Hello,

I've been prescribed Clomid by my consultant to try and get me ovulating. This will be my first cycle ttc with it.

Is anyone else in the same boat? I thought it would be nice to have a little support group on the go!

Me! I am half way through my first cycle on clomid 50mg). In all honesty can’t say I feel any different - I already ovulate without clomid - I was hoping clomid might strengthen my LH levels and/or make me ovulate earlier but neither happened! Think I’m currently 2DPO :)

What dosage are you on? Good luck!

tarrazu · 17/02/2023 09:35

I'm also on 50g! We aren't sure if I am ovulating as my cycles are really long due to PCOS. I do get periods but it varies between 30 and 60 days.

I don't know if it is just the general stress of it all, but I feel way more emotional and irritable since taking it. I am also taking some myo-inositol alongside it as its supposed to be good for ovulation too.

Do you use the LH test strips to try and catch your ovulation?

Superstorefan123 · 17/02/2023 18:27

I am also taking Myo-inositol:) didn’t feel too irritated but did find I am more bloated!!

I did use LH strips to track ovulation - I ended up ovulating on CD17 and the LH peak wasnt that high but I’ve confirmed ovulation through BBT :)

best of luck!

Hi, hope your journeys are going well. I’m not on my first cycle, but at the beginning of my second (currently CD5).
@Superstorefan123 How’re you feeling after ovulation, if you don’t mind me asking. In the last round of clomid, the week after ovulation (CD17) I had really sore ovaries. Speed bumps were a nightmare when driving.
@tarrazu Are you getting on ok? Have you finished taking your first round yet? I’m using the OPKs and BBT to track, hope yours are looking good 🤞🏼

Superstorefan123 · 20/02/2023 17:22

@Oakley321 honestly completely fine! No symptoms at all except a tiny bit of bloating (which I get without clomid anyway). Fingers crossed this cycle is less painful for you

Oakley321 · 20/02/2023 17:24

Are you very far off testing? Hope you see your BFP this cycle ☺️

Superstorefan123 · 20/02/2023 22:24

I’m currently 7DPO but going to try and hold out until my period turns up! Hoping so hard :(

Oakley321 · 21/02/2023 07:54

You must have great will-power! I drove myself (and my bank balance) crazy with early testing last month.
Only a week or so to go then, fingers and toes crossed for you!

tarrazu · 22/02/2023 11:40

I'm CD9 on my first cycle with it. I finished taking the tablets on Sunday. Had a few twinges on my right side so I'll be interested to see at my scan next week which ovary is producing the follicles! I wonder if they will get worse like yours did @Oakley321 later in the cycle... It doesn't sound very nice, sorry it was so uncomfortable for you!

I haven't started with the LH tests yet but in my head I'm waiting for the scan on CD14, it'll probably be more accurate than the strip tests!

@Superstorefan123 it's so hard isn't it! Try get lots booked in to keep you busy so you stay maximum distracted. Fingers crossed for you though!!

Hi girls any BFP with the clomid? I'm due to start my first round this week when AF arrives :)

Oakley321 · 07/03/2023 21:25

Hi @Clocloxx Good luck with round 1 and hopefully you'll not need a round 2 🤞🏼Keep us posted on your journey! Do you have plans on how you're going to monitor or are you just taking it easy and seeing what happens?
I still haven't had a positive OPK yet and currently on CD 20 so hoping it's just a long cycle and not a clomid fail. It made me ovulate in my first month (CD17 after a positive OPK on CD16), so can't see why it wouldn't this month, but you never know.
How's everyone else doing so far?

tarrazu · 08/03/2023 11:52

I'm similar to you @Oakley321 I'm CD 23 and haven't managed to get a positive OPK yet this cycle, though I haven't been religiously testing just over the past week or so. I did have Day 21 bloods so just waiting for those results to see if my progesterone was up.

My day 14 scan had a good sized follicle on the side where I felt the twinging so that was interesting, plus a few smaller ones on my other ovary so it looks like the clomid is doing its thing.

How are we all feeling? My mood is quite low but I think it's just a combination of everything going on. Hope you guys aren't feeling the same and it's all positivity with you! x

Thanks @Oakley321 I will start tomorrow, AF just arrived this morning 🥲 my GP has just given me 3 months so I guess I'll just see how it goes, some months I ovulate others I don't I also have very regular cycles my gp just thinks I might need an extra hormonal push 🤞 how are you getting on? Did you get a positive opk yet?

Oakley321 · 12/03/2023 12:45

Still no positive OPK and I'm on CD 25. So frustrating. My bbt rose and stayed high (but fluctuating) for a few days from CD18, so I'm just very confused. Hope you've managed ovulating @tarrazu!

tarrazu · 13/03/2023 13:35

@Oakley321 I'm not sure I have either, though I did have some pain over the weekend so maybe that was it? I didn't do any OPK tests though as I ran out! My BBT has been all over the place and there's been a few drops and rises so who knows. My Day 21 tests showed no ovulation either. A bit disheartening as thought the Clomid would sort things out but let's see...

OP posts:
Clocloxx · 14/03/2023 13:29

I've heard clomid can give you LH surges a few times a month, maybe just ditch the OPK and try have sex every second day or 3rd day after awhile it does feel like a task 🥲

Superstorefan123 · 15/03/2023 06:47

@Oakley321 if it helps, I have the shortest LH surge ever, I think made shorter by clomid!! Honestly can be less than 12 hours and in the middle of the night, chance you’ve missed it?

Oakley321 · 15/03/2023 06:56

Thanks for the advice @Superstorefan123 @Clocloxx . Hopefully you're both right! @tarrazu sorry about your day 21, must've been so disappointing to hear that. But honestly I've always found them a bit useless unless you've got a 25-33 day cycle or you delay your day 21 test until a week or so after your LH surge. I've googled the life out of late clomid ovulation and still hopeful that this cycles surge will come, like it did last cycle. Though still no sign yet. Many people really do seem to vary from cycle to cycle on clomid, so 🤞🏼🤞🏼 for both of us!

Clocloxx · 15/03/2023 09:27

I'm only on day 2 of clomid and my period has completely stopped like no flow, usually I've a heavy 5 day flow, has this happened anyone else?

tarrazu · 16/03/2023 10:24

@Oakley321 I agree, the LH testing was dodgy for me even before clomid so its just a crack on and wait and see game! Fingers crossed for both of us. Day 31 currently, I'll wait til day 35 then maybe take a test...

I have however been SUPER emotional for the past week. Like uncontrollable crying for no real reason. My poor DH 😂I googled and 'Clomid Crazies' are a thing. I had no idea so hopefully if anyone else feels the same just know you're not alone and it's just the meds!

@Clocloxx it didn't effect my period but I've only done 1 cycle so far...

OP posts:
tarrazu · 20/03/2023 14:36

How are we all doing ladies?

I took my CD35 test as still no sign of AF and it was negative...

OP posts:
Oakley321 · 21/03/2023 06:39

CD 34 and still no positive OPK, HCG or progesterone test. Also no AF. Called the fertility nurse and she's told me that if AF hasn't shown up in a few days I'll need to take something to start it then I'll need to up my clomid dose. I feel so broken, not emotionally (This time! Though it's close) but just physically useless. Of all the things in my body not to work, why does the one thing that is have to be my ovaries? Would rather lose a toe. 🤦🏽‍♀️
@Clocloxx my first (and only) post clomid period was only 3 days. It was delightful as I'm used to much longer and messier ones, but it did worry me.
@tarrazu Its so funny you should say that because all week I've been very teary! Which I NEVER am. I burst into tears at a restaurant when a Coldplay song came on. The only reason was "I just really love this song." 😂 Wonder which hormone (or lack of?) is causing this for us?

Clocloxx · 21/03/2023 09:59

@Oakley321 it's good there going to up the dose! Maybe its just what you need to really give ovulation a push :)
I'm ment to be ovulating some time this week my app says Saturday but people I know who took clomid has said they always ovulated 5 days after taken last pill, which for me would be tomorrow

tarrazu · 22/03/2023 09:42

@Oakley321 that's interesting about having something to start it, there wasn't any mention of this when I was prescribed it. I know exactly how you feel though, it seems so unfair when I've been so good to my body. I don't drink or smoke, I'm not overweight, I exercise. I've been sensible and waited until the right time to start a family and it still doesn't work!

I'm just at the point now where I want my period so I can get on with the next cycle. Going to Spain on Saturday morning and I just know it will come when I'm away. Holidays never fall in the fertile window do they 😂

@Clocloxx hopefully you are ovulating earlier, that will be a nice quick cycle! Time to crack on 😉

OP posts:
Oakley321 · 25/03/2023 04:40

@Clocloxx Hope you've seen that darker test line by now!

@tarrazu AF came yesterday, though it's an anovulatory "period". Hope your new cycle starts soon (or you get a surprise bfp). However, a period free trip to Spain would be nice for you too!
