IVF/ICSI/FET May 2023

Hi, I don't think there's a thread for May, not that I could find anyway.

I've just started Norethisterone to bring on AF ready for my FET. I had my ICSI cycle in Feb but was high risk for OHSS, so after retrieving 24 eggs, this clinic decided to freeze all.
Luckily, because I ended up very unwell with OHSS for around 6 weeks and ended up in hospital for a little while!

But I've recovered and soooo ready for my embabies! We're aiming for transfer week commencing 22nd May unless AF comes earlier than planned then it might be the week before. It's likely as I'm on CD46 with all the signs of imminent AF 🤞🏼

If anyone else is cycling in May please feel free to share the journey ✨

@Sj2505 thanks! I was worried about going too far to the side as I don't have as much fat and was worrying it would hurt more! I'll give it a try tonight.

In other news had a scan today and have 3 follicles growing on the right and 4 on the left. A couple of tiny ones on each side as well but not expecting then to do much. I'm 41 so for my age it's better than I expected anyway. As long as they keep on track!

@Sunflower360 during the short protocol for me, all my follicles grew at different rates also. This cycle seemed, so far, to work best for me. Down regulated, Gonal F 300 for 11 days. My 6 follicles grew at same rate and got to 19mm. Double trigger which got me more mature eggs (4 mature eggs).
Create do back to back stimulation to bank more eggs -they had packages when I last looked.

@LittleWeed82 I do clexane. It's a bruisey bastard! My tips...go super slow with it. Really slow injecting, really slow releasing the liquid then pull it out slowly. Then don't rub it or move for at least 10 mins. If it's really hurting icing before and after can help.

Does anyone know with a fresh transfer is embryo transfer normally 5 days after egg collection and does that include the actual day of egg collection? Just trying work out when the transfer is likely to be. 😬

@FlapJackered day 1 is the day after EC ☺️

Thanks @FlapJackered Also in relation to transfer I understand it can happen anyday from day 2-5 depending on how the embryo looks...but I've not had one as it's my first cycle, that is just from what I have been advised!

Good morning everyone :) today day 3 of stims! I have a slight headache, but it’s definitely worth the pain ♥️ Currently waiting for my check up scan next Tuesday . Sending lots of luck and love to you all

@Marisadea good to hear stims are going, bar the headache.

Update from me following EC this morning. They were anticipating collecting one egg, but they ended up getting 4 eggs (with my low AMH/AFC I was happy with that)!Apparently, one of my ovaries sits quite high, so I think they may have missed it from the scans due to that. Will just see what the next step brings as we need to see if they are mature (if any) and if any fertilise. Either way, it's our 1st cycle, so all learning and data gathering 🙂

Thanks @LF82 I'm not expecting much, was just a nice surprise to have 4 collected when I was expecting 1...I even got offered to cancel the cycle after the last scan if I didn't want to proceed with 1 egg for collection; so glad I didn't now as it'll be a good data gathering exercise if anything

I had another scan today and the left ovary is lagging apparently so they are delaying egg collection until next week and upping my dose. Hopefully that will do the trick but right side is already a bit uncomfortable so hoping they don't get too big on that side. 😵‍💫

@Marisadea i have a bit of a headache as well. Only done three injections though so no idea if it’s released or just general tension 😳

i have noticed real difficulty with concentrating at work today, which is not usually something I struggle with. I have a really busy job, which is normally a good distraction, but today I kept starting something and then wandering off to do something else and then remembering and coming back to it, over and over. It’s not listed as a side effect of the meds but I have been wondering!

@FlapJackered hopefully that'll work for you! I had mine delayed too, but they didn't up my meds, I just needed the extra few days.
Will they scan you again?

@Sunflower360 that's excellent news! I'm so happy for you. Fingers crossed for your update tomorrow too. I had the same with my left ovary, they couldn't see it on the last couple of scans because it was so high so they'd warned me that they didn't know if they'd be able to collect from it, but they did in the end. Hope you're feeling ok after EC!

@Marisadea glad stims are going well! Keep hydrated and take paracetamol, hopefully might ease the headaches.

@kingster1 @Sunflower360 fingers crossed for some embabies 🤞 I always find the embryo updates the hardest part.

I had my baseline scan done today and had AFC of 12. Lining looked good too so first injections done this evening.

Would u believe that this time last year I had afc of 4-5 and this month I'd 12😳 I think all the previous cycles must be waking up my ovaries

Thanks everyone. Feeling ok, although ever so slightly tender, maybe because they had to get to my ovary on the left, which was the high one. @Sj2505 hope your scan goes well tomorrow and @kingster1 hope you get a positive update tomorrow 🙂🙂

@Sj2505 yes the injection has been better! I went further to the side and it didn't sting as much at all so that was good! It's still not a pleasant one. The needle kind of feels bigger but that's probably just me. I've started cetrotide now at 5am which itches a lot for half an hour after. I'm going to be one big itchy bruise after all this!
