FET February 2024

kirstysmbc · 23/01/2024 22:20

Hi, just thought I'd see if there was anyone else doing a FET cycle in February that is looking for a cycle buddy?

I'm due to start meds at the end of this month, hopefully with transfer mid Feb. This will be my first donor embryo cycle after final attempts with my own eggs failed last year.

Lovely to see some positive lines this morning.

I'm 5dp5dt and negative this morning. Feeling a bit gutted as I woke up this morning with really sore boobs so thought it might be positive. This sucks.

5dpt is really early! It could definitely still change.

kaydevo7777 · 24/02/2024 17:02

@MaybeBabyTwo oh yeah 5dpt is so early, don't be disappointed. I honestly just took my super early cheapie test out of ridiculous curiosity but my understanding is that it is SUPER rare to have any proper result that early - I'm not taking anything seriously until at least 7dp5dt at least :-)

MaybeBabyTwo · 24/02/2024 17:30

This is what makes me feel like it isn't good: https://www.reddit.com/r/IVF/comments/fljrfi/when_should_i_test_an_informative_post/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf

I feel like tomorrow morning is the decider. I hate hate hate this process!

Lindyloolou · 24/02/2024 18:08

@MaybeBabyTwo Don’t give up just yet. I tested negative in my previous with DD day 7 and it was negative - faint line day 8! Fingers crossed for you x

kirstysmbc · 24/02/2024 18:44

@MaybeBabyTwo It is very early, and depends on the type of test you were using too. Unless it's a super sensitive one, you won't see anything at 5dpt!

@GCS34 yeah, i'm doing some pelvic floor yoga, drinking ginger tea, and trying to get some administrative work done, but so distracted. My plan was to wait for the blood result, but I think I'll test on sunday (day6) or monday (day7), They do the blood test on day 9 and call back the next day. I have had zero symptoms! which I'm grateful for hearing about all these other symptoms, but also makes me feel like nothing is happening.
@DiscoKitty congrats to you too!! that's super exciting

@kaydevo7777 congrats on that second line. I can totally see it and at 4dpt that is realllllly promising. I don’t know great deal about evap lines but they are generally after you’ve left a test for 20-30+ mins and then see a positive. So the fact you’ve seen it after 7 and 4 is amazing! And at night too…. Sounds promising.

@DiscoKitty congrats to you too!
and I agree @MaybeBabyTwo i really wouldn’t count yourself out — 5dpt is still early and theirs so much left of your tww. I think maybe have a few more days then test again? And like @Lindyloolou said (hey btw 👋) she only had a super faint at 8 dpt! Keep faith.

seekingbabyk · 24/02/2024 20:02

@MaybeBabyTwo 5dpt is really early - I wouldn't even think about it not working yet! I know some people get early positives but there are a lot more who are later than that!

@kaydevo7777 and @kirstysmbc did you test again this morning?

kirstysmbc · 24/02/2024 21:18

@seekingbabyk I did, and it isn't looking good. It was more or less the same as yesterday. And the lines are now fainter than my last miscarriage, which happened at 6 weeks. I'm pretty sure this is either a chemical or going the same way 😢

OP posts:
seekingbabyk · 24/02/2024 21:26

@kirstysmbc oh no I'm sorry it wasn't amazing news but it didn't get lighter which is good. I guess there can also be changes like dehydration etc to consider. You might find tomorrow it's darker still. When is your OTD?

kaydevo7777 · 24/02/2024 21:48

@seekingbabyk i tested again this afternoon, less than 24 hours since the pic I posted (I tested in the pm at the beginning). it seems the same,- I think I'll wait another whole day and then use a proper test and stop googling "evap lines vs faint lines" - driving myself nutso
@GCS34 yeah that's what I thought too -(but then fell down the internet rabbit hole) but hoping this is the case and crossing everything. how are you doing today?
@kirstysmbc your OTD is the 28th like me right? does that mean you're also 5dp5dt? If so, I hope the fact the lines are only still faint still maintains hope in you. thinking of you. everyone talks about how results appear at different paces each time, hoping that is the case for you.

kirstysmbc · 24/02/2024 21:58

@kaydevo7777 Also been down lots of Google rabbit holes. No, I'm 8dp5dt, my OTD is on day 12. My lines from my daughter's pregnancy were much darker by now, and these are not really going anywhere. I got a very faint bfp on 5dpt, so it's not even likely that it was late implantation. I'm going to try and get bloods done on Monday, that will confirm my suspicions I expect.

OP posts:
kirstysmbc · 25/02/2024 08:39

My tests this morning are definitely lighter than the last couple of days, so definitely a chemical. I hope the others in their 2ww have better luck

@kaydevo7777 @kirstysmbc sorry ladies it's so frustrating and upsetting isn't it! And yes google definitely drives you mad!

ThinkPink37 · 25/02/2024 11:17

Hello,

I’ve been lurking after having a FET on 19/2 making me currently 8dp5dt.

I had a failed fresh transfer in October 2023 and a chemical and an ectopic earlier that year.

I just thought I’d post a picture of my BFP as hopefully it offers some hope. I’m certainly not taking anything for granted and haven’t even been able to post before as I’ve been in a dark scroll hold of more chemical pregnancies/ectopics and faint positives/low HCG etc.

Anyway, I’m feeling very tentatively hopeful.

For context:
5dp5dt I had a stark white BFN
The top test is 6dp5dt
The bottom test is 8dp5dt

I’ve had erratic on off ‘symptoms’ (tasting metallic in my mouth/some breast tingling). Nothing consistent and less now than ever.

Very best of luck to all of you waiting. It’s torture!!

Morning all, what a roller coaster of news here this morning. Congrats to those with positives and big hugs for those tracking lines.

I'm definitely out as still negative 7dp5dt. Clinic are ringing me today to see if we can negotiate stopping the meds a bit earlier than 13days.

I've no idea what we do now as it's either a fresh cycle at £££ or transferring one of our dodgy frosties which seems pointless. I feel almost less sad about this one not working than I do overwhelmed about what we do next.

seekingbabyk · 26/02/2024 08:44

Coulff do not have more of a BFN this morning if it tried lol. I'm feeling fine though - I knew it was the case anyway and just feeling relieved to come off of the medication tbh.

@ThinkPink37 welcome! That looks very promising to me! Congratulations!

@MaybeBabyTwo awww I'm sorry you are negative today. Might be worth giving in a couple of days as I saw a positive at 8dpt on here over the weekend but yes I don't blame you for wanting to stop earlier. I am the same. We don't have any more Frosties so have to go in for another round but we didn't get any blasts last round so we're thinking maybe just one more and see what results we get after follow the "it starts with the egg" advice. How old are you lovely?

beachbum85 · 26/02/2024 09:44

Ohhhh @seekingbabyk - I'm so sorry 😥that's really tough! the finality is hard even when you're expecting it.... sending love xxx

@MaybeBabyTwo I'd wait another couple of days before counting yourself out but I can totally understand the overwhelm thinking of what to do next. I hope you can takes some time to process everything and come up with a plan xxx

@kirstysmbc I'm so sorry to hear that... how very shitty! Hoping for some unexpected good news for you if you do take bloods today, but I can understand how you feel and I'm sending you a huge hug xxx

@kaydevo7777 I'm hope you've seen line progression and things are still looking good! Thinking of you!

@DiscoKitty and @Staryskylark huge congrats! If you've continued to test, I hope it's been looking good. So great to have some positive news on this not-so-very-lucky thread 😍

@ThinkPink37 congrats and so happy to hear about your positive news after your previous losses! Keeping everything crossed that everything continues to go smoothly for you 🤞🏼

@GCS34 how are you feeling about next steps? have you managed to have a chat with your husband about it all? It's tough deciding what to do when there are so many sides to things. The only things I'd say is: clinics seem to have very strict rules for avoiding double transfers, so if the embryologist is recommending that, it's worth considering.
And no, I did not know the Genesis guy and am definitely going to look him up! Thanks!
With the castor oil packs, there's this oil you put on your belly under the hot water bottle... not sure it actually does anything but I was more than happy to have an excuse to lay down for 20m with a hot water bottle and not be disturbed 😅
So, I'm based in London but originally from the Med (saying the exact country would be quite outing with all the other info on here, as there's not so many of us). I'm actually back home this weekend which has been a good distraction form the BFN, although telling my close friends has been tough.

I have a follow-up with the clinic at the end of March, so I will ask about those checks, thanks. I've been prescribed baby aspirin (again, because of previous preeclampsia) but only after a positive test, so I'll ask about that too. My main question is really around progesterone as I was on Cyclogest 3 times a day, whereas only twice on my successful round, and this time was a natural one so I thought they'd prescribe less, not more. TMI: 4 days after stopping, I'm still getting the milky discharge that comes with the progesterone, so I wonder if it was too much, if there is such a thing?

Thinking of everyone else in the tww and sending positive thoughts xxx

seekingbabyk · 26/02/2024 10:55

Thanks @beachbum85 it's odd isn't it that although you want everyone to get their positive it actually makes you feel so much less alone seeing everyone else struggling too. But when you do see a positive you feel like that person has earned it and want to cheer for them!

How long after stopping progesterone does AF arrive usually? I'm guessing after being on estrogen and now being a week late it's going to be a rough one 🙄

@seekingbabyk I'm so sorry the BFN was confirmed this morning -- despite knowing it really doesn't get any easier does it? Have you managed to speak with the clinic today? And for me, both failed rounds, my period came on day 4. So like you, I stopped on Monday (just last week) and I had intense period pains on Wednesday, and started Thursday. And exactly the same the time before. So I imagine you'll start around Thursday too? Hope that helps.

@MaybeBabyTwo sorry to hear you're still not testing positive, but as so many others have said, their BFP's haven't come until 8dpt+ so you've still got time. Also, your final 'dodgy' one is the same as mine - day 6 C - so maybe refrain from the slagging it off as I am trying to be positive😉😆

@beachbum85 Yeah we spoke over the weekend, mainly just casually rather than 'what shall we do' but we've both just mutually agreed that a DET is the way forward and without discussing it 'formally', we have decided that's what we're going to do. Higher chance, the fact the consultant and the embryologist have recommended it, like you say, clearly sounds like it's the best option for us. It's just a bit daunting if it doesn't work, that we have to go back to the start again, but I Think we're prepared for that if we do. Not sure the bank account is mind 😳🙈

Thanks on the CO packs, I've obviously researched this TEN fold, and now i'm fully sold 😅What's IVF without 3am googling!? Sounds like you had a nice time back home and I'm sure the Vitamin D and family time did you the world of good. That is great that you have a consultation booked for post holiday. Were you planning to start end of March, or is this the post transfer consultation review / planning appointment? And when do you fly? And I'm nto sure you can have too much progesterone -- too little yeah, but I don't think so. Maybe it's your pre-periody kinda stuff?

@kirstysmbc how is the line today?

What is everyone's thoughts on flying 5/6dpt? I know you have IVF abroad etc, but Rome falls when we're PUPO day 5ish, so do you think it's wise or to delay?

seekingbabyk · 26/02/2024 13:45

@GCS34 not spoken to the clinic today actually but they'll probably call later/tomorrow. Might just drop them an email actually as it feels like a pointless conversation right now. But we will definitely do another round maybe may/June time so just give us time to get the COQ10 to kick back in! I would think flying would be fine tbh. As you say plenty of people fly after IVF abroad and it'll probably be good to take your mind off of it.

For me personally a city break must be accompanied by an odd glass of wine watching the world go by so that would probably be the only reason I would be more hesitant but obviously that's not everyone's jam anyway! Rome is lovely though and it'll definitely stop you from overthinking ❤️

@seekingbabyk Did you manage to contact the clinic / they ring you? I guess they'll want to book a consultation to look at findings / next steps etc, then you can make a plan. I think another round in the summer sounds like a good idea. IT's always a lot easier in the summer months I always think as it is a more optimistic time of year, and the extra day light and sunshine definitely helps with mood too.

I think I've just been worrying as it is our last 2 that I don't want anything to rock the boat, but as you and @beachbum85 say, flying and travelling after an embryo transfer (and 4+ days at that) will be fine, just got to take it easy while I'm there and just factor in plenty of [decaf] coffee stops and use the hop-on-hop-off busses to their potential! I am the same with the wine while away, but I'm actually a bit over drinking now - I only seem to do it in commiseration atm which isn't ideal 😂

seekingbabyk · 26/02/2024 17:51

@GCS34 yes me too I've hardly drunk since last summer tbh but def would find an odd glass on holiday hard to miss! Yes they called actually and were really lovely. They've booked a follow up for in a couple of weeks as it's their policy but we had planned on doing another round before this transfer so we know the protocol for next time. Yes summer is definitely easier I think and the sunshine helps everything doesn't it!

Do you know having just done a double transfer in really glad we did that. I know we have nothing now, but if they didn't work then it's unlikely they would have in two months time. It would have just prolonged the process so at least now we can move on to next steps instead. And our clinic was adamant that exercise was really good just nothing too strenuous so you might even find it helps 🥰

Staryskylark · 26/02/2024 20:05

@seekingbabyk Sorry to hear your news. I have everything crossed for you if you choose to have another go. Also agree that city breaks are the perfect opportunity for a lovely glass of wine alongside my favourite hobby of people watching!

@beachbum85 thank you, my clinic doesn’t do Betas although I wish they did.. having to rely on tests and lots of positive thoughts. It’s still very early but testing 2-3 weeks on a clear blue dating test so hoping it’s going well. I have my first scan in two weeks so praying for the best outcome..

As for travelling @GCS34 my clinic said, rest the first two days and then return to normal activities.. she said that women get pregnant all the time without realising and they carry on doing everything during those first few weeks.

We are of course way more cautious as we know what’s going on but she did say that sometimes overthinking can cause additional stress so go with what feels right..

I think it’s whatever make you feel most comfortable.. during this two week wait I convinced myself that I had ruined my chances as I got to hot one evening after falling asleep on the sofa all wrapped up in a blanket and woke up sweating! so I know how difficult overthinking is 🤣

seekingbabyk · 26/02/2024 20:46

@Staryskylark awww that sounds so promising! Finally a success story on this thread! How are you feeling?x
