First Two week wait following FET

Looking for some wait buddies. Finally made it far enough to have a two week wait - I’ve read about these for the last 3+ years and now, 24 hours after transfer I’m itching to wish away the next 10 days!! Any advice appreciated (and good news stories) xx

Hey! Amazing congrats officially PUPO 🥳 got to be the longest two weeks EVER! I’m a week after you and now 9dp5dt with my OTD on the 15th!

only advice I would say is do not cave in and test early, you just put yourself in an obsessive testing mode and even if you have faint positive you will make yourself anxious that it’s not progressing or what if it’s a biochemical 🙈 this is what I find but I know some people really like doing it but definitely not for me xx

Ellenn · 10/08/2023 06:21

Also what I do is at the start plan fun/nice things to do every day for distraction and look forward to. Just so I don’t end up thinking about it all the time (it can get a bit consuming sometimes). How are you feeling?

SErunner · 10/08/2023 06:48

Hi @Matilda27 👋 I'm going for my third transfer today (so long as it defrosts okay). Would love to join you! When is your OTD? Wishing you much luck.

Like @Ellenn said I personally would try and avoid early testing as once you start you can't stop! I've managed not to with both my last transfers and at least when you get the result you know it's definitive.

I also try to book things in/keep busy. I find the first half of the wait not too bad, it's the last few days I feel completely crazy! Someone else mentioned audiobooks to help you sleep if you're struggling which I thought was a good idea. But generally it is a bit of a shit time, hopefully all worthwhile for you though 🤞🤞🤞 I bled at 6dp5dt last time during our unsuccessful transfer (we have a daughter from our first) so I think I will feel more positive if I get past that milestone.

SErunner · 10/08/2023 06:49

And in good news stories, our two year old was conceived from our first transfer of our first round - it does happen! And she wasn't even a blastocyst on day 5 so had rubbish chances at that. All fingers crossed for you x

SErunner · 10/08/2023 06:50

How are you doing @Ellenn ? When is OTD? Must be soon if you're 9dp?!

Ellenn · 10/08/2023 07:37

@SErunner my OTD is Tuesday so still a bit to wait yet 😳 I did do a medichecks beta this morning and stuck in post. I don’t want to do any urine tests until my official date as I’ve had multiple ovitrelle so may mess up results. I figured it will be a pretty obvious number either way! Period due probably today/tomorrow. I was quite crampy last night and trying not to worry about it but your brain automatically thinks period! Both my last transfers that had a positive test I also cramped so who knows 🤷‍♀️ argh it’s the worst wait

Ellenn · 10/08/2023 07:38

@SErunner good luck for your transfer!! 🥰

SErunner · 10/08/2023 13:58

Gosh that's a long wait to OTD @Ellenn. Mine is 11dp5dt? I'm sure you'd get a positive tomorrow if it had worked and I'm pretty sure Ovitrelle is out your system within a few days? Hope your blood test comes back soon 🤞 I had cramping with both my successful and unsuccessful transfer - so annoying our bodies can't give us any clear signs! Will hope everything goes well for you 🤞

Ellenn · 10/08/2023 14:22

@SErunner yeh I know 🙈 I think it’s cause it’s a natural transfer and I had to take x3 ovitrelle injections before and after transfer as it apparently helps improve pregnancy rates by boosting your lining. The data sheet does say it can take up to 10 days 🤷‍♀️ it probably is gone but I don’t want to test and get a faint line and be like is it real or not. Would rather wait until OTD or when I get my beta result back which might be Monday!

still have a little cramping but not constant I’m on high alert pant watch 👀

how are you feeling with embaby on board?

SErunner · 10/08/2023 14:32

Totally fair enough @Ellenn! I've never heard of people taking Ovitrelle post transfer before, just before ovulation in a natural modified or as a trigger for a stim cycle. So interesting how they all have their own preferred approaches! Will be thinking of you over the weekend x

I'm just waiting for transfer now. Looking forward to hearing what the embryologists say about how it's looking, I've not had an FET before. Was surprised how anxious I was about it not defrosting but as they haven't rung I assume all is okay!

Ellenn · 10/08/2023 14:36

@SErunner yes my clinic does it for completely natural cycles so you have it 3 days before transfer, day of transfer and 3 days later! But no other meds. So I’ve had quite a bit and just don’t want to be disappointed if some is still lurking around to cause a false positive.

oooh good luck, I’m going on no news is good news. Usually they defrost first thing so I think you would of heard if an issues surely. Hope it all goes smoothly, and defo get a wee scan image if you can! I got one at this transfer and that’s the first time I got offered one. Definitely a keeper! xxx

Belle26 · 10/08/2023 15:09

Hey! I'm a few days ahead of you, I'm currently 5dp5dt. This is our 4th IVF round but first round using donors. I caved and tested at 3dp fully knowing it was to early and would be negative but to my surprise it was a BFP! I definitely don't recommend testing early if you can help it though.

When is everyone's official test date? My beta in next Friday

Ellenn · 10/08/2023 15:22

@Belle26 congrats! That’s amazing I’ve never heard of getting a positive so early! You didn’t take any ovitrelle/triggers which may give false positives?

im 9dp5dt today and my OTD is on Tuesday!

Belle26 · 10/08/2023 15:43

Thank you @Ellenn I was completely surprised myself. It was a pretty strong line for 3dp5dt. No triggers this time as we used donors so it's the same process as a FET.

How are you feeling about testing? Have you had any possible symptoms?

ASGIRC · 10/08/2023 16:04

@Belle26 Thats amazing!!!!! I had my 1st BFP at 4dpt, but I didnt notice it until the next day, and thought it might have been an evap line. But there was also a line on 5dpt and a stronger one on 6dpt.

Congrats!!!

Matilda27 · 10/08/2023 16:40

Hi everyone. Sorry for the late reply. Decided to go back to work today to keep my mind off of things! Crazy I know...

So I had a 5 day transfer on the 8th August so does that make me 2dp5dt? Sorry new to this! They've told me to test on the 18th. Seems a lifetime away!!

@eLLENThank you for the advice. Trying to keep my mind off testing but am MAJORLY tempted don't know how long it'll last!

@SErunner Thank you for the good news stories. I am big on them cos I read so many sad ones :(

@Belle26 Congrats! That's amazing and v tempting to make me test early now hahaha! Stupid question probably, still getting used to terminology but what is a beta my clinic hasn't mentioned this one before?

Thank you everyone! Feels so nice to finally chat to people in the same situation... Xx

OP posts:
SErunner · 10/08/2023 16:50

Yes exactly @Matilda27, you're 2dp5dt assuming it was a 5 day embryo? Beta is a blood test to check HCG levels. My clinic don't do these, a urine sample is sufficient on OTD (this varies between clinics, usually between 10 to 14 dpt, mine is 11 and yours would be 10).

My transfer is done, the embryo had expanded nicely so they were happy with the result.

@Belle26 that's amazing! I've never heard of someone getting a positive so early! Hope it progresses nicely for you.

@Ellenn that makes sense, good to be certain. Hope the next few days aren't too torturous.

Matilda27 · 10/08/2023 16:54

Ah thank you @SErunner still getting used to it all. Wish I had thought of coming and posting here sooner! Glad your transfer went well. Got everything crossed for you xxx

OP posts:
Belle26 · 10/08/2023 19:51

Thank you everyone. The line seems rough be getting a little darker every day so I have everything crossed this is it.

I have everything crossed for you all on testing days too!

Ellenn · 10/08/2023 20:14

@Belle26 🥰 that’s great, I hope it stays that way but looks super hopeful if it’s already implanted that early!!!

I’ve been having a little bit of cramps but other than that no symptoms 🤷‍♀️ so who knows! Just got to wait it out ….

ASGIRC · 10/08/2023 20:28

@Belle26 Out of curiosity, did you put back 1 or 2 embryos? Cause thise high levels of hCG usually mean multiples! Not saying this is what that is for sure, as obviously it would need to be checked, but its a definite possibility. Had you considered it???

@SErunner congrats on the transfer. Fingers crossed it goes well!

Belle26 · 10/08/2023 21:27

Cramps can be a good sign @Ellenn. Loads of people don't have any symptoms at all.

@ASGIRC we transfered one back but the doctor said it had already hatched and was ready to implant. I'm guessing it must have implanted straight away. I did test the evening of 3dp, maybe that was the reason too

ASGIRC · 10/08/2023 21:33

@Belle26 yes, that could also be it! Mine was a 3, so wasnt hatching yet, and even then I had a very faint line in the evening of 4dp.
Im sure your beta numbers will be amazing next week!

DauntedAF · 11/08/2023 08:59

Folks I'm similar timeline to @Ellenn , 8dp5dt with official test date on Monday, although planning to do a home urine test tomorrow

No symptoms at all but I didn't on my last transfer which was a bfp.

I've no idea when my period is due tbh because of I've been on amd off the pill a bit in prep for this and previous cycles. I'm guessing it's a few days away

Out of interest is it only worth testing with first morning urine? Half tempted to do a sneaky test this afternoon

Ellenn · 11/08/2023 09:13

@DauntedAF so jealous your OTD is a day earlier than me 🤣 now I should be 10dp5dt, so we are very similar timescales!

so woke up super early this morning and feeling quite nauseous 🤢 for my last transfer which worked i also didn’t feel that great very early on. Just seems super early to see any symptoms so wondering if it’s just my head making it up🙈

I think it might depend how much you drink during the day. If you usually drink lots of water and your urine is quite dilute it might be better to do morning. Although I would say be ready to become crazy about peeing on things if you start!!!
