Hello, I'm starting a June thread for IVFers - I couldn't see one on the board. Please join!

I'm 39 and this will be our second round. The first round in November resulted in 2 blastocysts from 10 eggs. First transfer failed, got pregnant from the second transfer but miscarried at 9.5 weeks at the beginning of April.

Now raring to go again!

@Keepingeverythingxxx so sorry to hear about your last birthday, it's just devastating to try be happy when deep down you aren't. I hope you have a wonderful "40th" birthday in August and that all goes well with treatment.

@countrypunk good luck for your scan, all very exciting!

@Gryffindoratheart congratulations! Must have been so hard getting the BFN but glad you did the CB. When is your OTD? Also which test did you use first that you got the BFN on?

Gryffindoratheart · 18/07/2023 11:48

Thankyou @countrypunk @ttcsolomumtobe I'm in shock 😂

I used a CB digi yesterday too, which was negative.

So my clinic just wanted me to do the beta test at 9dp5dt so I suppose that was my OTD?

countrypunk · 18/07/2023 11:52

@Gryffindoratheart Ah my clinic actually told me not to use a digital test, because they're not very reliable.

I bet you are, that must have been a wonderful shock!

OP posts:
Gryffindoratheart · 18/07/2023 11:53

Oh really? Why do they say they aren't reliable?

countrypunk · 18/07/2023 12:02

@Gryffindoratheart I don't actually know - I imagine it's because they can give false negatives, like you had yesterday. It just says in the instructions after transfer not to use a digital test 🤷🏻‍♀️

OP posts:
Gryffindoratheart · 18/07/2023 12:06

Ah okay that's interesting! I just wanted to see the actual word 😆

countrypunk · 18/07/2023 12:08

@Gryffindoratheart Oh definitely! I did the same after my last positive, for the same reason!

OP posts:
ttcsolomumtobe · 18/07/2023 12:18

@Gryffindoratheart I think the levels have to be much higher for a Clearblue digital so that's why clinics advised against them. My clinic include a test with my meds but it's just one of basic CB blue line tests. I did get some FRER ones and will likely buy a digital just to see the words 🤞🏻

IVFGotThis05 · 18/07/2023 12:41

Congratulations on the positive tests!!!

It's always so lovely to read a success 🙂

If you don't mind me asking.. Did you have any symptoms during your 2ww?

Gryffindoratheart · 18/07/2023 13:19

@IVFGotThis05 I have just had lots of cramping, nothing else but that could have been from the progesterone pessaries I've been using

countrypunk · 18/07/2023 14:14

@IVFGotThis05 A bit of cramping, heaviness like my period was imminent, and very very tired.

But as Gryffindor says, that could all be from the progesterone. I had similar on an unsuccessful transfer.

OP posts:
ttcsolomumtobe · 18/07/2023 14:33

@countrypunk &@Gryffindoratheart if you don't mind me asking how did you deal with the pessaries? Mine I need to take 3 times a day, morning and night will be fine but mid day could be difficult due to work.

Did you have to lay down afterwards for a certain amount of time and if so how long?

I was reading 30mins is advised but I only get a 30min lunch break (luckily work from home). Was considering asking my employer to extend my lunch my 15mins using built up time or Annual leave if the full 30mins were really needed.

Also do they have to be perfectly timed apart from just 3 days a day and as evenly as you can during waking hours?

Sorry I'm still full of prepare questions as I ended up delaying from June to July due to a very early period and a break away I had booked but anytime now I will be starting ek!

Gryffindoratheart · 18/07/2023 14:39

I only have to do mine twice a day, so aim for 12 hours apart, and was told to lie down for 30 minutes afterwards

countrypunk · 18/07/2023 14:50

@ttcsolomumtobe I do them 3 times a day. I don't worry about them being perfectly spaced out and I don't lie down for 30 mins afterwards. The morning one I do while I'm still in bed so probably lie down for 15 mins after I've put it in. The evening one I do just before bed. But the afternoon one I'm working so I just sit down. I'm not sure how important the lying down is... no one at my clinic has ever told me to do this! Also if you put them up your bum I don't think you need to worry about lying down - nothing escapes!

I do mine at about 7/7:30am, then 3pm, then 11ish. But the timings are never perfect.

IVFGotThis05 · 18/07/2023 14:57

@countrypunk & @Gryffindoratheart I know what yous mean, I'm due to test Friday and everything I'm feeling I'm just putting down to the progesterone because mine too has just been a little cramping here and there but I think it's been like this for my last 4 transfers too 😅

FiddleLeaf · 18/07/2023 17:50

Wow @Gryffindoratheart, congratulations! It’s such a thrill to see it digitally isn’t it?

@IVFGotThis05 - I’ve had a lot of symptoms but again, could be progesterone! First week was pretty intense for cramps, very sore boobs, I have psoriasis normally and that seemed to nearly vanish overnight. Oh and heartburn 4 days after transfer. Into the second week, I hiccup all the time and I’m a bit breathless. Boobs and cramping aren’t as bad though. I’m also waking up super early & having vivid dreams.

@ttcsolomumtobe I use the erm back door. I’m totally used to it after two weeks. Pop it in during a usual loo break and then go on with my day. None have come out & there’s zero mess. First few times are a bit eye opening though!

countrypunk · 18/07/2023 18:47

@IVFGotThis05 Masses of luck for Friday! I think days 7 to 9 are the worst 😖

Summer223 · 18/07/2023 18:54

Hi ladies. huge congrats to all with a positive test. A positive and happy milestone along the way, keep going 💪

Am still hanging on for OTD and it’s killing me slowly. Just can’t bear the stress of a false positive or negative after previous rounds and so trying to take the news in one go. Thursday feels a v long way away mind you, wishing time would go faster!

anyone else finding they are suddenly starting to wake up at crack of dawn?! No idea if that’s the meds or stress but has been happening last couple weeks of days…

another vote for pesseries the back way as it were! Recommended by my surgeon for less faff and have never had to lie down!

countrypunk · 18/07/2023 19:37

@Summer223 Stay strong! Just one more day! I know it's so hard not testing when you really really really want to. The last 2 times I tested early - this time I managed not to and I definitely felt better for it.

Yes, I've been waking up really early and in the night. It's annoying.

OP posts:
ttcsolomumtobe · 18/07/2023 19:38

@FiddleLeaf & @Summer223 thank you, I was thinking this could just be an easier option tbf but yeah sure it's an odd one to start with ha

Keepingeverythingxxx · 18/07/2023 21:28

Congratulations @Gryffindoratheart on your positive test…so pleased for you 😊

@IVFGotThis05, similar to some of the other ladies, I struggled with sleeping (still
do) and was constantly up for the loo. I also experienced some cramping which felt more like stretching. The only other thing that made me think it may have worked was feeling nauseous. It hit me like a tonne of bricks around 9dpt and has only intensified.

Lisleekez16 · 18/07/2023 21:34

Hi I'm 43 and had 1st round of IVF. We got 7 eggs but 1 blastocyst. We are in the middle of our 2 week wait which has been the worst. Started bleeding sat a brown colour, messaged the clinic and they said it was old blood? It started Saturday and had none today (Tuesday) I really don't know what to think it's hard not to think the worst and trying to stay positive. We test this Friday, praying for a positive

IVFGotThis05 · 19/07/2023 09:57

@countrypunk Thank you very much! I've ordered my tests to come today so gotta use all my might to not test tomorrow morning!

I missed who it was but the poster that said she showed negative day 9 but positive day 10 😮😮😮 It's going to make me test all weekend if I'm negative day 9 😅

@Keepingeverythingxxx Ahh that's quite a few symptoms isn't it! The nausea sounds awful ! Hope your doing alright!

@Lisleekez16 I test friday too! Keeping everything crossed for some positive lines for us!

ttcsolomumtobe · 19/07/2023 15:34

@IVFGotThis05 & @Lisleekez16 good luck for your testing on Friday and hope you manage to hold out till then. The 2WW defo seems to grip people

Keepingeverythingxxx · 20/07/2023 13:44

Hi everyone…I had my 6wk scan this morning and it couldn’t have gone any better. Everything measured well and we heard a very strong heartbeat! 🥰

We weren’t sure how many they may find as my bloods were so high but they confirmed today that it is just the one. I think I had convinced myself that it was going to be twins so was a little shocked. All I hoped for was that everything would be as it should be and it was, so breathing a slight sigh of relief for now….just another 2 weeks to wait for my final scan xx 💙🩷
