Has anyone had any problems while taking maca?
I went out and bought maca powder a few days a go to try help me conceive as I've heard really good things about it... I started taking it what should have been cycle day 2 thinking it was going to bring on my period etc im now I think 5 days late im getting mild cramps but still no period
But now I've done some digging and some women have reported stopping or delaying periods
Has anyone had this problem before 🤦🏻‍♀️

Yes messed my cycle up even more. I stopped it sharpish. There is a lot of conflicting evidence some people rave about it some pcos specialists say stay well away from it. Inositol is better and much more widely researched and likened to better results than met formin x

The things we do and buy to help us conceive🤦🏻‍♀️ my cycles are around 24-26 days so I'm a little concerned as I've never been this late before, it feels my body is trying to come on but something is stopping it. I stopped taking it immediately after I read up.

I've heard a lot of good things about Inositol so that's next on my list x

i stopped birth control 11 months ago and didn’t have any periods so decided to try maca root and my period started 2 days after but i’m now on day 9 of my period, don’t know if it is because the maca root or because it’s my first period after stopping birth control. don’t know if i should stop the maca or wait it out!

It delayed my period for a week. I'm now on my cycle day two I started taking it once my af arrived I was heavy af it's calmed down a hell of a lot now I'm very light so I dunno if I'll go my full cycle length which is 5 days.
I've read maca can shorten your cycle and length it but with you not having a period for 11 months I'm not sure... maybe stop taking it for a few days your period might calm down

maca made my bleeding very light also but long! i didn’t take any today and the bleeding is pretty much gone so i think it might have cause the maca, disappointed as i have seen so many good reviews. if you’re going to keep taking it do update how it goes for you x

@ccl1 sorry to ask are you taking it to regulate your period or to boost fertility? I had a chemical last year and it threw me off ttc for awhile so we're back ttc and read maca boosts fertility which is why I started taking it I think it's done more damage then good if am honest 😂 it looks like I'll be stopping my af today it's coming to that last stage of af if you know what I mean Tmi.
I don't know whether to stop taking it or carry on I've made cakes with it and all sorts 😂

i stopped depo 11 months ago and had no periods or ovulation so i took it to try regulate my hormones so we could ttc! i also read how maca was good for fertility, but i also am not sure about it now! i know sometimes it takes some time to adjust to these things so maybe its just a case of trying it longer to see if it works for you?

id say keep taking it and track your ovulation and see how it goes this month!

it really does just sound like the maca! have you tried conceive plus ovulation support? it is supposed to be good so maybe it’s worth looking into rather than the maca x

i’m not much of an expert on periods as i have probably had more years of no af than i have had af! but yeah do stop after day 5 if it’s still lingering, i didn’t take maca yesterday and the bleeding seemed to die off and today it’s only really that yellow tinge when i wipe if you get me? so im hoping it’s going to finish.

we’re going to try this month if i ovulate, i’m going to start testing today to see if i get a peak!

@ccl1 so when your af completely stops I'd take maca and track your ovulation then stop taking after you ovulate. It will be out your system by time af shows hopefully it stays away and it's your month 🤞🏻I'd say maca has helped you with bringing on your period though which is amazing. Are you using powder form or caps?
It's exciting all of this isn't it I don't usually track ovulation I just saw it as more stress but with me taking maca im defo gonna track😂 let me know your updates please x

thank you, i’ll do that! yeah i definitely believe the maca encouraged a period, i hadn’t had one in 6 or so years and i waited so long after stopping depo with no period so had to give it a go! the only downside is i started it days before my birthday and had the nice gift of af😂 i’m taking little tablets, they’re so easy to take!

i wasn’t going to track as i don’t want to end up obsessing over getting pregnant, but i think im going to track to get an idea if im actually ovulating cause at the minute im just going by the flo app! good luck to you though! keep me updated as well🥰 x

tbh i’m glad it came i was getting worried after reading all the depo horror stories! i completely understand you tho, there’s nothing worse than waiting for af especially when ttc!

yeah i purposely didn’t get the powder cause i saw women say it was awful and i knew i wouldn’t take it😂 i got mine on amazon it was cheap too!

done my first ovulation test tonight so im hoping to ovulate this month! fingers crossed for both of us, would this be your first? x

that’s smart 😂 that sounds terrible i’m so sorry about that! when i stopped depo 11 months ago we weren’t preventing but we weren’t properly trying but then i got obsessed with thinking i was pregnant due to symptom spotting and i was convinced i was seeing lines on my pregnancy tests😩 so this time im just going to hope for the best but not let it affect me if it doesn’t happen! x

@ccl1 when you want something soo bad you end up convincing yourself with every symptom and line eyes. A lot of tlc in the tww and after.
I already have two children a 10 year old and a 2 year old. Big age gap sometimes I feel selfish because I already have children and there's women out who can't conceive so I'm extremely lucky and grateful but I also want another and my times ticking 😅😂 x

@ccl1 when you want something soo bad you end up convincing yourself with every symptom and line eyes. A lot of tlc in the tww and after.
I already have two children a 10 year old and a 2 year old. Big age gap sometimes I feel selfish because I already have children and there's women out who can't conceive so I'm extremely lucky and grateful but I also want another and my times ticking 😅😂 x

yes! i had convinced myself so much that i even believed i was too pregnant for the tests to pick up on😅 i recognise how unhealthy and toxic it was so im hopefully never going to have that mindset again!

aw that’s lovely! i have 4 sisters and my mum had the last one at 45! there’s a massive age gap between the rest of us and the youngest 😂

i wouldn’t say that’s selfish at all! i don’t have any children, me and my husband would love one but if it doesn’t happen then we’ll also be fine with that too! x

The 3rd time has proven a challenge😅 I have a condition as wel called bicournate womb, my wombs shaped like a heart but the dent is quite severe almost splitting in half and the older I get it's extremely difficult to conceive so now or never really.

Try not to get yourself so wrapped up in it, go on days out keep yourself busy and plenty of tlc 🥰

at the end of jan i thought i was pregnant and i got the easy@home tests and all mine had really bad indents, went and bought a digital clearblue and was so shocked it said negative as i had so many indents that i looked like very clear faint positives 🤦🏽‍♀️

aw yeah i’m sure another wee one would be perfect for the youngest one! have you got both boys?

oh gosh yeah that sounds quite difficult, hopefully it doesn’t take you much longer! has your GP offered much advice or help ttc this time?

were just staying hopeful that it happens without a lot of effort, we were originally going to start baby dancing every 3 days once af ended but the husband broke his foot🤦🏽‍♀️ so just tracking ovulation for now! x

@ccl1 indents are so so cruel and I used easy@home and those are the worst test I've ever purchased every single one had indents and I was convinced so I took a first response and that came back negative and I was still in denial like "nope I'm pregnant" 🤦🏻‍♀️😂 I legit took the whole box on easy@home test that cycle 😂😂😅

Aww no I hope your hubby has a speedy recovery so you can get baby making! My partner suffers with his pancreas so again with us some months we can try and others we gotta sit out on it depends on his flare ups x

i was the same! my husband couldn’t even see the lines i was seeing i felt insane😂 im telling myself to wait till when af is due to test but we’ll see how that goes 😂

i have the cheap one step ovulation strips but i dont think they’re very good so i might just get the clear blue ones with the wee faces on them so i dont have to look at lines x
