FET February 2024

Hi, just thought I'd see if there was anyone else doing a FET cycle in February that is looking for a cycle buddy?

I'm due to start meds at the end of this month, hopefully with transfer mid Feb. This will be my first donor embryo cycle after final attempts with my own eggs failed last year.

Hi everyone hoo you don't mind me jumping in. Had my baseline today and hopefully a transfer will be around 13th. We are transferring two Frosties. First FET after 3 rounds of IVF. First round we transferred a fresh which didn't work and these two are all we have. Possibly going on to more rounds after if we need to 🤞🏻 keeping everything crossed for you all

HeyBulldog · 29/01/2024 19:05

My lining wasn't thick enough at my scan today so my clinic have increased the dosage of Progynova and I have another scan booked for Friday. Earliest we will transfer is now 9th Feb, if my womb lining decides to co-operate 😬

Otherwise the cycle will need to be abandoned but I guess at least we'll know for next time round.

@beibikeiks that's lovely news that your transfer date has been confirmed ✨

@SadieBarts sorry to hear your having bleeding on top of everything, I hope you get good news at your scan on Wednesday 🤞

Welcome @seekingbabyk 😊

beibikeiks · 29/01/2024 19:42

@HeyBulldog I'm sorry about your lining not behaving. Crossing all fingers and toes that the meds help and you get your nice and thick lining on Friday 🤞♥️🤞

@SadieBarts Oh no, sorry about the lining issues and now bleeding. These bodies of ours never seem to cooperate when we need it the most 😩
I hope you get some good news at your scan on Wednesday 🤞♥️🤞

kirstysmbc · 30/01/2024 09:34

Hi ladies, sorry been a hectic few days celebrating my daughter's birthday so missed a few messages.

@beibikeiks Glad you finally got your smiley and have a transfer date planned. I've never been to Iceland but it's definitely on my list, it looks beautiful.

@SadieBarts Sorry to hear about the bleeding and extreme symptoms. IVF can be such a tough journey. Have you spoken to the clinic about it?

@HeyBulldog What a nuisance! What dose of progynova are you on? I'm using it for the first time in this cycle, 6mg per day, and I'm a bit worried it doesn't work. I've always used patches before and not had a problem...

@seekingbabyk Welcome!!

I've spoken to my clinic and they are saying if all goes to plan transfer would be 16 Feb, but the earliest I can do is 17. They said I'd need to speak to the doctor once all the results come in, but I might just slightly delay sending over my blood test results by one day and that would solve the problem!!

HeyBulldog · 30/01/2024 17:53

Thanks @beibikeiks ♥️

I hope your daughter had a lovely birthday @kirstysmbc! How frustrating that your transfer has been planned for a day before you can get there. It's so tricky juggling your whole life with IVF isn't it! Definitely sounds worth a try to delay sending the results, everything crossed for you that you can still transfer this month 🤞

I was on 8mg Progynova which has now been increased to 10mg. My clinic mentioned that patches can be added next time if my lining doesn't thicken for this cycle. I've also added pomegranate juice, Brazil nuts and vitamin E. I'm not sure that those will make a big difference in the next three days but it helps to be doing something I think!

SadieBarts · 31/01/2024 16:51

Bad news for me. Bleeding continued and lining has shrunk down to 5.1mm, so they have abandoned another cycle. They call to say they will try a natural next, but I have refused. Half of my naturals the lining didn't thicken, so no point in trying again and the ones that did only gt to just over 7mm. My mental health can accept failed FETs, but not constant abandoned cycles. The last consultant even said, naturals do not work for me, so why they want to try another baffles me. They don't communicate internally. Not sure what is next for me, I think I am at the end of my tether with it all.

seekingbabyk · 31/01/2024 17:04

Oh I'm so sorry @SadieBarts that must be really hard. It's strange they are suggesting another natural cycle if they know they don't work. How many cycles have you had abandoned now? And what have they had you on this one to try to improve it?

beachbum85 · 31/01/2024 17:11

I'm so sorry @SadieBarts that is really sad after all this time working on your lining 😔I do agree that they don't communicate amongst themselves at Barts (the consultant we saw before the FET investigations didn't tell the consultant who set out our protocol that I have had preeclampsia previously, and that changed the plan completely) and it's so very frustrating! I really hope they come up with a reasonable suggestion and the next cycle is one where it does thicken sufficiently 🤞🏼
As an aside, I was also at Barts today so we may have crossed each other there, coincidentally.

beachbum85 · 31/01/2024 17:22

@HeyBulldog I don't know how much difference it would make, but there are a bunch of yoga videos for blood circulation and to thicken lining on YouTube, in case you want to give it a go. Good luck on Friday!

@kirstysmbc I hope you enjoyed celebrating your daughter's birthday! Thats so annoying that you're 1 day off, but since it's medicated than delaying a day wouldn't be a problem, I guess?! Fingers crossed... let us know once the results come in.

@muddlingthrou sorry to hear about your messed up meds order - disorganisation is really not what you need when you're going through something so stressful already. When are you off on your cottage break?

@seekingbabyk hello and very best of luck!

Good luck for tomorrow @Skylab24 and @MrsWindrush !

@beibikeiks glad to hear you've got a date confirmed, and thanks for putting together that list of dates, really helpful!

My scan was fine today, so just waiting for ovulation (they said it should be the next few days) and then will have the transfer scheduled 🤞🏼🤞🏼

muddlingthrou · 31/01/2024 17:37

Aw, @SadieBarts - properly heartbroken for you. I can totally understand why an abandoned cycle would be even tougher to process than a failed one. It seems like lack of communication is a bit of a theme at fertility clinics😞

muddlingthrou · 31/01/2024 17:41

Thanks @beachbum85- we're off on Saturday for one night only. Definitely need it as my anxiety is ratcheting up! Hoping everyone else is feeling as calm and serene as it's possible to be during fertility treatment.

SadieBarts · 31/01/2024 18:09

@seekingbabyk @beachbum85 @muddlingthrou

Thanks all.

Had total 5 abandoned throughout my whole IVF journey - 1st collection:

  1. medicated, too thin - abandoned
  2. natural, thick enough but then bleed after ovulation - abandoned
  3. modified natural, too thin - abandoned
  4. natural - thick enough but only in high 7mm, BFN

2nd collection:

  1. natural, too thin - abandoned
  2. natural, thin at 7.1mm, but I pushed to proceed BFN

3rd FET attempt - medicated and thin lining again - abandoned.

Currently using my frozen embryos now, I refuse to do another collection.

@beachbum85 Oh really. My appt was 12:15pm if there was woman crying in reception, that would have been me. They are calling me back Friday after another consultation. Have told them viarga and aspirin have been mentioned previously by the consultants to build my lining up, but I have never been offered it. I am now enquiring about acupuncture, even though they shrugged this off that it helps. If doesnt help the lining, I hope it helps with the stress and anxiety.

seekingbabyk · 31/01/2024 18:18

@SadieBarts no wonder you're fed up that's a lot to go through. Could you get a second opinion on your meds etc? Acupuncture definitely helped me with stress in the past if nothing else

kirstysmbc · 31/01/2024 19:14

@SadieBarts I'm so sorry you're having to go through this. Have you tried different types of oestrogen? Some people respond better to patches than pills and vice versa. Or have you tried a combo of the two?

OP posts:
beibikeiks · 31/01/2024 19:15

Oh I'm so sorry @SadieBarts that's so frustrating, especially if the staff at the clinic are not communicating properly.
I hope they manage to find the right protocol for you soon 🤞♥️

@beachbum85 Thank you!
That's exciting! Glad to hear your scan was successful and that ovulation is near 😁❤️

Good luck tomorrow @Skylab24 & @MrsWindrush! 🤞♥️🤞

kirstysmbc · 31/01/2024 19:19

Thanks @HeyBulldog and @beachbum85 The birthday was lots of fun, and takes my mind off the whole transfer cycle.

My big concern now is when to book travel! Take a punt that my lining will be ok next Friday and book now, or leave it to be sure. As I'm going for a week, I'm thinking I can go ahead and book and if I need a few extra days of oestrogen then I'll still be away anyway...

Good luck tomorrow @Skylab24 and @MrsWindrush

Thank you everyone for the well wishes- much appreciated.

Sending love and positivity to everyone. I underestimated how tough the journey is.. so I have the uttermost admiration for those who have been through it for a number of years/cycles.

✨️

beachbum85 · 31/01/2024 22:10

@SadieBarts we must have just missed each other as I arrived at 12:45pm. Obv here is anonymous but I would have loved to give you a big hug after that tough news... That is such an ordeal with all the abandoned cycles! I'm really sorry you've had to go through all that.
Good to hear you have another conversation on Friday and I hope they offer some new potential solutions. My acupuncturist is in Bow, not too far, so please feel free to send me a DM if you'd like her name. I've been going to her since before my first cycle, and so has another now-friend who I met on here when she was also having treatment at Barts, so she's very familiar with the processes.

@muddlingthrou really nice that you have that to look forward to! I was inspired by that idea and booked a spa moring with my partner for next Fri (it's also his birthday that weekend), so hoping transfer will be Sat onwards so we can go. Relying on Mindful IVF and my acupuncture sessions in the meantime to keep the anxiety away.

@Skylab24 such a journey even when things are going to plan... Sending good vibes for tomorrow, once again, and I hope this first FET will be the one that works for you 🤞🏼

@kirstysmbc I think if you have a few days of wriggle room it should be OK to book? I guess it will get more an more expensive if you wait to see... or maybe get a one-way ticket in case you need to stay a bit longer?! 😅

Thank you @beibikeiks 😍

seekingbabyk · 01/02/2024 21:15

How did it go @Skylab24 and @MrsWindrush ?

Skylab24 · 01/02/2024 21:49

It's in! @seekingbabyk grateful and blessed to have reached this stage.

I hope your transfer goes well (the next couple of weeks, right?)

seekingbabyk · 01/02/2024 21:50

@Skylab24 yay that's great news! Congratulations on being PUPO :)

Yes I have a while yet but loving watching everyone else whilst I wait!

Congrats on being PUPO!! When is OTD? Will you wait or are you an early tester? I hope you have plenty to keep you busy while you wait

Congrats @Skylab24 ! So glad to hear transfer has gone well 😊 we're here to keep you company until test day... keeping everything crossed for you!

Skylab24 · 01/02/2024 23:41

Thank you so much 💓 @kirstysmbc @beachbum85 @seekingbabyk
OTD is the 15th but I have the option to go into the clinic 2 days earlier for bloods. I've decided to just do a test at home on OTD.

I have a lot of work to do so that will keep me occupied. Looking forward to supporting you all over the next couple of weeks 😀

IWouldRatherBeOnHoliday · 02/02/2024 01:44

Hi everyone,

I'd love to join the chat to ease the anxiety of the next few weeks!

I had egg collection before Christmas, it was a freeze all as I have PCOS so high AMH (20 eggs, 10 fertilised).

My lining took a while to thicken (started off just with patches but once they added in 3 estradiol tablets a day it shot up to 8mm by Monday).

All 10 eggs were defrosted on Tuesday and I was over the moon to hear that all 10 were still growing this morning (day 3). So very hopeful for a good embryo to transfer on Saturday 🤞 and hopefully a few to refreeze.

Sorry to hear some of you are not having the best time of it with lining thickening, I hope you can get switched to a protocol that suits you better.
