IVF Early Pregnancy Symptoms - or lack of!!!

Hi everyone,

Hope you’re all well

I am so confused and worried, after having 3 previous losses (an ectopic resulting in the removal of my right tube, a Chemical and a missed miscarriage) I am not pregnant again through IVF, fresh transfer.

I am 5 weeks today, since 7dp5dt I have been spotting for a week and now it’s stopped. Anyway I have no symptoms, no increase in CM, no sore boobs, nothing! I’m so confused.

if anyone had anything similar with an IVF pregnancy I’d be really grateful in hearing it

terrified that it’s another loss and my clinic won’t do me a HCG or progesterone test which is annoying, I am paying so I don’t see why it’s an issue (anyway that’s a story for another day)

thank you xxx

@DanielleLouise1996 i could have written this myself! Sorry to hear the stress your under.
Im 4 weeks 5 days with an IVF pregnancy and have pretty much been symptom free. I spotted from days 5-10, then stopped and came back for a day or so earlier this week, that’s now stopped now.

I’ve only had mild soreness in the breasts which completely disappeared today throwing me into a complete breakdown! Like you my clinic don’t go HCG or progesterone tests so I searched high and low to get some private ones done today. I’ve googled and looked at many forums where people say they have had a successful pregnancy without symptoms and it’s completely normal not to have any.

If you anything like me this doesn’t give me much comfort.

I can’t give much insight/advise as I’m in the same boat but your not alone.

Hi @DanielleLouise1996

I also had IVF in 2021 and gave birth just over a year ago. I had dark brown spotting on off from week 8-16 (I was on progesterone suppositories) and was referred to the hospital due to the spotting and the consultant said it’s very normal to have spotting when you are on progesterone.

Are you on progesterone? I also lost all pregnancy symptoms 2 days after I tested positive so it’s completely normal not to have symptoms.

Have you been booked in for a scan at your IVF clinic?

SErunner · 27/07/2023 21:32

I had no symptoms until I turned 6 weeks and then had the most horrendous morning sickness start. I can't say I ever noticed anything other than that in the first trimester though. So sorry for your previous losses and can fully understand the anxiety, but try to stay hopeful. Wishing you well.

I am now pregnant * that should read! X

Congratulations on your birth 🥰

I am on progesterone but taking them rectally because I ended up getting thrush from doing it (sorry tmi!)

Im booked in for a scan with my clinic at 7 weeks, but can’t wait that long 🤣 so I’ve booked in for another private scan at a local place for Tuesday xx

wow!!! I can’t believe we are in the same boat. I really hope it works out for us. Have you considered getting a private scan? I think you should be able to see a bit at this point! I looked at progesterone and HCG tests but I know you need to do HCG 2 weeks apart so it was working out at £270 for the three tests. Not what you need on top of IVF costs!

youll have to let me know how you get on xxx

Hey Op,

I had virtually no symptoms throughout my first trimester ( ivf pregnancy too) except a bit of tiredness around 8-9 weeks and the lack of symptoms made me an anxiety ridden mess ,I was convinced something was wrong and I was on here looking for similar experiences :) .

I’m 17 weeks now and other than some lovely acne that came with a vengeance around week 11 .I still haven’t had many of the “ classic symptoms” such as sickness etc.

Hope that helps, best of luck to you !

SH998 · 28/07/2023 04:40

@DanielleLouise1996 similar cost here, I think about £265. I’ve booked another HCG for Sunday so should have all details early next week. The credit card is my best friend right now lol 😂

I was hoping to do an early scan too as my clinic doesn’t scan until 8 weeks which in my head is like a million years away! It was at the last 8 week scan I found out the baby’s heart had stopped last time so that was never going to be an easy time for me but looks like I’ll have concerns before I even get that far.

Please keep me updated on how the scan goes I’ll keep everything crossed for you 🤞🏼

Congrats ladies on your births/pregnancies, the stress never ends does it. It definitely is a rollercoaster ride from start to finish.

SErunner · 28/07/2023 07:05

@DanielleLouise1996 just to say, they don't recommend scans until 7 weeks for a reason - before then results can be very ambiguous and cause unnecessary worry. You won't necessarily see a heartbeat before then and sizing can be difficult to judge. Of course go ahead if it will help you, but be prepared they might not be able to give you much reassurance. Take care.

K2012 · 28/07/2023 09:40

Hi @DanielleLouise1996

I took them rectally as well and still had spotting 2-3 days a week for 8 weeks. It even continued about 2-3 weeks after I stopped progesterone. It suddenly stopped the day before I went to see the consultant.

All the best with the scan and do keep us updated ❤️❤️❤️

DanielleLouise1996 · 28/07/2023 10:45

Thank you! I’m just so scared after my ectopic that if they see a gestational sac, then that’s one thing I can stop worrying about and then hopefully see a heartbeat by my 7 week scan at my clinic xxx

I am 10dpt, pregnant, and have zero symptoms.
No boob soreness, zero spotting, no cramps (though today I might be feeling some, but it might also be constipation and trapped air, as Ive been having a bit of that), nothing!

Im not stressing about the lack of symptoms, because I am hoping for a pregnancy free of any nasty symptoms 😂but I keep second guessing my tests. Is the line getting dark enough? Is my hCG value good enough for 4+1?

Im almost 100% decided Im gonna do a private hCG on tuesday (4 days after my 1st one) to see how things are progressing. Fortunately, theyre a bit cheaper where I am (only about 25/30 euros)

SH998 · 29/07/2023 14:24

@ASGIRC
Congrats on your positive 😃

I’ve only had 2 symptoms which are tiredness and mild breast soreness, however, I woke Thursday my OTD with absolutely no breast soreness at all.

This threw me into a hissy fit and I ended up booking 2 lots of bloods, one HCG and one progesterone with the second HCG to follow tomorrow. I’m praying the levels on the HCG have increased as they should.

ASGIRC · 29/07/2023 14:56

@SH998 I forget, how many dpt are you now?
I'm sure you will have the results you're hoping for!!

I just bought a digital test to see what it says tomorrow! 😂

SH998 · 29/07/2023 15:12

@ASGIRC im now 16dp5dt (5 weeks today) and don’t feel pregnant at all ☹️.

Are you going to be able to wait until tomorrow? I’m a serial tester lol 😂

ASGIRC · 29/07/2023 15:29

@SH998 dont worry, I dont feel pregnant either! Not a symptom in sight. Hopefully I take after my mom, who also didnt have symptoms.

Yes, I will be able to old out, as someone on the other thread gave the very good advice to only test every 2 days, as thats when it doubles!!! So the difference in the lines is bigger!! So thats what Im gonna do.

Apart from today, I have tested every day since 4dpt! Sometimes twice a day.

Do need to buy some more cheap tests, though!

DanielleLouise1996 · 07/08/2023 09:09

Hey! How are things with you? I have my first scan on Wednesday, I cancelled my other due to it being my friends wedding the next day and I was bridesmaid so didn’t want to be upset if it was bad news. Xx

OP posts:
SH998 · 07/08/2023 10:22

@DanielleLouise1996 how did your scan go? How many weeks were you and was you able to see a heart beat?

I'm debating whether to book an earlier scan, I'm currently 6 weeks 2 days and have been told my viability scan via my clinic will not be until I'm 8 weeks 3 days, that's going to be an absolute torturous wait which I'm not sure I'm going to be able to do.

How are your feelings? Are you still symptomless?

DanielleLouise1996 · 07/08/2023 12:12

My scan is on Wednesday (2 days to go!) and I’ll be 7 weeks then, so I’ll let you know how it goes and yep still symptomless 😩😩

8 weeks + is a long wait isn’t it! My clinic said from 7 weeks you should be able to see a heartbeat 🤞🏼

OP posts:
SH998 · 07/08/2023 12:36

@DanielleLouise1996 Oh good luck for Wednesday, I'm sure time stands still during IVF lol :) I'm sure by then you will see something. How you feeling about it?

Same here, I have the odd symptom but they go as quick as they come.

I've now booked an early scan for Friday evening (Ill be 6 weeks, 6 days) so hoping ill see something. There is no way I can wait another 2 weeks for one at my clinic. I'm not sure how I feel about it, it should be an exciting, enjoyable experience but after the trauma/upset of IVF I don't think ill ever find the pregnancy enjoyable due to constant worry.

SH998 · 09/08/2023 08:23

@DanielleLouise1996 good luck for todays scan :)
