IVF Anxiety

Hey everyone. I have really bad anxiety after receiving my consent forms for IVF. I start treatment this month and I’m paranoid about OHSS. I would love to hear your stories.

Hey @wtawtaw I dropped you a DM to check in on you the other day - not sure if it came through now mind you?
I'm all good. So to cut a very long story short, I went in on Fri and they pushed me for another 3 days to get some bigger sizes up there, with my final scan today. I have 50 in total now, with estimated around 20-25 mature eggs in there. We have collection booked for Wednesday at 11am, and I'm now on a Freeze All cuz they're worried with the amount of follicles, I would be really pushing it. They've changed my trigger to bureselin instead of ovitrelle as that lessens the chances of OHSS, but they have said I'll likely get mild. So i'm prepared.

That's great news on your numbers!! Especially that many mature eggs, are you pleased? Good luck for egg collection on Wednesday!! And hope the OHSS doesn't hit you too hard - take it easy.

I'm ok thank you, still wondering if I'm still pregnant 🤣 I haven't tested since OTD on 21st July, just waiting for my 7 week scan on the 10th aug. Going SO slow! Hopefully we make it to then anyway 😅

@wtawtaw I think for some reason the app doesn't support DM's, but if you go via the website on safari or whatever, you can see them?

Yeah I'm pretty shocked, they just kept going up and up and up! Ever scan just uncovered another 4/5 follicles, and the sizes are pretty big now too. Needless to say, life is pretty uncomfortable right now! 😅Thank you! I will let you know how many we get out of Weds appointment and how many Mature 🙂Hoping that we'll get a decent number of mature.

Haha i think I would be TOTALLY the same, I'm surprised you've not tested though - I would 100% have tested every day by now 😂10th August is not long away at all!! What are you going to do RE telling people? Wait until 12 weeks, or after the 7 week one? You defo will make it - this is your time!! It's such a shame that we don't enjoy that first month isn't it?

@GCS34 ah ok I'll just on the web later! That's crazy, when my follicles kept going up they lowered by dose and that was only with just over 20! clinics vary so much in their protocols don't they. Yes please keep me updated 😃

I've bought more tests but I thought to myself if the line isn't as dark as OTD then that would set my anxiety off big time and I can't cope with that right now so I decided to hold off. That's the only thing that's holding me back!

Deffo going to wait until at least 12 weeks, but may stretch it to 20 weeks, see how we feel at the time should we be blessed to get that far 😅

Are you going for a natural FET next cycle?

@wtawtaw the wonders of sneaking a reply on my laptop while working 😉I think because although I had volume, I didn’t have many big ones which is why they kept me ticking over to get those bigger and it kept making new ones! Honestly I think I might explode soon 😂

yeah that’s very true! I think I would over analyse like you. I think you’ve made a good choice and made me think that i will probably do the same when our time comes now you’ve said that. Sometimes ignorance is bliss! I think you’ve made a good decision 🤍

good idea. I think we said we’d defo not tell anyone - parents included - until the 12 week scan. Got to get pregnant yet! So no it will be a medicated FET as I have pcos and don’t have regular cycles at all and no base levels of hormones so they have to give me estrogen to thicknen my lining up.

@GCS34 haha I bet!! Can't imagine what you must be feeling like!!

Ahh thank you! Although it's hard to not double check, I'm loving living in the happy pregnant bubble and would like that to continue for as long as possible!

@wtawtaw i am just focusing on getting them out on Wednesday! Though that’s only half the battle. I am assuming I am going to feel worse post egg collection than now! 😳

defo not easy and I bet majority of people take like 15 tests in the lead up to their first scan. Least we get the benefit of a preview scan at 7 weeks! Can’t wait to hear how it goes on the 10th. Only 10 days to go!!!

No mine was a my second fresh transfer (didn't get any frozen last time).

@GCS34 WOW!!!! What a number 🤩 that's brilliant. Fingers crossed a lot of them fertilise! Are you doing icsi or standard ivf? How are you feeling in yourself?

@wtawtaw hahaha yeah mad. I thiught loads would have been empty. They had 18 and 11 to collect on their fork and somehow found another 11 that were ripe too!

standard IVF as it’s only pcos issues not male factor. And pretty rough. My stomach is agony. I thought my ovaries would hurt but they’re fine it’s just all painful around my belly button and just above. Did you get that as you had a good batch too didn’t you?

@GCS34 on a fork 😂 I just had period type pain for a couple hours after egg collection but then I felt fine! I felt much worse after my first egg collection (only 9 eggs) and couldn't stand up straight for 3 days!

@GCS34 oh 🤣 I actually thought you meant fork, did think that was odd but I know all clinics are different and all that 🤣

I feel a bit nauseous on and off (since yesterday) - although not sure if that's an anxious symptom or pregnancy symptom! Sore boobs (sorry if tmi!) decreased today too so naturally panicked 🙃

@wtawtaw i mean, they may have got them out using a fork. Might explain why I hurt! Maybe that’s the secret to getting 40 eggs.

ah that’s shitty! I don’t think it’s in your mind. I swear I read that you only really start getting symptoms at 6 weeks. Everything else before is the drugs (when ivf is involved!) sore boobs is defo a sign somethings going on. This morning before surgery I had agonising stomach ache and sore boobs. I can only imagine that it was my body trying to ovulate and get these f**kers out of me, so sore boobs defo mean something!!!

@GCS34 yeah it's the sore boobs that have decreased for me though 😩

@GCS34 yeah, it seems they stop hurting during the day and come back a tiny bit at night, don't hurt as much as they did a week ago though 🤔

WOW!!!! That's AMAZING!!! you must be over the moon!! Bet the clinic were even shocked weren't they?! 😅 let me know how your day 3 and day 5s go , fingers crossed!! (They may have to buy another freezer 🤣)

hahaha know right 🙈was way more than expected. Tbh I was surprised 39/40 were mature! I thought a bunch of them would Jusy be shitty little ones. But yeah! Mad. Expecting the drop the next few days but not a bad starting point. 10 others fertilised too but abnormally so wouldn’t have been a viable pregnancy. They did say I was topping the leaderboard 🥰😂

@wtawtaw haha I dunno about that but we do have some good update news!!

sooooooo we had 18 that made it to day 3. And overnight of those 18, 9 made it to day 4 and nearing blastocyst!!!
She said that the main drop is overnight from day 3 to day 4, so we’ve done the worst bit and got 9 from it. she said theirs not much drop from day 4 to day 5 - theirs rarely much difference - the main is 3 to 4. So she said that the 9 today are looking really really good, how they should be at day 4, and should make it to tomorrrow to freeze! She said they look really good quality as it stands. 🤞

there are also 8 others that are still developing well, but just slightly behind the 9. But the main thing she said is that they didn’t drop off over night and had continued to develop, Just slightly slower, So they’re keeping them going until day 6 so we may get another few out of that too but yeah. Mental. Keep high fiving my ovaries and telling the embryos that they have a lovely comfy bed when they come home in my uterus and I promise to feed them chocolate constantly when they’re growing😂🫣 slowly losing my mind.

@GCS34 so pleased for you! You must be absolutely thrilled with those numbers. Did anymore make it on day 6? Will you be getting any genetically tested? How do you choose which to transfer out of all that lot 🤩 have you got gradings for them?
