I'm NHS so BMI target was 30 - I was 35.5 at the start of last year.

CakePigeon30 · 03/05/2024 12:05

Went to get weighed this morning - was actually 2 pound under so think my scales are out!! Got a phone call appointment on Tuesday to book in a time to go through the meds, then will be starting soon after that 😃😃 xx

Rebekah77 · 03/05/2024 17:25

well done !

I’ve just got to keep the weight off now through stims

I felt like I really needed some motivation to focus me so I decided to listen to some podcasts about gestational diabetes and risks of having it. I totally know that you can't necessarily prevent it and that it isn't always associated with diet/weight but just the fact there's a higher % chance if I am obese was helpful for me to think about. I sort of feel like every little helps and anything I can do at all will be in the right direction.

Deffo all helps with us being high risk already !

next weigh in 5 days then be every scan . all the protein and running fingers crossed can keep weight down

IVFlife · 09/05/2024 19:52

@Rebekah77 that's hard keeping off during stims!

No one is going to weigh me until I am preg and have st midwife appt. In someway the accountability of someone weighing me might help. But I know I might feel differently if that was the case!!

Yeah they told me to get used to it as would be weekly anyway at fetal medicine if things work !

it’s definitely stressful just hoping I can keep weight down during stims

CakePigeon30 · 09/05/2024 20:06

I've no clue if they are going to keep weighing me so still dieting just in case. Starting on the 28th! X

TorrentialHighSeas · 09/05/2024 21:13

@Rebekah77 do you mean during your antenatal appointments? You can also decline to be weighed at that. They don’t have to weigh you at each appointment.

Rebekah77 · 09/05/2024 21:15

Yes had to go for pre counselling with fetal medicine ! Was awful they gave me a telling off and said get used to the dieting and weighing it will be weekly

such fun 😂

TorrentialHighSeas · 10/05/2024 12:21

@Rebekah77 ugh why do people try and make you feel stressed? I’m sorry :(

Bex284472925 · 12/07/2024 21:37

I am the same! Got to lose probably 5 as tone altogether. I was told my BMI needs to be under 35 for the referral. I have lost just over 2 stone, so it is under 35 but I am aware for NHS IVF they will expect my BMI to be under 30.

For the last 2 weeks, I feel like I have stopped in terms of losing weight. Still doing the same thing, exercising 3-4 times a week, but I have not lost a thing. Feeling fed up as I am so determined to keep losing the weight, but it is just not coming off. I speak to people who are unaware of the situation, they keep saying well done, it doesn't matter if your not losing as you have done such a good job. All I can think is, it isn't good enough.

All I have at work is baby talk as three people got pregnant the same time, added to that two others found out their partners are expecting. I feel so down as I want this so much, but nothing is shifting. It's all about the weighing scales when I go back to the doctor's and I know I will feel like it is not good enough. Struggling, and I don't know what to do!!

I go back to the doctor's in 2 weeks.its so stressful! Especially with people who don't know or understand what is happening. I weigh myself every week, like I say it's not been great for the been last two weeks. It's almost like I don't know what to do next! Just keep hoping it will just start coming off, but I have more to lose that I feel like I don't have time to wait!!! Fingers crossed for you xx

Goldpanther · 13/07/2024 13:14

Just offering my experience in case it helps any of you.

I had to get my BMI under 30 for NHS IVF. My BMI was 33 at the start and tracking down towards 30, so the nurse filled out my form for funding with a BMI of 30. By the time funding came through I was at 28.7 and the last time I was weighed was at the appointment for the blood tests 2 weeks prior to starting stims.

I have gained back 7kg from the medications (loads of bloating and drinking extra water) and had my embryo transfer last week, they haven't weighed me since!

Rebekah77 · 13/07/2024 23:00

@Goldpanther thanks lovely

I wish this was the case for me but unfortunately they’ll be weighing every scan and collection day . They will cancel on collection day if over

joys of private !! And a general

it’s rubbish but just got to hit those numbers

wateringcanface · 15/07/2024 22:19

My bmi is teetering around the 30 mark so not much technically to lose. But I can go for a big meal, or be pmsing and wake up 7lbs heavier than day before so I ideally want to be 1-2 stone down, ideally by mid Sept to give room for little fluctuations.

I have mixed feelings, I do want to lose weight anyway, but do resent that I'm having to follow a strict diet to prove I'm healthy enough to get pregnant when my weight really won't be holding me back

That's mad!!! And a monumental waste of all the time and money put into the cycle if you are 1lb over on egg collection day!!!!

Yup it’s so stressful having to starve
I hate hate hate it
can’t wait for it to be over !

chingachush · 16/07/2024 19:41

Hi everyone!

I'm in the same boat, have had IVF previously with a previous partner and had to lose weight then, didn't think I'd have to go thru IVF again and here I am! I'm now having to lose weight again. Accepted on to the waitlist but told I'd get an appointment in about 12 weeks time and that my weight would have to be down for my BMI to be under 30! I'm at 31.7 right now which I know isn't huge but calculated it out and I need to lose 5kg but I just can't do it, it's like my weight is stagnant at that and I've tried with dieting and excercising, calorie deficit etc but can't seem to lose the extra kgs, started Pilates last week so hoping that will help. What is everyone doing to try get the weight off?

B38479392744418 · 16/07/2024 22:49

I am calorie counting and exercising 3-4 times a week. I go to a boxfit class.

I just feel rubbish as I am not losing the weight. Haven't lost anything for 2-3 weeks. Hopefully tomorrow I will have lost something to give me the push. It's rubbish when you have tried so much all week, then not lost a single pound. Especially when it is all on what you weigh.

Rebekah77 · 16/07/2024 23:17

Good luck for your next weigh ins guys

mine is in 6 days

costing me a fortune all these delays just want one round this year !

I am fasting and keto , far from ideal but I’ve not got much longer to use my own eggs !

when are you both weighing next ? Xx
