Hello! Our 3rd cycle got haulted last month and I've really realised how much weight I've put on in the last month since I had to stop all ivf meds. Thre stress of waiting for an update from our private clinic has been wild. I've just eaten so much crap. I really need to change that because I weighed myself this morning and realised that if by some miracle withe nhs donor list had space for us then we wouldn't currently be accepted. That's how much I've put on so fast! going to calorie count and gwt back to doing 10k steps a day.

anyone want to join in. Everyone welcome!

Hiya, please can I join, need some moral support.

I am trying to get my BMI down to start IVF. I have been at the top of the waiting list since December, and am really struggling and to be honest only needed to loose a stone to get there, I got to 1 pound away to my target, and then Easter happened am 6 pounds away! It will be my first cycle and through the NHS.

ACR7 · 14/04/2024 21:03

I lost 3 and a half stone last year to get our ivf on nhs. It was really hard and I had to completely change my mindset. If honest im a naturally greedy person and was also enjoying my wine too much and without this motivation I don’t think I would ever have gotten healthier. I managed to do it though and we had our ivf in September and I’m now nearly 8months pregnant. I genuinely think it was changing my lifestyle and being healthier that made all the difference. Just a word of warning though, they weighed me at every appointment and would have cancelled the treatment if I slipped back. It was pretty stressful but I think their harshness was what I needed to give me a kick up the bum. Don’t be too hard on yourself though. I gave myself allocated treat days to look forward to.

CakePigeon30 · 15/04/2024 18:24

@ACR7 congratulations. I am over two stone down but it has taken a year! Plodding on slowly though. Didn't realise they weighed you at every appointment though so thanks for the heads up!

ACR7 · 15/04/2024 18:42

@CakePigeon30 2 stone is great! There’s no denying it, it’s a hard slog. You’re doing great. I know it’s easier said than done but don’t put too much pressure on yourself, it takes as long as it takes. 🤞

Rebekah77 · 23/04/2024 09:24

Hey hey
next appointment in a week trying to get as much off as I can fingers crossed

so stressed every visit a weigh in

all the eggs & veggies

caffelattetogo · 23/04/2024 13:11

I lost 2stone for my first nhs treatment and then 4stone for my FET. It was a slog both times but definitely worth it. Pregnancies are not good for me - I put on a lot of weight. But it was dirty every bit of calorie counting and carb denial to get my two IVF babies.

caffelattetogo · 23/04/2024 13:12

*worth!

CakePigeon30 · 24/04/2024 22:09

@Rebekah77 Do you have much to lose? I am 2lb away now.

Rebekah77 · 24/04/2024 22:20

@CakePigeon30 I’m under now but I need to stay there throughout stims or they will cancel even on surgery day

trying to get off as much extra as I can
3kg down since last weigh two weeks ago so just trying to keep slogging away

CakePigeon30 · 25/04/2024 18:18

@Rebekah77 is this nhs or private? This is my fear...I put on weight so easily then takes ages to get off!!

Rebekah77 · 25/04/2024 18:20

Private @CakePigeon30 from what I’ve heard nhs is one weigh and that’s it

I wish that was the case I’m sick with worry every week 😪

ACR7 · 25/04/2024 21:47

@Rebekah77 i know it doesn’t make your struggle any easier but I was nhs and they weighed me at every appointment. They were so strict. It’s a very stressful and intense time isn’t isn’t it?

Rebekah77 · 25/04/2024 22:01

Yeah after a year of weighing and delays I’m so fed to with it ! All my bloods have expired now too so that’s another £1000

CakePigeon30 · 28/04/2024 10:14

Got to my target weight this morning 😀😀 2 and a half stone lost in total. Going to still try to lose more so that I definitely stay under xx

CakePigeon30 · 28/04/2024 10:15

@Rebekah77 think my bloods have expired too as got them done before Christmas. Will give them a ring this week xx

Rebekah77 · 28/04/2024 16:28

well done @CakePigeon30

my next weigh is Tuesday just hoping to finally get surgery date booked in again

fasting until I’ve been

IVFlife · 28/04/2024 20:49

Hello! I've managed to keep up my 10k steps a day. And for last few days have stuck to my anti inflammatory food plan. Will weigh tomorrow and see how I need to adjust cals

@IVFlife hope the weigh in went well x

TorrentialHighSeas · 30/04/2024 22:33

Good luck to all those trying to lose weight for treatment. They really do make it stressful from a BMI perspective.

im going private and during my fresh IVF they weighed me once and not again. I ended up having a successful pregnancy. I’m now doing FET and the BMI limit is higher thankfully cos I put in weight AFTER DS was born!

however . I’ve refused to be weighed in the clinic. I brought them a letter from the doctor with my weight at starting treatment time. And they conceded that that was fine. I just found it so stressful having to be weighed.

Rebekah77 · 01/05/2024 06:41

It’s definitely stressful being weighed and knowing at any point they can cancel if you gain

yesterdays weigh in was all good

so back to dieting now until stims begin
all the veg and healthy fats

IVFlife · 01/05/2024 07:28

Yes must be so stressful with that in nhs cycles.

Mines private but I just really want my bmi down for it. As uts been such a long road to get these precious donor embryos made.

Today my bmi is 31.7 and earlier this year it was 33.7 so 2 points dropped which am pleased about.

Want to get below 30 before transfer.

Mine is private lol 😂 absolutely hate it

going to loose so much money if they cancel it on egg collection day

I’m now under just got to avoid gaining any on stims so think I’ll continue to try to get down 7lb or so

Aaaah sorry I had missed that above where you said that. That's absolutely mad they weigh you every time.

Is it a UK clinic?

My private clinic have never weighed me. They've just asked my weigh on a form!

I can't imagine how stressful that is knowing if you go up its cancelled even after meds. That doesn't seem ethical! Unless it's for safety reasons with the egg collection anesthetic/sedation. That's the only ethical reason I can see.

Do they have a bmi limit that's similar to other clinics or are they completely unique?

I've found chia seeds so helpful. They are quite high in cals but a teaspoon in porridge helps with digestion and also make me feel fuller.

Rebekah77 · 01/05/2024 10:29

Yeah it’s U.K. exactly I have to have a general so I assume it’s for safety

adds a fun level of stress lol 😂
