I'm hoping to start my first IVF cycle
( well be doing icsi) around October.
I'm just wondering if there's anyone in a similar boat who would like to start a thread together, to share your experiences , advice or just to have general chit chat with others going through the same thing.

I'm 37 , trying for baby number 1.
We've been trying for many , many years but this is out first ivf round.
I have pcos and he has morphology issues.
I've just finished several rounds of failed clomid cycles.
I'm excited to be moving on, in the hope that ivf can offer us the best chance of starting a family but I'm not going to lie, I'm absolutely terrified.

I'd really love it if someone would like to join me on this journey

I will be starting our journey in October too !

Excited that our wait is coming to an end.

We are going private so worried about the costs too. Worried about managing the cycle along with work as well.

We have been trying for more than 3 years. So will be very happy if we get a positive result :)

Hi both

I’m one day post egg collection on my first round. We managed to get one egg to fertilise (we only had about 5% chance of getting here so staying positive that it will do what it needs to do by Monday and we can transfer.

but I mostly wanted to say just take each day as it comes. Obviously I know it’s not everyone’s experience, but honestly all of the injections were fine, I didn’t get any side effects from meds, didn’t affect work etc (starting to feel a bit hormonal now im on the progesterone) and it’s only really today now that I have to just sit and wait that the anxiety is kicking in a little bit. I do have some leave planned for post transfer but that was a happy coincidence!

Like I say, I know it’s not everyone and lots of people have a really tough time (and have been going for way longer than me), but for me it genuinely has been fine, and I could have done with hearing that a few weeks ago as I was terrified 🤣 If we have to go for a second round (we’ve paid for 2) I won’t have nearly the amount of worry I had the first time.
wishing you lots of luck and love for positive outcomes and smooth journeys ❤️

I'm 40 and trying for my first baby. This will be my first time ivf. Starting short protocol on Tuesday, all being well.

biscuitsndtea · 02/09/2023 17:53

@MrsMotts Thanks :) Glad to hear that it becomes easier for the second round.

Wishing you lots of luck ❤

MrsMotts · 02/09/2023 20:17

@biscuitsndtea easier said than done but try and just take each day at a time (I’m a chronic overthinker so not great at taking my own advice 🤣) 2 more days until we hear if we’ve made it to day 5 for transfer Monday 🤞🏼

biscuitsndtea · 02/09/2023 20:46

@MrsMotts I am a over-thinker too :) Started worrying how I am going to manage my appointments along with my work. My cycle starts this October.
How did you manage all your appointments ? How many did you have till egg collection ? How long did each appointment take ?

Wish you lots of luck for your Day 5 results. Keep us posted :)

MrsMotts · 02/09/2023 23:33

Will do thanks lovely

So I did short protocol so had 3 x scans once I started stims - one fell on bank holiday and one on a day I control my diary so that was ok. They were all super quick I was back at work within the hour.

My collection I took a sick day (but I did tell my boss what’s going on, I’ve just asked her to keep it confidential as we haven’t told anyone we’re doing this - not even family) I was back at work the day after - I felt absolutely fine (but I’m very very low risk for OHSS so I’d plan for a day off after if you can) and we coincidentally have leave booked now from day of transfer - hoping it’s a sign from the universe 😂

so I’ve kind of just worked through every bit to now but will chill once transfer happens.

biscuitsndtea · 03/09/2023 00:05

@MrsMotts Thanks xx Enjoy your time off after transfer !

MrsMotts · 03/09/2023 01:29

Thanks lovely - I’ll keep you posted. Sending lots of love for yours too x

biscuitsndtea · 05/09/2023 21:49

@MrsMotts hope everything was fine today with your day5 xx

MrsMotts · 07/09/2023 00:05

Hi lovely!

so our one little embryo did exactly what it was meant to do! We transferred on Monday. Just trying to relax and keep occupied now while we wait to see if it sticks 🥰

biscuitsndtea · 07/09/2023 11:36

@MrsMotts thats a great news 👐! Wishing you good luck xx

MrsMotts · 07/09/2023 16:58

Thank you so much. We’re hoping for the best but prepared for the worst. Our odds were very low so we’re prepared either way x

MoonlightDreamer · 15/09/2023 12:38

@biscuitsndtea have you received your schedule yet with your treatment plan ? I just got mine today . I'm feeling so nervous now

Hi all,

just wanted to wish you guys all the best for your cycles and will be keeping everything crossed for perfect outcomes. Unfortunately our first transfer hasn’t worked, so we’re on to cycle 2 with plans for some tweaks to support implantation a little better (injectable progesterone etc)
All being well/periods on time, we’ll be looking at December so maybe a nice Christmas present in the Horizon! 🥰

lots of love to you guys and will be quietly watching and hoping for the best for you xx

SocialPR · 16/09/2023 22:53

Thank you for this post! I’ve got my first appointment coming up in Oct and nervous about what’s to come with meds etc so very thankful to everyone being so open sharing all experiences! I’m bloody scared of needles and pain so already starting to feel worried!

MrsMotts · 16/09/2023 23:29

@SocialPR i didn’t find the needles too bad but I know some people with needle phobias find it easier to ice pack the area for a few mins beforehand to numb it ❤️

SocialPR · 16/09/2023 23:32

Bless you and I know it needs to be done. Thank you for the sweet message. How is everything going for you? X

MrsMotts · 16/09/2023 23:50

Unfortunately our first fresh transfer has failed today (I knew a couple of days ago though as I’m a POAS addict 🤣)

we weren’t really expected to make it to transfer - our chances were only about 5% - so to fail at the final hurdle after managing to get a great embryo was a bit gutting! My AMH is 0.6 and I have a low follicle count so we know our chances are slim.

But I’m ready for our next one now. I have an appointment with my consultant in a week, to discuss what we do next and have a plan of adding Lubion and clexane to maximise implantation, and going to enjoy a glass of wine or two until my next period arrives (after this one) and focus on eating well etc. If we can make one good embryo, we can make another one! 💪🏻

It should be December time for transfer all being well, so maybe a merry Christmas for us🤞🏼

SocialPR · 17/09/2023 09:31

@MrsMotts didnt tag you in my post lol

MrsMotts · 17/09/2023 13:29

Oh god sorry! 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️ Middle of the night scrolling and brain not functioning as it should be @SocialPR 🤣🤣

SocialPR · 17/09/2023 23:19

@MrsMotts haha I’m the same! Thank you for all your advice and support! Xx

MoonlightDreamer · 19/09/2023 23:18

Hi ladies. I've been given my provisional date for collection . Went to collect the medication today from clinic ( we drove 2 hours) only to realise we forgot our ids , which apparently they won't issue the meds without photo id . Ahhh , we now have to drive all the way back on Saturday morning. I'm due to start noristherone on Monday to control my cycle and after that I'll start swimming.
@MrsMotts sorry to hear your transfer didn't take.
