I'm hoping to start my first IVF cycle
( well be doing icsi) around October.
I'm just wondering if there's anyone in a similar boat who would like to start a thread together, to share your experiences , advice or just to have general chit chat with others going through the same thing.

I'm 37 , trying for baby number 1.
We've been trying for many , many years but this is out first ivf round.
I have pcos and he has morphology issues.
I've just finished several rounds of failed clomid cycles.
I'm excited to be moving on, in the hope that ivf can offer us the best chance of starting a family but I'm not going to lie, I'm absolutely terrified.

I'd really love it if someone would like to join me on this journey

Hi everyone.

I was wondering those of you on the shirt protocol how did you get on? What did you do to help with the cycle?

I dont have a date as to when il start my cycle. They said I will be doing the short protocol as my AMH is 17.4 and at the lower end of normal for my age (33) wel be going ahead with ICSI as OH hasn't had the best results either. Im now awaiting my nurses appointment to sign papers and go over medication. Not sure how long we will be waiting for the next appointment. I just wanted some advice on how to prepare etc. I feel really nervous 😓 😬

I'm starting meds mid October with egg retrieval second week in novemeber it's my first Roy d and nothing has really been explained to me by the clinic yet. Trying for 2 years I'm 36. We actually managed to fix my partners morphology issues ourself was in a very short timeframe he has less than 1% and follow up was normal . I've no idea what to expect and I'm very anxious.

MoonlightDreamer · 04/10/2023 09:35

@LizzeyBenett can I ask what you did? I've had him on Proceive men and limited his sugar intake ( he's quite healthy dosenr drink smoke and is ideal weight anyway) but his morphology was still poor. Supplements have done diddly squat to his swimmers

If you go onto YouTube there is a couple called fab and Elle they did a video on what supplements they took and got pregnant with twins having very bad results on his part and that's what we did but also cut out all alcohol makes a huge huge difference . Now we still haven't conceived naturally but at least his sample is normal now.

biscuitsndtea · 04/10/2023 13:45

@MoonlightDreamer they havent provided a exact date. They asked me to ring on day1 of the period

MoonlightDreamer · 04/10/2023 14:12

@biscuitsndtea thanks for that.
That is what I find strange. My clinic have told me to start on 12th, regardless of what date my period comes. Everybody on the same protocol seems to suggest they start early while on a bleed and from Google searching it says I should be starting before day 7 of cycle. However, it's going to be cycle day 9 for me when I start. I'm just baffled why they are doing things differently for me. I'm worried I'm probably not even going to be stimulated . They just seem completely uninterested by my concerns

@LizzeyBenett
Thanks . I'm guessing my OH just has really stubborn swimmers. Of course they'd have to be coming from him 😄
He's been on Proceive and I've even added in some maca and amino acids and we haven't had any improvement. It's just another challenge and unfortunately means we're having to fork out an extra 1+k for every cycle

Zinc is important as well and I have my OH on Hight strength CoQ10 also.

Hi all - reading thought the messages and I would love some support on questions to ask at the first IVF appointment. We finally have been referred but overwhelmed online as so many conflicting questions. Any tips to ask at the first appointment would be greatly appreciated. Will be needing ICSI - sorry if I'm not posting on the thread as quite new on here! x

MoonlightDreamer · 05/10/2023 21:38

@SocialPR the best thing you can do is take a little notebook to write anything down . We often found ourselves wondering what was it the consultant said ect and immediately after leaving our first appointment I remembered so many things that I wanted to ask but at that moment of time in the actual appointment I had forgot. I guess I was just lost in the moment trying to take everything in. I didn't write them down and then by our next appointment I couldn't even remember what the questions were haha. Even now I have all these questions that I didn't get asking the consultant but we've been moved away from him and our care and communication is now left with the nurses and they won't let me directly speak to consultant. So yeah, take a little notebook and as soon as you ever think of anything write it down so at least you'll have them for any subsequent appointments.

@MoonlightDreamer thank you for your detailed reply! Really kind of you to suggest as you know when you have so much on your mind and don’t even know where to start! Thanks so much and any suggestions on good questions which helped you would be amazing! Thanks again x

Hi, a little bit about me: 36YO tried for baby 2 for over 2 years. Just did our second ivf cycle (long protocol) and I have low AMH soo unfortunately not many eggs and none to transfer. My question is as I don’t feel I have time on my side, how long should I wait to start the next cycle? November would be my next normal period and December would be the second…Just to add context

Millie89xx · 18/10/2023 13:51

MoonlightDreamer · 18/10/2023 14:33

Hopesandsunshine · 18/10/2023 17:09

Hey, it wasn’t as bad as anticipated, first time felt unpleasant but I think it’s because they didn’t give me enough sedation but second time I was fine and felt very relaxed and sleepy! Hope that helps 😊 best of luck for collection
