Just started progynova and feeling floored. Anyone else in the same boat? I'm on 6mg a day, scan booked for next Monday with the hope of frozen transfer w/c 20th.

Yes.

I have taken progynova and now on northisterone to prepare for a baseline scan. But I am wiped!

All the best for your hopeful transfer on the 20th. How you feeling about it all?

Ohwow2022 · 05/05/2024 12:18

I'm excited but scared too, this is our 3rd transfer, we've a 2yo boy and I had a MC last September with our 2nd transfer at 8 weeks.

What about you? How are you feeling?

StuffLoriThangs · 05/05/2024 13:37

I’m sorry to hear that.

im really nervous. This has been a long road to get to and this will be my first transfer. HWG

Ohwow2022 · 05/05/2024 13:47

I hope it's all but good from here on! Are you hoping for transfer in the next week or so?

I'm feeling very tired and nauseated today, but thank God it's a bank Holiday weekend!

i think it might be in the next 3 weeks. I’ve got a baseline scan this week and then I don’t see them again for 2 weeks.

But still on meds, so I can relate to the tiredness and nausea for sure!

Indie24 · 05/05/2024 16:09

Hi @Ohwow2022, I’ve been on Progynova a few days now - 8mg a day, and it’s definitely taking a bit of time to adjust! I’ve been really tired and headachy. My clinic have me on it for 17 days before the lining check scan which seems a long time, hoping to adjust to the tablets soon or it will be a long 17 days!

RubyLemonade · 05/05/2024 19:54

Hi all! Hope it’s alright to join - I’ve just started Progynova for our FET cycle too - 12mg a day as my lining takes a while to respond on a lower dose - not looking forward to the headaches 😬

@Ohwow2022 my story is a little similar to yours! I’ve also got a DS from a previous FET cycle who’s nearly two. Tried for a sibling last year but transfer was unsuccessful. So third transfer for us as well. MC must have been incredibly hard after going through the whole transfer process 💐

Keeping fingers crossed for all of us!

Rainbowsunshine81 · 05/05/2024 21:19

I'm on progynova, 4 a day in preparation for a fet this month, another scan on Wednesday and hoping for good news, fluid that was seen on a previous scan will have gone and have had similar symptoms that occur before ovulation, so hoping there isn't a dominant follicle seen. Has anyone experienced an increase in discharge since starting progynova?

kirstysmbc · 05/05/2024 21:51

Hi ladies, hope it's ok for me to join. @RubyLemonade similar story to you, started progynova today (only 6mg as luckily my lining is usually good). I am also trying for a sibling for my 2yo daughter. I have had three failed transfers over the last last year - two own egg (bfn and early miscarriage) and one donor embryo (another early miscarriage). This cycle is my first double donor cycle and I have 3 top graded embryos to choose from.

I have my lining scan on 15th and hopefully transfer a week later.

@Rainbowsunshine81 I always have increased discharge on oestrogen. Another lovely side effect!

Rainbowsunshine81 · 05/05/2024 22:06

@kirstysmbc I can't remember if it happened the last time I was on progynova.
I did a double donor egg transfer last year, which ended as a chemical, this time I'm going to have intraplids as one of the nk cell blood test came back higher than normal, so hoping that will help.

Fluffyted · 06/05/2024 08:01

Hi! Jumping on this thread to … but I’m a little ahead, I just had my frozen embryo transfer last week but I’m on the 6mg Progynova per day too. Ohhhh my they knocked me out for the first week!! But then the tiredness seemed to fizzle out for me on the second week.
I did have another weird side effect with Progynova that started after 5 days - my bladder stopped emptying properly!!! so I was having sharp bladder & pelvic floor pains and needed to wee so urgently, very weird!
Then when I started the progesterone pessaries it seems to take all the side effects away! (Not sure why!?)
Thought I’d just give you a bit of hope that it gets better! (As we are on them for ages!)

Hopefully you’ll feel much better next week!

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/05/2024 09:25

@Fluffyted I wish I'd kept a note of anything I felt whilst on medication last time, so I'd have something to compare it with. I'm still on the nafarelin nasal spray, which I haven't been on before and was getting period type symptoms for a good couple of days, last night I felt like an aching sensation in my tummy and have noticed an increase in secretions downstairs after being the bathroom if that makes sense.
I'm going for another scan on Wednesday where I'm hoping fluid that was seen has gone and because I let my clinic know about the increase in secretions they're going to check that my ovaries are still shut off. Fingers crossed can go for the fet next week which is in Cyprus. I did notice last week I need to go for a wee loads!

TorrentialHighSeas · 06/05/2024 13:20

@Ohwow2022 omg Progynova is totally doing a number on me! This is my first FET, I was fresh last time and I didn’t expect the side effects to be so intense.

i had bad headaches and was so weepy in week 1, now I’m about 11 days in and I feel like my insides are in a vice, lots of lower back pain. Anyone else getting pain in the lower back?

Rainbowsunshine81 · 06/05/2024 13:38

@TorrentialHighSeas I'm on progynova and I too have been getting lower back ache. Haven't had my fet yet, but hoping it can go ahead this month. Due to have a scan this Wed to see if fluid that was seen has gone, I'm hoping it has.

Partcoffee · 06/05/2024 14:36

I’m due to go for transfer in a couple of weeks and have been on progynova 6 days now and I’m absolutely wiped out. Constant horrible nausea to the point all I can do is sleep or lie on the couch 🤢

Fluffyted · 06/05/2024 15:12

@Ohwow2022 Haha I’m so sad that I have kept a note of every side effect / mood etc that’s happened on all my IVF meds 🙈😂😭 I don’t even know why I chose to but my over thinking self thought it would be a good idea! I’m not on the nasal spray but it doesn’t sound like the side effects are great for that either.
I hope everything goes well for your next scan & your side effects ease off this week.

@Partcoffee i had nausea at the beginning taking Progynova and ginger really helped me!! I googled so much for nausea lol but specifically the ginger sweets called “gin gins” from Holland & Barratts worked amazing for me!! Literally within 5 mins of eating one the nausea would go! And I just ate some sweet everytime I felt horrid and it eased off after 2 days!
I brought the chewy ones & they have a weird texture & super chewy so maybe the hard ones are better. I’m not a massive ginger fan but these were tolerable in taste!
I hope you feel better soon!

Ohwow2022 · 06/05/2024 19:49

Aw everyone is making me feel like at least I'm not mad! I feel bloated already, although I'm a good size 16! Tiredness is definitely real and today I've started with some stomach pains but bearable but it's only day 3 done ✔️

Not that I want to have a glass of wine but I've a wedding this week and my clinic advised that a couple of drinks would be fine. Anyone else got this advice? I'd have thought 0 alcohol.

I've started to take notes of my symptoms now too just to see if certain time of day affects me more than other times.

OP posts:
Fluffyted · 06/05/2024 22:07

@Ohwow2022 oooh that just reminded me that I started taking mine with food at mealtimes so like breakfast, lunch & tea because they made me feel super bloated & I have stomach cramps every time I took them. The mealtimes definitely helped me! (I forgot about this side effect!)

I’ve stuck to 0 alcohol just because I’m paranoid 🤣 but if your clinic says your ok to then they know best! x

TorrentialHighSeas · 08/05/2024 22:42

@Ohwow2022 i personally think it’s fine to have alcohol. I think they say no alcohol cos they want to throw everything at it but I would be surprised if one glass of wine is really what makes the difference.

so relieved to read all these Progynova stories, honestly thought I was going mad / being a drama queen! Sorry you’re all having to deal with it, glad it’s an actual thing!

Ohwow2022 · 08/05/2024 22:47

@TorrentialHighSeas swear I was starting to think I was making it up lol but yes the tiredness is real! Yea I think I could have a glass to toast the newly weds with food. Hopefully weather is good tomorrow.

Anyone else really bloated? I'm not small but def showing the bloat!

Ohwow2022 · 12/05/2024 05:49

Head is spinning, I've my scan to check my lining tomorrow & I'm lying awake thinking of all the things I haven't been doing to help this transfer! WHY!!

Anyone else for transfer soon? And any advice on pre frozen transfer diet for the next 2 weeks?

OP posts:
Rainbowsunshine81 · 12/05/2024 09:30

@Ohwow2022 I'm going over to Cyprus for my frozen transfer on Thursday and have been trying to eat healthy, but then if I've felt like a bit of chocolate then I've had it. Been trying not to stress too much about things because it doesn't do you any good. Been drinking loads of water, taking folic acid and making sure I'm taking my medication each day.

TorrentialHighSeas · 12/05/2024 09:58

@Ohwow2022 I guess just focus on lots of freshly prepared food with a balance of protein and veggies, but allow yourself choc here and there! I’m sure you’re doing well.

I have my transfer tomorrow. Eeek!

StuffLoriThangs · 12/05/2024 11:20

@Ohwow2022 i can understand why your head is spinning.

Just try and listen to your body. Try not to “should” yourself or blame yourself for anything, because that really doesn’t help.

Ohwow2022 · 12/05/2024 12:30

@Rainbowsunshine81 good luck!! I hope you're doing OK and not too nervous. I'm the same with the meds etc. Wishing you all the best!!
@TorrentialHighSeas all the best too for tomorrow! I def will try the more veg & protein! Thank you

@StuffLoriThangs I love that don't 'should' yourself! I am that person! And so bad for it.

We had a MMC last Sept and I got it into my head we don't deserve anymore. The mind is mad!

Tesco click and collect for a top up on the veggies and chocolate 😆
