Hello, I’m 5dp5dt we had a 3BB embryo transferred which was our only embryo from this cycle. This is our third ivf cycle, we have a 3 year old daughter from an fet in 2019 and we are trying for baby number 2.

my curiosity got the better of me and I took a test which was negative 😳 I know it’s really early and not everyone gets a bfp this early but I’m already not feeling hopeful, we’ve never had a fresh transfer that worked and as much as I want a bfp I’m not sure it’s going to happen for us this time.

I'm 6dp5dt, I'm planning on testing tomorrow but I'm nervous and not sure whether to wait until Sunday. Like you, we only got one embryo this round and it was a 3BC. So if this fails we plan to do another round in April/May. When are you planning to test? Good luck!

HopefulHead · 09/02/2024 16:40

Hey, I’m 3dp5dt, second FET after the first failed, lucky enough to still have another 2 in the freezer, this was our first round.

im going to try and hold out until 9dp5dt but not sure if I’ll make it to then!

Im also not feeling terribly hopeful, had no cramping, bleeding or symptoms at all :(

HopefulHead · 09/02/2024 16:43

Also @TTC2023bb2 5dp5dt is still really early, so you may not be out yet, but I also totally understand the want to test early, especially when you aren’t feeling hopeful. I started testing at 4dp5dt last time and it did make the negative on OTD hurt slightly less and I already knew it hadn’t worked, but everything crossed its just too early to detect for you yet 🤞🏼

Gingercat5090 · 09/02/2024 16:44

I'm not feeling hopeful at all either! Already looking at dates for the next round. I haven't really had any symptoms either apart from sore boobs which I'm pretty sure is from the progesterone meds!

HopefulHead · 09/02/2024 16:46

@Gingercat5090 I usually have really sore heavy boobs leading up to my period but even that hasn’t happened and I’m on progesterone this time 😭 it’s so so difficult isn’t it, I really wish I could just sleep through the next week and wake up on test day 😂

Gingercat5090 · 09/02/2024 16:56

@HopefulHead yes it really is hard! No matter how much you try to distract yourself it's all you can think about! I'm gutted to not have any frozen, this was my first round and I don't feel it really went that well. They say the first round can sometimes be a bit of an experiment so hopefully next time will go better! Will you have another FET soon if this one's not successful?

HopefulHead · 09/02/2024 17:11

@Gingercat5090 Yeah from what I’ve seen on other threads we were really lucky to get 4 embryos from our first round!

They have said if this one fails they will put the remaining 2 in together as one is not very good quality, but we were only funded for our first transfer so had to pay for this one and any after it so we will probably need to leave it a couple of months to save the money again :(

Hoping you get more rounds funded in your area 🤞🏼🤞🏼

Gingercat5090 · 09/02/2024 17:50

Yeah that's amazing you must have been so pleased!
This was private and we went abroad for it - we are still on NHS waiting list. Like you we have to save for a few months too. Fingers crossed maybe no symptoms isnt a bad thing!

HopefulHead · 09/02/2024 17:54

@Gingercat5090 We had a pretty bad time just before EC with me starting to ovulate before we got there & they were sure if they would get any eggs so we had got to the point where we were expecting it to fail completely, so when they got 7 eggs we were so happy and getting 4 blasts from those 7 just felt like such great numbers to us. I was convinced they would all work and we’d end up with 4 kids! But then when our first get failed it just brought us back down to earth realising just how difficult this journey is and how many things can go wrong doesn’t it.

Where did you go for treatment? We are MFI, so if we did have to do another full round we don’t really know our options with transferring my DH’s sperm, but we do know we wouldn’t want to stay out our current NHS clinic as we haven’t really felt the care was great!

Gingercat5090 · 09/02/2024 18:01

@HopefulHead sorry I keep forgetting to tag you! Those are amazing stats, you must have been so stressed during the process but what a great outcome. They must have been good quality eggs!
We went to Turkey and were really happy with the clinic, even if this round doesn't work out we'd go back to the same place for a second round. I had a similar sort of problem as you - originally I was told it would likely be a freeze all due to high risk of ohss but then my stims were stopped after only 8 days because the biggest follicles had got very big and then we only ended up getting 9 eggs and only 5 were mature which I was so disappointed with. Did you have to have sperm frozen?

HopefulHead · 09/02/2024 18:18

@Gingercat5090 Oh that does sound very dissapointing if you could have potentially got more if you’d been able to stim for longer, it’s just all so unpredictable isn’t it!
Glad you had a good experience with your clinic though, definitely makes all the difference!

We had to do a freeze all due to OHSS so I never had a fresh transfer, but was obvs for the right reasons 🤷🏼‍♀️

My DH has obstructive azoospermia so he had to have surgery to retrieve his sperm which is now frozen at the clinic, so we’d either have to pay for him to have the surgery again (which was very invasive and was quite a long recovery time) or look at transferring his sperm - but both are costly options! So just hoping one of our Frosties stick for us 🤞🏼🤞🏼

TTC2023bb2 · 09/02/2024 19:27

@Gingercat5090 i was trying to hold off until 7dp5dt but will try and hold out longer if I can. I tested 7days post transfer on our first round and it was bfn and then I got my period by the next day, second round I didn’t test but I also got my period 9 days post transfer. Our fet that gave us our bfp I tested positive 3 days before our otd, our clinic only does urine testing and otd is 14 days post transfer. My otd for this cycle isn’t until the 18th and I feel like I’m going crazy, I think I’m getting af type cramps but they don’t fee like my usual af cramps, I just feel pressure in my abdomen and I felt tingling where my c section scar is, trying not to overanalyse every symptom but it’s really hard not to 🙈 xx

HopefulHead · 09/02/2024 19:43

@TTC2023bb2 That does seem like a long TWW! My clinic told me to test on 17th and I’m 2 days behind you!
It is soooo hard resisting testing isn’t it 😭

Gingercat5090 · 09/02/2024 20:32

@TTC2023bb2 when your period came last time were you on progesterone? I'm on progesterone injections and they told me it won't come until I stop taking them, my OTD is 14th Feb which is 12dpt. Sometimes I think I can feel some mild AF type cramps but I'm not sure if it's the progesterone or just my mind!

TTC2023bb2 · 09/02/2024 20:47

@Gingercat5090 yeah was on progesterone every round, first round was on Crinone gel and it was horrific, second round was a different peasary that gave me thrush but I had really high oestrogen levels and my lining was really thick at transfer, was 16mm. For my fet I insisted on extra progesterone as it worked last time so I’m on 3 x cyclogest pessaries per day which should hopefully delay my period this time until otd.

its torture not knowing whether every cramp twinge symptom is the pessaries or pregnancy hormones kicking in 🙈 forgot how hard this process was tbh, I thought it would be easier because we knew what to expect and we have had a baby, but still going to be devastated if it doesn’t work 🙈

TTC2023bb2 · 10/02/2024 02:38

I was in bed for 8pm last night and hubby woke me up coming to bed 🙈 we’re both choked up so his snoring is worse than normal and I couldn’t get back to sleep, needed to pee and thought ah well fmu technically and the test I took yesterday was a 2 pack so I thought what the hell, might as well just use it up and see what happens.

it was one of the cheapies so took a while for the screen to clear of all the dye and was about to go put in the bin when I noticed a squinter of a line! The more I looked at it the clearer it got and then tried to get a decent picture.

please tell me I’m not crazy and there is definitely a second line?! I even looked back at the pic I took yesterday and there might have even still been a reality really faint line 😳 don’t want to get my hopes up we had a chemical pregnancy in Sep 🙈

Anyone in the 2WW?

Yes there is definitely a faint line 😬😬 I really hope they keep getting darker for you 🤞🏼
Maybe try and pick up a FR or CB early one to try tomorrow morning and you may get a clearer line?

A tentative congratulations though 😘 💕

Thank you 🥰 I know it’s still early days and anything can happen in the next week, the clinic only want the result on OTD which is next Sunday 😅
im going to wait a couple of days and take another test and hopefully see a stronger line , going shopping later today so will pick up a first response 🤞🏻 xx

@TTC2023bb2 Hopefully the next couple of days will feel more manageable for you now you know you’ve seen that line and the next one you take in a couple of days will be more definite 😃

TTC2023bb2 · 10/02/2024 08:12

@HopefulHead thank you 🥰 how are you doing?

OP posts:
HopefulHead · 10/02/2024 08:25

I’m okay thank you @TTC2023bb2
I have a busy few days coming up, but then Tuesday I’m having a quiet day, which means I’ll be home alone all day with nobody there to distract me or stop me from testing 😂 so that may be the day I do it 🤭🤭

Gingercat5090 · 10/02/2024 09:20

@TTC2023bb2 that's exciting! Hopefully the line gets darker for you. I took a test this morning with a clear blue ultra early test at 7dp5dt. It was a BFN so I'm pretty sure I'm out.

HopefulHead · 10/02/2024 09:49

@Gingercat5090 So sorry to hear that 😞 7dpt can still be too early if it was a late implanted so I’ll keep everything crossed for you 🤞🏼
maybe try again in a couple of days and hopefully you may see a line 💕

Gingercat5090 · 10/02/2024 11:04

@HopefulHead thank you ❤️ my OTD is Wednesday so I'll do another test then just so I can let the clinic know the outcome and then start planning for the next round 😊 I'll keep my fingers crossed for your success 💕

TTC2023bb2 · 10/02/2024 14:31

@Gingercat5090 so sorry, might not be totally out just yet, keeping my fingers crossed for your for your otd on Wednesday 🤞🏻xx
