Just made my ‘Day One’ call to the clinic this week to set the ball rolling this will be my second cycle, first one failed on 12th Feb 2024.

Bit of background to how we got here, I have had 4 ectopics since Nov 2020 2 resulting in emergency surgery and losing both my tubes. No reason why our first cycle failed, we will be doing IVF/ICSI this time round.

Thank you so much to whoever suggested an ice pack and leaving the needle in for the stims. I did my first one this evening and it didn’t even hurt! I was so nervous and in the end did it myself because I was stressing and didn’t want to wait for my wife to get home but it was all ok in the end!

@2tuxedocats glad the first one went without any pain! I’ve given up the ice now and even without it doesn’t really hurt. I’m sure in a week you’ll be a pro!

I had my decapeptyl trigger at 1 am this morning, wasn't too bad but don't think I'll take up a career as a nighttime chemist... Bleary-eyed drug mixing is not my jam.

Was looking forward to a needle free day but my acupuncturist held me over a barrel saying I'd confirmed an appointment for 5:30pm that I couldn't make cos of work but she had a 48 hour cancellation policy. I argued the toss and she said she could do 9:30pm. Bloody faff, and probably caused more stress than good but it's done now.

Eggie collection tomorrow eeeek!!!

They gave me a rectal suppository for 1 hour before the procedure. Now isn't ivf the joy that just keeps giving 🤣🤣🤣

To supposit in the comfort of my own home then travel on a public train or wait and supposit in a hospital cubicle... Decisions decisions

@Becky105 when I had EC the anaesthetist asked if he could put a suppository up my bum after the procedure. I was like ermm sure? 😂

I think I need to ring my clinic today. This bloating is getting really uncomfortable now, constant heartburn, and I've put 4lbs on since Wednesday 😭

@lemonyfox oh no you poor thing! Do you think it’s from the progesterone or are you worried it’s something else? Hope you’re ok.

@HopefulllHolly I'm not on progesterone with me having a freeze all, I think it'll just be mild OHSS. I think I'll contact my clinic for advice and see what they say

Hi all, sorry for the silence, I find it hard to keep up on here! Thanks everyone for your well wishes.

I still feel pretty shocking after EC on Wed. Had a lot more bleeding than I expected, a lot of pain, very bloated, feel hungover and keep getting dizzy/light headed. Not noticing any side effects from the cabergoline but who knows what is causing which symptoms at this point 😂 I definitely didn’t rest as much as I should have, so my advice to others is to REST even if you feel good, as it’s probably just the drugs masking how you really feel!

i too had the ‘do you consent for the dr to put a painkiller up your bum’ 😂 it hadn’t been mentioned before so I was just like umm yes?

we had 7 fertilised eggs (+3 fertilised but abnormal) on day 1 after a total of 20 aspirated. Almost half were too immature so didn’t stand a chance, which is a bit disappointing.

@lemonyfox I’ve put on similar amount of weight, just realised this morning. I spoke to my clinic yesterday about the pain/bleeding (but didn’t mention the weight gain) and they just robotically said to go to a&e if it gets worse lol. Let me know if they give you any different advice! Hope you feel better soon x

@Sierra26 it's not very useful advice though is it! Like what is the definition of worse, when should we worry. I'll ring mine shortly and let you know what they say - I feel like my belly is about to pop!

Feeling really gutted after our day 9 scan. I had a follicle count of 7 at baseline scans but I only have 4 follicles growing. One lead one that’s 12mm and the others are still 8mm. Feeling really upset. The poor nurse didn’t know what to do because I was crying so much. Carrying on with stims for a few more days and going back on Monday for another tearful scan no doubt.

Sorry to hear that @HopefulllHolly if it helps I found resting over a weekend helped my follicles really grow by the Monday scan, so hopefully those 4 will be at the right size for you 🤞

@HopefulllHolly sorry to hear that. Dont lose hope though, mine did a huge amount of growing over the weekend to go from day 9 to day 12 and then even more after the trigger. Keep going little follicles.

Update from us. We had a HUGE number of eggs collected on Wed. The most the clinic had ever seen, so we left really hopeful.
Unfortunately when they called yesterday they said a lot of them were low quality and then we had lots of fertilisation issues so I was warned that we may not get any that make it to blastocyst. The embryologist kept reiterating how low quality they were. We were gutted.
Fertilisation is usually around 70-80% and we got about 30%

We’ve had an update today and we still have a good number growing away and being cultured so I’m trying to be positive. But finding it very hard to shift yesterdays repeated “low quality” “don’t know if any will make it”.

@HopefulllHolly aww I'm sorry, but everyone else is right, they'll still do a good amount of growing over the next few days. Have they adjusted your meds at all?

Spoke to my clinic and they think it's constipation for me rather than OHSS, how glamorous is my life. I haven't pood since Tuesday after my trigger shot Monday night, hadn't even realised until they asked me, so now I'm downing prune juice and fybogel. Bloody hell!

get lots of fluids and fibre in. Wishing you a “productive” weekend

Thanks @Kp1210 I hope so but preparing myself for the worst because the 3 small ones hadn’t really grown at all she said. No change in drugs, just have to carry on and see what happens by Monday. We’ll see I guess. Sorry to hear about your negative comments you got, it’s hard to get things out your head once it’s in, I get that. Im sure some of them are still good quality eggs in there so dont lose hope. 30% of high numbers will still be better than the average persons I reckon 🙂 How are you feeling? Hope you’re resting up!

I actually feel really lucky. I’m feeling ok. Bloated and a headache. But really nothing to complain about. Clinic are adamant I’m going to get OHSS but I feel ok.
Back at work today with a full diary but got a quiet weekend planned

Its hard not to be disappointed when things don't go the way you hoped,but try not loose hope,you still have a few more days to go and a lot of growing can happen in them days.

I did a bit of relaxation during mine to Tey keep me calm,there's an app called insight timer that you can search fertility on I found that good.

I am grand,just been keeping busy. Its a lovely sunny day here and we went to the beach and for lunch. My partner is back at work Monday so next week will.drag.

Test day is Monday 6th from clinic. How are you? Are you the same test day ?

@lemonyfox and @Sierra26 i think you're supposed to drink as much water as you can to help flush your system. Sorry to hear you're both not feeling great and I hope it passes soon.

@HopefulllHolly keep your spirits up and take care of yourself. Get your blood flowing by going for some walks.

I'm out of egg collection. I thought it was full sedation so when the anaesthetist explained it was deep sleep (or whatever they called it) I told my partner about the handprint story. I woke up totally normal, no funny stories.

We got a good number but had a little surprise, the Embryologist explained that our sperm (from a vetted sperm Donor had been thawed and had low motility) so we've been switched to ICSI.

Now I'll be researching ICSI like a maniac as it is not something I thought we'd need.

Yeah I feel the same. We’ve been out and about past couple of days just wishing the time would go quicker. I just think it’s going to be a long week🤣 ours is 3rd x
