Waiting for PGT-A results

Hi
I am completely new here. I’ve just gone through my first round of IVF and I have to say, my partner and I were blindsided with how much it actually affects and impacts your life! Egg collection was 9 days ago and I’m pretty much feeling back to normal now.
I’m 42, 22 mature eggs were collected, 11 survived to day 3 and 6 survived to day 5/6 blastocyst stage. These have been frozen and samples have been sent for PGT-A testing. So now we have a TWW and not for a pregnancy test, to tell us if they are chromosomal normal. Just wondering if anyone else is in the same situation?
fertility wise, the issue is a thin lining due to a copper coil. Very annoying 😔

@Thinkinhappythoughts I hope you get your results this coming week. The waiting is horrible. That's great that your ovarian reserve is so good 😊 mine was 30.2 when it was checked a few months ago.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you for some nice euploids!

Thinkinhappythoughts · 31/03/2023 08:10

Hey
All came back abnormal. Absolutely devastated and have found it impossible not to be upset. We start cycle 2 in a few weeks.
When is your transfer date?

girljulian · 31/03/2023 11:38

Oh @Thinkinhappythoughts I'm so sorry to hear that.

Shamoo · 31/03/2023 12:01

@Thinkinhappythoughts really sorry to hear that. I just wanted to share that I had three rounds with testing. The first I got one genetically ok embryo, the second I got none, and the third I got 5 (out of 7 tested). So it really can vary a lot between cycles. Wishing you all the best for your next round. X

Thinkinhappythoughts · 31/03/2023 13:43

Hi
Thank you for sharing. That's good to know as I feel really deflated.
Did you do the PGT-A testing? Clinic have advised as I'm 42..
Have you been successful with a transfer?

OP posts:
Shamoo · 31/03/2023 18:08

@Thinkinhappythoughts yes, that was the results after the testing. I haven’t had one of them transferred yet, they are all still on ice. They think with me that the issue is actually my uterus given my results, so need to decide what to do next. Wishing you all the best. X

browneyedgirl626 · 01/04/2023 15:00

@Thinkinhappythoughts Ah I'm sorry to hear this, it's utterly shit. Like @Shamoo says I think every egg collection is complete pot luck, when you think about ttc naturally every month there's a good chance that any embryos made may be chromasonally abnormal because human beings are actually pretty crap at making normal embryos a fair amount of the time and miscarriage statistics reflect this. Having said this, it doesn't make it hurt any less. Your odds are still good with getting a genetically normal embryo to work with out of 3 cycles x

Thinkinhappythoughts · 02/04/2023 09:25

@Shamoo
Can I ask if you are in the 40 year old bracket as well? Do you know what is wrong with your uterus? My consultant did a 3D SIS scan before I started treatment to check if there was any issues.. might be worth doing that?
I'm excited for you that you have that many that are ready for a transfer!

Thinkinhappythoughts · 02/04/2023 09:30

@browneyedgirl626 thank you, I really appreciate your reply. I don't think I will be able to take the phone call from the embryologist on this round, OH will have to! We've got an app with the consultant tomorrow which I know I will cry through because he will be all sorry and sympathetic talking about it!
It feels like such a roulette table, you have no control over what quality eggs your body sends through each month.

Thinkinhappythoughts · 02/04/2023 09:30

@browneyedgirl626 when is your transfer date?

OP posts:
browneyedgirl626 · 02/04/2023 12:07

@Thinkinhappythoughts yes it does feel like roulette. The only thing I made sure I did was take 600mcg (I think) of ubiquinol for egg quality. No idea if this actually works but I came across it on multiple forums. I also tend to stick to a high protein high fat low carb diet, again I read this was good when doing an egg collection. Again, no bloody idea if any of it works. But it helped me to feel like I was doing what I could.

I hope your appointment goes ok tomorrow, perhaps when you have a plan in place you'll feel a bit better x

I had my transfer yesterday, I've been a bag of nerves all this week and just been so irritable and moody because of the progesterone pessaries. I was so worried that the embryo wouldn't thaw or something would go wrong blah blah, but it all went well and if anything I'm relieved at that

Shamoo · 02/04/2023 12:20

@Thinkinhappythoughts - Thank you! My last collection and testing was done when I was 41. My uterus is a strange shape at the top, we always knew it may be an issue, so hopefully we will get there!

Thinkinhappythoughts · 02/04/2023 16:58

@browneyedgirl626
Ahh thanks. Just had a read of that supplement. Not heard that before but definitely will get some of that.

@browneyedgirl626 I can't remember if you have said age is a factor for you??
Oh goodness, it's going to be a long 2 week wait but sending lots of positive thoughts your way. I really hope it works out for you.

My consultant is a fairly senior researcher at the University of Oxford in the field of IVF and female reproduction. He told me to take this; he says I will not yet find any scientific papers proving that it works, but he knows from observation that it does and is working on publishing a study which proves it. So do try it!

Thinkinhappythoughts · 02/04/2023 17:15

@girljulian
Thanks!
Just ordered it. it says you start producing eggs 3 months prior but I will still start it as my next egg collection will be end of the month. So will have a months worth in my system!

OP posts:
browneyedgirl626 · 02/04/2023 17:53

@Thinkinhappythoughts yes that ubiquinol is what I use. I've been told I can take a test in 9/10 days, Easter Monday 🥴

Thinkinhappythoughts · 04/04/2023 07:50

@browneyedgirl626
Oh how exciting.. less than a week to go until you can test. Keep me posted.
Consultant app yesterday was pretty pointless. Nothing we didn't already know. No viable eggs. He is very sorry but it's quite common as I'm 42 but egg reserves are great so we stand a chance etc etc but the average statistic of this age range is 7%!!! Talk about odds against us!
So onto round 2! I did ask why they recommended 3 cycles- what's the magic of 3 as each cycle is obviously pot luck of what eggs you will get. I think it's just statistically balanced as time/cost and chance maybe?? Oh well!

Just checking in to see if you have tested yet? Sending lots of positive thoughts and luck your way x

browneyedgirl626 · 12/04/2023 11:33

@Thinkinhappythoughts hey, sorry I've been trying to limit my time on the forums as I can get a bit sucked in!

I tested positive and had a beta result of 741 yesterday, am going back for another one tomorrow. I have had a bit of spotting which was worrying but it seems to have stopped now. I'm happy but very very cautious, I just think that I won't know if it's a viable pregnancy until a scan.

I hope you're ok? Are you gearing up for another cycle? Xx

Thinkinhappythoughts · 20/04/2023 07:55

@browneyedgirl626
How's it all going?
I started cycle 2 on Monday, heading into the clinic for the first scan this morning to see what growth is going on, my fitted jeans are already tight this morning and had to switch to the larger stretchy pair so popping out again this cycle!

Bellwells · 28/04/2023 17:55

@Thinkinhappythoughts how are you getting on with your cycle? When is EC scheduled for?

Cally1980 · 18/06/2023 10:23

Hello,

I thought I’d revive this thread as I’m awaiting pGTA results on four embryos. I’m quite worried after reading the comments. Mine are 2xAAand 2xAB. I’m frightened as we struggled to afford the first round and my partners parent died right before we have the egg collection, it’s been a shitty time already and we could really use something positive to look forward to rather than more loss.
I hope everyone is doing okay.

Bellwells · 18/06/2023 14:07

Heyy @Cally1980 I’m all good thanks preparing for FET for our 1 x day 6 (6b-b-) embryo (pgt-m & pgt-a) normal.

b0zza1 · 19/06/2023 22:02

Hi @Cally1980 and @Bellwells I'll be brief now, but wanted to say thank you for reviving thread. I'm due to start stims next week on 2nd back to back ec cycle. 6 x day 3 embryos from first. Hoping to have 4 blasts to pgta test in a few weeks time (I'm 45 years old) and so will be back!
