Hello, I'm starting a June thread for IVFers - I couldn't see one on the board. Please join!

I'm 39 and this will be our second round. The first round in November resulted in 2 blastocysts from 10 eggs. First transfer failed, got pregnant from the second transfer but miscarried at 9.5 weeks at the beginning of April.

Now raring to go again!

Thank you @Chickencrazy3356 I've recovered very well I have to say. I wouldn't run a marathon today, but I'm very well considering. The dulcolax worked and I feel sooooooo much better. Not taken any paracetamol today and no pain :)
I just had my update call and all 17 were mature to treat them with ICSI. And this morning 13 have been fertilised :) last time we had 14 eggs, 12 mature, and 11 fertilised. So fertilisation rate is slightly worse, but we have two more. it all depends on the Thursday update now. hopefully the supplements will have made a difference to my egg quality and and we get more embryos. last time we had only 5 out of 11 left by day 3. and by day 5 it was only 2. So this could still happen.. in any case, if we get two again I'm happy :)
How exciting you're next tomorrow @Chickencrazy3356 !! I'm so glad you got 4 follicles now! Maybe another one will catch up by tomorrow :) Sad news about the left ovary and that you might lose it. Great job that the right one is playing ball though! Hope it'll all go very well for you tomorrow!

Hi everyone, first time posting on mumsnet for me but wanted to join the thread as having egg collection tomorrow morning and nervous. I've been told I've got 13 good looking follicles but I've got some free fluid on one of my ovaries which is a sign of ohss. I'm worried this could delay implantation if we are lucky enough to get to embryo transfer stage. Interested to hear if anyone is having or have had this? I'm very anxious for this to work as had 3 miscarriages last year, a v healthy son born before that and a miscarriage before he was born. All losses happened early and not much reason as to why apart from I could have an increased risk of blood clotting (following some tests we paid for). Hoping for another rainbow baby and wishing everyone so much luck. This is our first time trying ivf x

Hi @NicHopingForARainbow wow egg collection tomorrow! Don’t be nervous! I’m sure it’ll all be fine :) 13 is a great number! I guess worst case you’ll just have to freeze all and transfer later but if that’s the case it’ll be for the greater good so try not to worry. I’m sure they’ll know more about the fluid and ohss after the ec tomorrow too. I’ve not had ohss or at least I hope not. I’m super bloated today after ec yesterday but I think with ohss you also feel or are sick and have trouble breathing? At least that’s what I read. Best of luck for tomorrow 🍀 x

NicHopingForARainbow · 13/06/2023 20:06

Thanks so much @Honeybunie . I also hope you have positive news Thursday with your embryos, your numbers are great.
Will be thinking of you also tomorrow @Chickencrazy3356 with your egg collection x

Honeybunie · 13/06/2023 21:15

Thank you @NicHopingForARainbow :)
good luck to you too tomorrow @Chickencrazy3356

Guys I need some reassurance. After my great baseline scan with 19 follicles just had my day 5 scan and I have 11 (9 too small) with 2 large follicles and the rest still quite small. Can it be normal for the others to catch up? I'm also worried about having a dominant follicle and the others stopping growing! Trying not to be upset x

b0zza1 · 14/06/2023 22:42

Hi @MAbbott34 I'm afraid I don't have direct experience of this, but didn't want to leave your post going unanswered... Do you know how far different the 2 large ones were? I can't remember how mine were on my one ec cycle so far... I remember having the same worry. What stims are you taking and are you taking cetrotide yet? I think that helps with stopping the larger ones from running away!!! Loving my medical terminology 😂 when is your next scan?

b0zza1 · 14/06/2023 22:45

Also @MAbbott34 did they explain what they meant when they said 'too small'? Just wondering whether they were smaller that what they would expect at day 5...

IslaO · 15/06/2023 07:23

Hi @MAbbott34 i am so sorry to hear this- it’s super frustrating. The positive is that you have a good number of follicles overall but obviously the growth is inconsistent. I’m on my first round of IVF due to male factor issues and the doctor started me on 187.5ui of pergoveris (follicle stimulating drug)as he thought I was at risk of developing OHSS but turns out this wasn’t enough. I only had 12 follicles (in previous, natural ultrasounds I’ve had 24) and just 2 of these 12 were of good size. The doctor recommended I cancel which I did on Monday (day 10 of stims) and I’m starting again with 300ui of the same stim drug to try get more consistent growth.

hope you get better news in your next scan as growth can be quick but if it’s not, it might just be an adjustment of your meds.

Chickencrazy3356 · 15/06/2023 08:25

@NicHopingForARainbow Hope yesterday went well for you and your feeling ok

@Honeybunie thank you so much it went very well we got 8 eggs which was a complete surprise and my dr said with my low AMH she was over the moon ! Just waiting for the embryologist to phone this morning with an update !

Please don’t worry, I had my scan Monday and I only had 4 follicles with 2 being dominant, just had my collection yesterday and got 8 eggs which is double what my scan was showing 48 hours before

Honeybunie · 15/06/2023 08:45

@MAbbott34 yes do not worry! My clinic only does day 9/10 scans so I don’t k je what I would’ve had on day 5 but it sounds about right for middle of stims phase. It’s probs unnerving to do these in between scans. I’m sure they’ll start growing a lot more towards the end. And just like @Chickencrazy3356 result shows which is absolutely amazing! So happy for you. Well done 😊 praying for positive news for you this morning! I’m waiting for my day 3 update this morning 🙈 bit nervous
Sorry to hear you had to abandon @IslaO hope you’re okay. Must be annoying but all for the great good. I had 300 and it worked a treat for me x

Honeybunie · 15/06/2023 08:58

How did it go for you yesterday @NicHopingForARainbow ?
And how are you both feeling after today? Hope well? @Chickencrazy3356

NicHopingForARainbow · 15/06/2023 09:27

Hi @MAbbott34 it's so easier said than done but do try not to worry and just think about what you can control like drinking lots of water and having a high protein diet which is the advice I keep getting from the clinic

NicHopingForARainbow · 15/06/2023 09:35

@Chickencrazy3356 @Honeybunie egg collection went really well thanks although I was an emotional wreck just before 😞Really positive news had this morning - out of 16 eggs collected, 15 were mature and 10 have fertilised so my egg transfer is booked for Monday afternoon 😀 Dr said he wasn't too concerned about the free fluid on my ovary as I didn't have a huge number of eggs (which normally happens with ohss) so keeping positive 🤞 Wishing good luck to everyone x

Honeybunie · 15/06/2023 11:09

aawww that's fantastic news @NicHopingForARainbow so please for you 😊10 fertilised is amazing. and so glad ohss is out of the question now and you're even booked in already! I haven't got a time for saturday yet. still waiting for my update. I guess they'd tell me today... i wonder what's taking them so long lol.

NicHopingForARainbow · 15/06/2023 11:44

@Honeybunie I guess each clinic has their own way but maybe give them a call I'm sure they won't mind. I'm really hoping that is it for the ohss but prob still a risk so going to just keep hoping 🙏 all we can do! Good luck for your update and transfer Saturday x

PB86 · 15/06/2023 12:22

Fellow June IVF-er here. Bit of background: I’m 36. Normal ovarian reserve for my age. No endo or PCOS. Non smoker don’t really drink. Lead a healthy lifestyle, loads of fruit and veg, regular exercise. Partner (M) is very fit and active. Also non smoker, does like a drink but has cut down massively. TTC for 2.5 years with no joy. Unexplained infertility. Currently going through IVF. First round. On day of egg collection I had 18 follicles, 10 good seized ones so 10 eggs expected. Retrieved 6 eggs, 5 fertilised (ICSI) 3 got to day 5 - 1 grade 2/3 equivalent to 5BC and 2 grade 3/3 (un-freezable) Had my best and only embryo implanted yesterday 14/06. The next 2 weeks are going to be the longest 2 weeks of my life. Wish me luck!

Honeybunie · 15/06/2023 12:23

@NicHopingForARainbow i just had my update and it's looking good. 10 are still in the race (out of 13), which is amazing. last time we had 5 out of 11 on day 3. I asked how they're graded and she said 3 good and 7 average and she said all develop nicely as they should by today at the 6-8 cell stage. so transfer is booked for 9.30 on saturday. last time we had 2 good and 3 average, and then on day 5 1 good and 1 average left. So let's see what saturday brings now. be great to have more than one to freeze :)
how are you feeling after the ec then? any pain, bloating, swelling? mine has almost completly gone today which I'm so happy about. last time it took me unitl day 5 to feel good again x

NicHopingForARainbow · 15/06/2023 13:38

Great news @Honeybunie will be thinking of you Saturday morning.
I feel good today thanks, not needed any pain relief today , just feel a bit bloated. I felt quite sick off the pain relief given during for the egg collection yesterday. I think transfer is a bit less invasive isn't it?

PLy657 · 15/06/2023 14:43

Hi,

I hope you don’t mind coming in here- I’ve been following the thread but just plucked up the courage to post something!

Currently going though our first IVF round- I’m 30, DH also 30. TTC #1 for 2.5 years with no pregnancies (unexplained- although I realise this means they just haven’t found the problem!)

EC on Monday- 16 eggs (14 mature)
13 fertilised but they said 4 abnormally leaving us with 9 embryos

Day 3 update today- 8 good quality embryos remaining (they said a couple are racing ahead and sometimes run out of steam so not sure what to expect for day 5)

just wanting to chat to people going through the same thing and wish everyone so much luck on this journey

LucyFab · 15/06/2023 15:04

Hi all,

quick update from me: unfortunately none of my eggs fertilised due to low quality of my eggs. They proposed egg donation and don’t know what to do now. I’m devastated. Anyone went through this?

Honeybunie · 15/06/2023 15:53

@NicHopingForARainbow thats great! Glad you’re okay :) I still get bloated but it doesn’t hurt anymore. But it’s funny when my bladder gets full it gets a bit uncomfortable like it’s pressing on something thing that was affected. Then I’m good again after a wee 😅 guess there is limited room in there esp when bloated and needing a wee 😅 strange that you felt sick from the pain relief. Yeah transfer is easy peasy compared to EC. Just a very thin catheter inserted into the uterus. I think the worst I had was slight period like cramps when they put it in but that’s about to. In out job done and off you go 😅

Honeybunie · 15/06/2023 16:00

@LucyFab oh I’m so so sorry to hear. That is devastating. So sorry. I’ve not been in this situation and it must be so hard being confronted with the news and having to consider a donation. I have thought about this before and I know that it would not be for me. I’d only want a kid if it’s from my own seed and will be a mini version of myself. But everyone is different. If you’d like a kid under all circumstances then maybe it’s something to consider for yourself. Digest the news and think it through. You don’t have to make a decision today. Look after yourself and treat yourself to something nice. Sending big hugs xx

b0zza1 · 15/06/2023 16:14

Welcome @PB86 GOOD LUCK Quite a first round!!!!!!!!!! I feel nervous for you! I have't had a transfer yet, but must be a funny feeling all the tablets and injections and scans and preparation and then into the 2 week void! Are you on many meds at the mo?

Welcome also @PLy657 if you have a good embryo or more at day 5 will you go ahead to transfer? I've done one ec and am onto my second back to back cycle of ec (just at the tablet stage currently and due to start stims in about 10-12 days, if i ever get hold of my meds 😂)

Hi @LucyFab so sorry to hear your news. I haven't been in this situation myself, but my heart goes out to you. It just doesn't seem fair.
