Hey everyone. I have really bad anxiety after receiving my consent forms for IVF. I start treatment this month and I’m paranoid about OHSS. I would love to hear your stories.

@wtawtaw 😂 oh the joys of pessaries. Hopefully you’ll have to continue that treat for another month all being well! So what time you getting up Friday to test?! 😆 really hoping for you 💉🤞🤍

@GCS34 god knows what time I'm going to be awake tomorrow!! Bricking it 😅😂

wtawtaw · 20/07/2023 15:07

@GCS34 also, my clinic stops the Progesterone on OTD whether you are pregnant or not!! I've know most other clinics carry on unlit 8 or 12 weeks!

Oh really - any reason why do you know? I have them until the 7 week scan! Hopefully anyway! I'm so scared for collection that we're not going to get many, and only 1 embryo. Praying your girls luck rubs off on my PCOs!
Exciting times. How do you feel aside from scared? Sending lots of luck over to you!!

Ellenn · 20/07/2023 16:49

@wtawtaw at my first cycle when I did my fresh transfer the clinic also stopped progesterone on testing day! They had told me research data showed that additional progesterone was not needed after implantation during fresh cycles 🤷‍♀️ but seems like lots of clinics use for much longer! I hope you get a lovely second line tomorrow morning 😁

I’m going to ask my clinic if I can get some progesterone after my frozen transfer since I’ve had two early miscarriages though, will see what they say at my scan!

wtawtaw · 20/07/2023 21:37

@GCS34 @GCS34 no, I don't really know but I will certainly ask them! There must be some evidence behind it I imagine. Thank you for the good luck wishes 😊
Aw don't be scared, when is your collection likely to be? Have they given you any reason to feel the way you do?

I imagine there is. They’re the experts and I guess they’ll only do what’s best for you and mr. Embryo. I like I how I am referring to your embryo as a he. If it is, I want a prize! What clinic are you at out of interest? And did you say you were 28 or have I got muddled up?

I think because one round on OI my body just didn’t respond to the injections and it’s scarred me a little. I have over stimmed, under stimmed and one good stim so I guess I don’t have any consistency to go off of so naturally Jusy think the worst 😂🙈

sending luck for the AM please do let us know if you feel you are comfortable to! 🤍

wtawtaw · 20/07/2023 22:57

@GCS34 haha I did notice that the other day and thought hmmm maybe she's telling me something! 💙 I'm 36 and with the BCRM.
Which clinic are you with?

Haha you never know I might be 👀 ahh I’ve heard a lot of ppl go there in Bristol. I’m with TFP nurture fertility in nottm. Think theirs a Tfp in Bristol too. Sending lots of 🤞 for the morning. X

Ahhh cool. Why did you change? Anddddd…. How are things in uturus land? 🤞🫣

wtawtaw · 21/07/2023 10:23

@GCS34 BFP at 4:15am this morning!! Absolutely in so much shock, happy tears, excitement, couldn't believe it!

We had an NHS round first and the satellite clinic said TFP Oxford was the clinic to choose (one of the girls used to work there!) so we were easily influenced. We were really torn between TFP and BCRM so them saying that made our decision easier. TFP staff were all lovely and I can't fault them but we decided next round we didn't want to use a satellite clinic (due to some miscommunication on the scans) and because Oxford was 2.5 hours away, we didn't think it was suitable. BCRM is a lot closer to us so we had all our scans and everything else in one place which made our experience so much nicer.

Good luck for you scan tomorrow, let us know how you get on 🤞🏻

@wtawtaw OMG!!! I'm SO happy for you - congratulations!!!!!!!! Wow I bet you can't believe it - i'm so happy it's worked! And now you have some juicy siblings in the freezer too. Really pleased for you! I genuinely clicked on the notification to the post with my fingers crossed haha.

Ahhh that makes sense. I'm not sure what the difference is between a satellite clinic to the main ones really. Less facilities etc? That makes 100% more sense tho based on your location and comms! I must say, our clinic aren't the best at communicating! Thanks for the luck and once again congrats!

wtawtaw · 21/07/2023 12:07

Awww thank you @GCS34, hopefully I'll be doing the same to you soon!!
A satellite clinic is just a very basic clinic (if you can call it that!) where I would go just for scans, drug demo etc and I would only attend the main clinic for egg collection and transfer. I don't think I would do that again that way!

Ah yeah that makes sense. Fortunately my clinic is a full one with a theatre / lab onsite that everything is done in, but yeah I wouldn't have gone here if it was a satellite like you say.

Really honestly thrilled for you! Good things happen to good people too!! 🤗Really hope you and your husband enjoy the love today! How is he feeling? Question for you on your IVF journey.... What is your cause to need IVF if you don't mind me asking? How many eggs did they collect to make it down to 1 x fresh, and 6 frozen? And did I remember rightly that you're 38? Sorry personal questions all round! And a million of them too haha x

wtawtaw · 21/07/2023 14:01

@GCS34 haha don't be silly, I find it really interesting to hear people's stories! Husband is super happy, he's the type of person that does not get emotional at ANYTHING, yet today I seen him cry (the only other time he did was when our first transfer failed). Other than that, I've not known him to get emotional in the 12 years we've been together. It just felt really special!

I had stage 3 endometriosis, I had surgery to have this excised 18 months ago but nothing changed conception wise. A lot of people conceive after having excision surgery but it didn't work for us. TTC for 3.5 years, I'm 36 now so decided to go down the IVF route as I didn't want to waste any more time.

They collected 17 eggs, 11 fertilised normally, 9 blasts, transferred one and another 6 got frozen. I guess the other two blasts weren't good enough to freeze. Super grateful for 6 in the freezer too considering we had nothing last time.

You happy to share your story? 😊

Oh my gosh that's lush that he shed a tear! Bet it's such a lovely bubble you're in today. I really hope you are smooth sailing. Do you have a 7 week scan in 3 weeks then? I bet it does feel special - because it is!! You enjoy this time and relish in it 😊Are you holding back from the family for now or are you going to tell people?

oh wow that's such shit news! Sorry to hear it. Where abouts was the endometrium growing? I know it can be tubal which obviously is a huge hinderance! Did you know you had endo before you TTC, or did you only find our during the investigations as to why you weren't conceiving?

That's a great selection!! It shows though that once the egg is out, theirs no issues - it's just getting it out and meeting the sperm! great selection to store too. you give me hope ❤

Yeah so I don't mind - We came off the pill after our wedding in Sept '21, and I didn't have a period. It got to 6 months and I went to the Drs and said something is up. Then they did all the bloods - all pretty normal. Had a internal ultrasound, and the woman scanning was like 'so your pcos is quite bad one side' I was like.... I have pcos?! I'd never been told and the pill had masked it for years! Honestly the way she told me I was frozen! So my PCOS causes me to have completely anovulatory cycles, but my partner is tip top his side, so they just need the two to meet, but with not ovulating, that has been nigh on impossible! One count for follicles brought back 69 on one side! Fast forward a year and a bunch of OI that over stimmed, understimed etc, and we're at IVF xx

wtawtaw · 21/07/2023 18:40

@GCS34 yep 7 week scan booked for 3 weeks time, I really hope we get there safely and it doesn't drag 😬 we've told my parents but that's it, it's only them that know about our journey.

Luckily it my endo wasn't growing in my tubes as I had a dye test and they were clear! But I had it in quite a lot of other places as well as mild adenomyosis but they weren't too concerned about that. I've had painful periods for years, been to the docs several times and they just put it down to heavy periods so was never investigated 🙄 it was 2 years in TTC I decided to get it investigated and went privately and that's when I found out.

Oh gosh sorry to hear about the PCOS! I've heard that the symptoms of that aren't nice at all, do you not have any? Have you been down the Clomid route? 69 follicles, that's a crazy amount!!!! Do you have to go on a low dose because of that? How many eggs are they aiming to get or have they not said? Guess you will know more tomorrow?!

Oh how exciting!! That 7 week one I think is such a milestone to get to and so special we infertiles have the privilege of an early preview (small price hey 😅) what have your parents said? Bet they’re thrilled.

did the fertility clinic mention anything about the adenomyosis when you had your scans there? Or were they the ones who said it wasn’t an issue? Well done for holding off 2 years before questioning it. I caved at 6 months. But I guess cuz of my lack of period, I knew something wasn’t right.

nah I have zero! That’s the thing that threw me. Usually pcos causes issues keeping weight down, insulin issues, excessive hair growth etc, but I am really slim, I have no issues with insulin and I have the opposite of lots of hair - fine, very fair hair! So I’m lucky in that respect, however the no periods / no ovulation is weird. I’ve still never had a natural one aside from those induced by OI. no they didn’t do clomid as they said I won’t respond as my hormones were all normal, and they just cut the brain out of it and did injections to give me the hormones instead of triggering my brain to make it. Yeah so they put me on 150iu of Menopur for the first round and one day I had 1 at 11mm, 2 days later I had 17 x all above 16mm 😂 so I’m on a low dose of Ovaleap now. I had to 1 good round on ovaleap, one poor, so I really don’t know what to expect from this! We’ll see. 😬🤞

wtawtaw · 23/07/2023 12:28

@GCS34 yes they are super excited! Had to tell my mum to calm down as it's so early though, love that she feels that way though.

How did you scan go yesterday??

@wtawtaw so pleased for you! I love she was super excited. I don’t know what my mum will do. Genuinely think she’ll breakdown 😂 how are you feeling? Sunk in yet?

worried about nothing 😂🙈 Lining is thickening up nicely - 5.9mm already which I haven’t had before (especially not only day 5 when we have another 7/8 days to go still). She said that’s bang on where it should be.

Follies she said by day5 they’re usually around 9/10mm. I have about 10 x at 9mm and over, and a bunch under (between 5-9mm). theirs 36 in total 🫣 she said we’re heading for a freeze all cuz chance of OHSS due to pcos, being slim, and the fact that these results are only day5, but I’m kinda prepared for that anyway. Back in tomoz for another scan. added in the anti ovulation injection last night - you find they bloody sting like hell?

wtawtaw · 23/07/2023 15:51

@GCS34 no I dont think it's sunk in yet, I keep thinking I have to my another preg test to make sure... or whether I'm still pregnant! The mind games it plays!

That's great news! At least you are responding well and the lining is where it should be 😃 are they going to keep you on the same dose or reduce?

Yeah when I was on Fyremadel last collection that stung!! But this time I was on Buserelin and that didn't sting, what one are you on?

@wtawtaw I bet!! I think I would be the same. I think when you’ve had the battles you’ve had, it’s natural to want to triple check / quadruple check! I think everyone in the infertility club feels like that. Have you told anyone aside from the parents? Or keeping it low until the 12 week scan?

yeah I’m quite pleased! Especially due to my anxiety with it and that my lining issues in the past. I don’t imagine you remember what you were at day 5. I think I’m not abnormal for worrying tho. They’re keeping me on the same dose. In again tomorrow so I’ll let you know.

yeah I’ve heard they can hurt a bit! What’s the difference in them all - do you know? Or is it depending on what stims you’re on? I’m on Ovamex. Remind me how many eggs they got, and you have 6 embabies right? X

wtawtaw · 26/07/2023 21:14

@GCS34 so sorry for the late reply!!! No, we've not told a soul apart from them, we only told them our struggles after the first round of ivf. I got 17 eggs, 6 embryos are in the freezer.

How are you progressing?? All well I hope 😁
