Hello, I'm starting a June thread for IVFers - I couldn't see one on the board. Please join!

I'm 39 and this will be our second round. The first round in November resulted in 2 blastocysts from 10 eggs. First transfer failed, got pregnant from the second transfer but miscarried at 9.5 weeks at the beginning of April.

Now raring to go again!

Hi guys, hope it's ok to join. I'm 9dp5dt today limbing the walls 🙈I haven't tested today but only because my oh wants to stick to the rules and OTD is tomorrow 🤣We had a 5AA transferred, fresh cycle, I'm 39 (MFI). Since the trigger, I've had huge sore boobs and restless legs but both of those stopped a couple of days ago. Really not feeling hopeful, just thought I'd stop by and offload 🤣Hope everyone else is feeling a lot better than I am x

@b0zza1 , I wish I was chilled enough to give some tips for the tww. I’ve done this a number of times now and never managed to hold out.

I’m a bit obsessed with the BFN IVF podcast (if you end up looking it up start from the beginning!) and I think both of the hosts managed it without thinking twice about it. And @RoseGold24 sounds like you’re going to make it to the end too!

@RoseGold24 it sounds like we’re on exactly the same dates! I’m 9DP5DT too. My OTD is Monday though.

Thanks for the welcome @Qwertyas Have you had any symptoms? Have you caved to take a cheeky test yet? My blood test is on Monday.

@ttcsolomumtobe I had a day 5 transfer and was advised to test 13 days later.

UPDATE: I’m currently 9 days post fresh embryo transfer (day 5 embryo) and today I have noticed some light bleeding which is a pinky colour. Since it started I am having some discomfort in my tummy and a headache but I don’t know if it’s more to do with being worried about what it means?!

@PB86 have you rung your clinic to let them know? It could be implantation bleeding 🙏 try to just take it easy and rest up and not worry x

Hi to all 💁‍♀️ I'm not the best at keeping up with the posts but always hoping everyone is OK and we are all blessed with babies at the end of this journey! I'm 4 days post transfer and not feeling many symptoms apart from the odd cramp and slightly tender boobs. I'm on lots of meds as have had recurrent miscarriage (not through ivf) so just hoping this will be it. Im going to try really hard not to test until test day which for me is 2nd July. So hoping this next week flies as every time I think about testing I feel nervous 😓

@RoseGold24 i have done soooo many cheeky tests; but didn’t want to lead with that because for all those doing the right thing I’m rooting for you!!

And also because, while I am testing BFP, the lines are faint and aren’t getting darker. We had a miscarriage our last round at 8w because the embryo stopped developing at 6w; so I’m a bit nervous about this one, as we just had the one slow developing blast to transfer this round. Time will tell…

Very excited for you though @RoseGold24 sounds like yours was a great quality, so have fingers crossed for you! My bloods is Monday too. Symptom wise, a few queasy moments recently (which I didn’t have last time) and few dull pains. No sore boobs but it is a good one to have though; I had this my last pregnancy! How are you feeling now being close to testing?

@PB86 I’m sorry you’re going through it. I’ve never had implantation bleeding but they do say it sounds like that! Light pink. Hoping it’s just that for you. When I was pregnant last, just before we got the result, I had period like pains, so the cramps could also be that. It’s nerve wracking. Hang in there.

@NicHopingForARainbow yes I’ve called them. They said it doesn’t sound like “active bleeding” and to let them know if it becomes heavier than a bad period. It’s not heavy but it’s getting heavier and brighter in colour.

@MAbbott34 ive just had pgta testing. Unfortunately i only got 2 to test but unbelievably got 1 come back 'normal' and the other is being re-tested as came back 'inconclusive'. For me PGTa was a no-brainer because ive had 3 miscarriages from natural pregnancies so this is the reason im doing ivf really to try get a normal one. My last miscarriage was sent off for testing and came back abnormal chromosomes so really i need to know im putting a normal one in there. Doesnt mean it will definitely work but if i do get pregnant i at least know for peace of mind its normal this time. I do wish i had more in the bank though as theres a lot of pressure on this one. My test results came back within a week but obviously i couldn't do a fresh transfer so im now waiting to do my FET.

Day 3 update we have 5 good quality embryos and 3 poor ones. Wasn't expecting a big drop off as I know day 3 to 5 is huge. The embryologist persuaded me not to go Genetic testing as I'm low risk apart from my age (39 nearly 40). She also wanted to freeze my best embryo at day 3 but I suggested leaving all to go to day 5. Who knows if my decisions were right 😬

@MAbbott34 I cracked and took a test today which was negative. My official test date is Tuesday but I think it would show up today if I were pregnant so I’m pretty confident that means it hasn’t worked.

@MAbbott34 I started with 5 and ended up with 1 and apparently that’s quite realistic. They say to expect 1/3 to get to day 5. Next time I would like to do genetic testing but it costs a fortune so I don’t know if we will be do-able. Didn’t do it this time as they don’t offer it on the NHS and weren’t allowed any add ons. I think the decision to let them get to day 5 is the right one as they say if they can’t get to day 5 they probably aren’t capable of becoming a viable pregnancy and won’t lead to a live birth.

Really sorry to hear this news @PB86 I hope you’re doing ok and treating yourself to something nice this weekend xxx Do you reckon you’re going to take some time out for a breather, or are you thinking about next steps already?

@MAbbott34 That‘a some great day 3 numbers to have for developing into blasts! 🤞🤞. Personally we were working with tiny embryo numbers and we still really wanted to push to day 5; so would have done the same thing as you for what it’s worth.

@Flowerlover010 big congrats for that result! Hope you’re really happy 😊 Will you plan to transfer your next cycle or leave it a little bit?

@Qwertyas im.hoping to transfer next cycle but you know how it is! Doesnt always go as expected. I have to have a follow up consultation to discuss next steps, any tests and drugs and they couldnt get me in for 3 weeks! So i kicked up and got a cancellation which is now about a week before my period is due. So ive stressed to them i want to transfer on my next cycle just hope they pull their finger out.

@Flowerlover010 Good for you and I hope they do pull their finger out; the waiting is tough unless you’ve chosen to.

I’ve found this whole process has been such a slog of having to advocate for yourself the whole time and you’re already knackered by the IVF itself, let alone the admin side! I couldn’t knock the nurses at all but I do think the business / process side could be significantly easier on patients a lot of the time. But I won’t get going!

@Qwertyas thank you. Just gonna have a nice chilled one. Go out for something to eat tonight and watch a film. I find thinking about next steps helpful as it gives me something to look forward to. We have a few things coming up between us over the next few months - stag do, family holiday and 2 weddings so it’s knowing when is the best time to start again.

I would be interested to hear people’s opinions on alcohol throughout the IVF process. I personally feel it should be cut out but opinions vary a lot.
