said they want them to get to 10mm. Reading so many people's stories and 10mm seems still small compared to so many others! Do you remember your measurements around cycle day 5?

Hollielouise · 23/05/2024 14:23

Ah cycle day 5 is still quite early so try not to worry. How many days of injections have you done?

I didn't even have a scan until cycle day 11, which was after 8 days of injections. I imagine a day 5 scan would have shown lots of little ones for me too, so try and not let it get to you. I know it's hard not to analyse everything. I haven't stopped googling post egg collection symptoms all day! 😅🤦🏼‍♀️ When is your next scan?
