IVF/ICSI Dec 2022

Hi, I couldn’t find a board for those starting IVF OR ICSI in December so thought I’d create one.
This will be our first round and we are due to have our egg collection on the 5th of December. I’m not sure how dates usually work but not having regular periods I need to take Provera the second week in November which I think makes it easier for them as the medicine will result in a bleed and our baseline scan should be 7 days after starting on the medication.

Would love to see if anyone else is due to start ICSI or IVF in December.

Thanks @Pwdin 🥰. That's great that the test line is getting stronger!! And why not eat all of your advent calendar 😅
Did you call the clinic in the end?

I think it is probably over for me as my bleeding is very heavy now, but @Cathy290 your mum's experience does give me hope ❤️ and just shows that you never can tell for sure. Also the nurses at my clinic have said bleeding in early pregnancy can be completely normal. They've told me to carry on with the progesterone and test on my OTD, which is Friday (9dpt). Did you say yours was this weekend @Cathy290? Still keeping everything crossed for you 🙏🤞

Cathy290 · 14/12/2022 19:39

@Pwdin so glad that the line is darker which can only be a positive sign! Did you phone up today? as for the advent calendar I’ve no words 😂

@kamaha after hearing that it did give me a bit of hope but still can’t help overthinking and thinking the worst! The nurse also said that the progesterone can also cause cramps and headaches so hopefully it’s that as well! Yes my testing day is Sunday, I’m surprised they are getting you to test 9dpt instead of 14dpt or if this normal for your clinic?

hope you are all keeping cozy and haven’t got too much snow with you!

kamaha · 14/12/2022 20:15

@Cathy290 it really is so hard not to overthink and worry about it all! I've also heard progesterone can cause headaches and cramps, and spotting too (when used vaginally obviously!), so you just never know. Yes, I find it so funny how clinics have different testing times. Why is that?! My clinic seems to count 14 days from the day after EC (which I guess is the day of fertilisation?), rather than transfer. Then they say, if it's negative on day 9 to test again 2 days later to be sure (but that's still only 11dpt 🤷🏻‍♀️).
Hope you're keeping nice and warm too! Xx

Hi ladies - following all your stories and keeping all crossed for Xmas miracles for all of you! Everyone is so different it’s impossible to know. Just keep faith - it will happen for all of us 🤍

Cathy290 · 16/12/2022 06:44

@kamaha i have everything crossed for you today xx

kamaha · 16/12/2022 10:54

Thanks @Cathy290 🥰 I'm sorry to say it wasn't good news for us this morning. The bleeding has been very heavy the last couple of days so I sort of expected it really. Given how heavy the bleeding has been and the negative tests (including on a FRER!!) I'm not sure the clinic will need us to retest now, but waiting to hear. I do hope you have more luck on Sunday - I'm keeping everything crossed for you xxx

Pwdin · 16/12/2022 16:03

Hi @kamaha I'm sorry it's not been good news for you this time. How are you feeling? xx

@Cathy290 Best of luck to you for this weekend! Has the spotting stopped for you? xx

Sorry I am only just replying to you both. I did fess up to the clinic and they have booked me in for a viability scan first week of January, which is exciting! I have had a couple of days of really bad IBS-like symptoms and fatigue which isn't great but I am not complaining, I'm still on cloud 9. I just can't believe the incredible good luck we've had so far - I am not used to good luck! Obviously there is uncertainty at this point but fingers crossed we will have some reassurances from the viability scan and things keep going well up to that point (and beyond!).

X

Cathy290 · 17/12/2022 07:10

@kamaha I’m so sorry to read this! How are you feeling? Did you manage to get in touch with the clinic to see what their advice was for next steps?

@Pwdin thats absolutely amazing news for you! Hopefully the IBS and fatigue are now passed and it will be smooth sailing now! I ended up having a period like bleed (I can’t be sure if it was just as heavy or not because I used pad’s instead of tampons this time and that just threw me)! It wasn’t as painful as my normal though so hopefully that’s a good sign!

Hello, may I join you 😊? I am 43 on second round of IVF. I feel a bit lonely since I don't want to share with my family and friends how difficult this is for me. I have a daughter 12 and it took me a lot of years to overcome anxiety and depression to be able to try for a second one. Our first one was conceived without trying and I felt that it was probably going to be easy. So here we are 2and half years one miscarriage one failed IVF and on my second round, testing tomorrow however I have been spotting since yesterday. I had 12 and 14 eggs respectively 60%fertilized every time 2 average blastocysts day 5. Not sure what is going on, normal thickness endometrium. I can't help it but feeling something is being consistently missed. All the time the answer I get is my age and the quality which I agree but can't help having this gut feeling that something is being consistently missed. Sorry for the long post 😞. Hope everyone is doing well. At some point we shall get to our rainbow 🌈 whatever that means for each one ❤️

Pwdin · 18/12/2022 08:36

Good luck @Cathy290 and @iloveteddies! 🙏🙏

iloveteddies · 18/12/2022 09:32

Thanks unfortunately is as suspected negative again. I just need to be strong and ask my questions rather than accept that is the age. Initially they said that there only 6 eggs predicting to collect when I woke up they harvest 14. Previous time I had 12, I am not complaining I just think something is going on. Isn't that a lot for a 43 year old with no pcos and an amh 7.9? And then they said DH had issues with sample and then not and then go for frozen and then fresh. Not sure what to think. I know I am trying to find something to make me feel better and it is most likely the quality issues due to my age but I am not going to next round just doing the same thing without questioning. Well that's me venting I guess. Hope everyone is doing well and keep their heads up. Thanks for your support it does make me feel less isolated that others are going through similar.

Cathy290 · 18/12/2022 13:05

I thought I was prepared for the emotional turmoil that would have been after testing and finding out it was negative but oh boy did I underestimate it! Nothing can quite prepare you for only seeing one line! But as my partner keeps telling me it’s not over yet and we just have to stay as positive as possible! 💞

@iloveteddies im so sorry to hear that but you are quite right that you need to air your concerns and questions before undertaking then next round!

iloveteddies · 18/12/2022 16:23

@Cathy290 I feel the same. I had hoped even the last minute. I am taking as a win we reached at testing. I am taking time to grieve I am not going to pretend I am getting over it.i need to let it get out of me. It is something that happened to me and invested in a future and is ok to feel devastated. I know that there is lots more issues harder than mine but right now I am accepting that I am upset and stop fighting it. Hope you're are being gentle to yourself. Sending you virtual hugs

Cathy290 · 22/12/2022 14:52

@iloveteddies thank you, I hope you are doing well!

@kamaha , @Pwdin hoe are you two getting on?

If I don’t get on here again before Christmas, I hope you all have a lovely time 😘

Pwdin · 22/12/2022 15:28

Hi @Cathy290 I'm sorry I did mean to message on here sooner! Sorry about the initial bfn and disappointment. Is it a confirmed negative for you now? I hope you are doing ok. It really is a turmoil to go through but I hope you are feeling resolved and strong in yourself again. Catch you on the other side of Christmas if we don't manage to get back on here when the festivities set in. Have a lovely time and thanks for checking in - I am doing well thanks, although I have turned into an after work napper these past few days, just can't seem to keep my eyes open! And there's so much to do! xx

@iloveteddies I am so sorry it wasn't good news. I hope you will be able to have a frank discussion with your clinic and get some proper answers from them. Have you managed to do this already?

I hope all of you have a well deserved break over the Christmas period. The lead up to it has been relentless for us all, so hopefully this will be a chance to wind down and relax XXX

iloveteddies · 24/12/2022 14:30

Hope everyone has a nice break ☺️
