Thought I'd start a thread for those starting rounds in the next few months.

I'm 36. TTC for 6 years. This will be my 4th transfer. It's a double embryo FET in Cyprus.

Welcome welcome 😁

Good luck @PMAmostofthetime and @Steph2345 for transfers today…..is there anyone else?

FruitTwistFanta · 30/03/2022 08:41
@FruitTwistFanta :)
Thank you! Massive good luck for today.

Hi everyone, I had my first egg collection yesterday. They collected 9 eggs, I’m waiting to hear how many have fertilised - will hear within the next couple of hours hopefully.

Love reading all your messages, it’s so nice when you know people know exactly what you’re going through!

Nutrinerd · 30/03/2022 08:45

@Steph2345 @PMAmostofthetime hope today goes well for you both!

@FruitTwistFanta hope your update brings good news and that you’re feeling ok after the collection!

Iwouldlikesomecake · 30/03/2022 09:10

Morning. Finally joining after reading this whole thread :) I’m 41 on first round of ivf (icsi) and currently day 9 of stims. Got 4 follicles I believe which is better than we thought on the baseline scan!

Am on short protocol with Gonal-F and Fyremadel and not gonna lie, stims are kicking my arse. I’m not that bothered about injections as I give them to other people for work but the Fyremadel stings a bit- but my god the headaches. I’m prone to migraines anyway but this week has been something else. Last night I went from ‘fine’ to ‘cheerfully would accept death’ in about half an hour. Ate one slice of pizza, threw up, went to bed for an hour then came back and ate the rest of the cold pizza Grin

I’ve always been quite circumspect about the outcome of all this and we wanted at least to have tried it but I can honestly say I don’t think I will be doing this more than once!

PMAmostofthetime · 30/03/2022 09:16

Not good news for us unfortunately so out of the 5 that fertilised on day 1 at day 3 there was 2 developing and 1 just behind.
The one just behind completely stopped developing and the other 2 slowed down and are not where they would like them to be today. They are going to put them both in later but I already feel like we are out and have cried the rain.

😢😭

PMAmostofthetime · 30/03/2022 09:19

@Iwouldlikesomecake
Welcome, headaches kicked my but too- up your water intake, eat lots of protein but remember to have some fat too. I also bought Kool N Soothe strips and 4head and used alongside paracetamol.

Hope this helps.

Steph2345 · 30/03/2022 09:21

@PMAmostofthetime oh no!! Have they indicated what the changes are? I’m sure they would transfer them if they didn’t think there was some hope. I can’t imagine how you are feeling. Amend your list of questions so you don’t forget to ask things as this is already an emotional minefield let alone having news like this before you get there.
I’m thinking of you and have everything crossed xx

Steph2345 · 30/03/2022 09:21

@PMAmostofthetime *chances not changes

Steph2345 · 30/03/2022 09:22

@PMAmostofthetime *and they wouldn’t transfer if they didn’t think they was hope

PMAmostofthetime · 30/03/2022 09:44

@Steph2345 good luck today 🤞🏼and Thank you

No I asked and they said they couldn't grade them in this state, but there's a lower chance that's why they will put the 2 in as they are not suitable for freezing.

Devastated 😭

X

ginandtonicformeplease · 30/03/2022 10:02

@PMAmostofthetime To me, IVF is still such an inexact science that I try not to get disheartened by news like that: we got two "perfect" 1-1 embryos from EC way back in 2018. One ended in a MC, one was a BFN. It was an embryo much further down the list that actually worked! So don't give up hope.

@Steph2345 Good luck for today 🤞

I've been so busy at work that I haven't really thought about it much until yesterday. Now I can't stop thinking about whether the transfer worked! I can hardly do my jeans up (thanks progesterone and steroids) and had really bad dull cramps last night that kept me awake. Does anyone else get irrationally irate at their DH/DP that he literally has one job in this entire process and everything else falls on you? That was me last night, when he was sleeping like a baby while I was searching for the paracetamol and wondering "what if" Grin

SamTTC · 30/03/2022 10:18

Oh @PMAmostofthetime I can completely understand why that feels disheartening. As long as you have a transfer there is hope, and you hear so many stories of "poor" looking embryos doing much better in the womb and turning into healthy pregnancies, you are ABSOLUTELY not out for the count! Having said that, it is still a disheartening message and I can completely understand why you feel upset right now. x

About testing...I always cave around one week into the 2ww...that second week feels sooooo long! For me it's actually quite helpful, I never expect a line so it more just helps me to not get my hopes up. (It's literally a Schrödinger's pregnancy situation. I need to know what's in the box!) But everyone needs to find a coping strategy that works for them!

Somatronic · 30/03/2022 10:25

@Iwouldlikesomecake welcome! Oh my goodness you poor thing. My biggest fear for stims is migraines too - I don't start for another few days and it's my first time so I have no idea how I'll react but Dianette and Clomid gave me absolutely horrendous migraines. Do you have any meds you can take? I was told that I can take Zomig up until transfer day if migraines strike.

@PMAmostofthetime I'm so sorry that you didn't get the news you wanted today. As others have said, there's still hope, but I understand your devastation. I hope that you'll be OK xx

@ginandtonicformeplease at least you have a reason for your jeans not fitting. I have no excuse for mine! I got a bit of a shock this morning when I was getting dressed haha.

LuckyNovember · 30/03/2022 10:31

Oh @PMAmostofthetime you poor thing, it must be so upsetting. I like what @ginandtonicformeplease says... I know it doesn't help very much this morning when that news must have been very abrupt, but as you digest it, and after transfer and a god nights sleep, read her comments again 🙂 Any transfer has a chance, and if they transfer it means they didn't *stop developing... they might find your womb a much more friendly environment...

LuckyNovember · 30/03/2022 10:32

Congrats @FruitTwistFanta and welcome @Iwouldlikesomecake 😊

LT103 · 30/03/2022 10:32

@PMAmostofthetime I’m so sorry it isn’t the result you were looking for but you are still having the transfer which means you still have that chance!! And if it isn’t the result you want, then hopefully they will be able to make changes to help the next time.

Take care and for now you are PUPO so just hold on to that!!

Coops0406 · 30/03/2022 10:34

@PMAmostofthetime sending you all my love, it must be hard hearing that but they are both going into the natural environment and hopefully that's where they want to settle. Thinking of you 🥰

Iwouldlikesomecake · 30/03/2022 10:46

@PMAmostofthetime thanks- and best of luck to you, it feels disheartening but you aren’t out till you’re out. I work in a very related area to fertility (ironic) and it amazes me how things can change from one examination to the next so if they are prepared to put them back then there’s still a chance.

Becomingmom · 30/03/2022 10:47

@PMAmostofthetime because my husband and i have been through a few miscarriages and haven’t succeeded in a healthy pregnancy. We are going for PGD which helps lower miscarriage risk, we opted for embryo scope & embryoglue also and lots of progesterone. After lots of fertility testing theres nothing wrong with me at all and i had 33 follicles so hopefully i get good numbers at the retrieval and transfer etc. Good luck with your cycle!

Agapanthus13 · 30/03/2022 11:59

Hi Ladies, Please can I join? I’m currently in my 2ww 8dp5dt today and driving myself a little insane. Would be great to have others to chat with. This is my second round, and have been feeling pretty positive, but my ‘symptoms’ (not sure if I’m over thinking them etc) seem to be fading. I also have Covid 😷 so getting beautifully bright positives atm, just not on the test I’d like it to be 🙈

Herewegoagain881 · 30/03/2022 12:18

@PMAmostofthetime I'm sorry the news today wasn't as hoped for, sending hugs your way and I'm keeping everything crossed for you, hopefully the growth will pick up now they are in the womb xxx

Welcome @Agapanthus13 I'm just a few days behind you, at 5dp5dt. What symptoms did you have? I felt a bit crampy and achy the day or two after transfer but other than bloated all is back to normal. Except when I take oral progesterone I can feel a bit unwell but it's a side effect of the meds. That's such a pain about covid, it's really picked up again lately.. I've now also been exposed but so far negative, everyone around me is ill though and I am a bit too, I can feel my chest getting a bit congested..not great for the 2ww. How bad are your symptoms?

Agapanthus13 · 30/03/2022 12:33

@Herewegoagain881 aw, yes, we’re on a similar time line. I had very mild cramps / twinges the first couple of days, and then again today (today’s worried me). And my boobs hurt the first few days but now nothing. Have also had very heightened sense of smell (contrary to the Covid). My clinic told me my official test day is tomorrow but I had my transfer last Tuesday so I only count that as day 9? My last clinic had me test of d14- what have yours said?
Sorry to hear you’re finding symptoms with the meds, I have pessaries for the progesterone which I find fine, none of them are particularly enjoyable though! Also fingers crossed you don’t pick up Covid too 🤞🏻 My clinic essentially told me to drink lots and lots of water and take paracetamol if I get a fever to keep my temperature down, I was quite poorly on 4dp5dt and took quite a few painkillers to try and stop my body getting too hot. Starting to feel better today, really tired and the cough, cold part has kicked in (on day 6 of Covid) Just really hope It hasn’t messed this cycle up, it has caused a lot of stress.

Agapanthus13 · 30/03/2022 13:04

@PMAmostofthetime really sorry to read your post. This whole process is so tough 💕 Youve still got 2embies going back in, and your clinic wouldn’t do so if they didn’t think they had a chance. Things change day by day, and there are so many happy & healthy kids wondering around out their who were poorly graded / ungraded embies. Keeping everything crossed for you x

Herewegoagain881 · 30/03/2022 13:36

@Agapanthus13 wow, not long now till test day! My clinic does a blood test at 14 days if the hpt test is positive, so it's quite a long wait, although I'll be testing well before then. When I was under the NHS it was only 9 days, I think it's fairly common to test then.

Hopefully having covid hasn't affected the transfer, although I can imagine how stressful it's been with the timingFingers crossed the loss of symptoms don't mean anything, it may be a side effect of the progesterone. I don't know if it helps but in my last pregnancy I didn't get sore boobs at all! If the transfer works I've already resigned myself to super stressful pregnancy as my toddler is constantly bringing home nasty viruses that are pretty much constantly making us sick!

Suki2020 · 30/03/2022 13:41

@Somatronic yeah mine kept going up and down. I was having blood tests every 5/6weeks for just over a year before they got it low enough for ivf. I’m now at 1.3.

@LT103 did you get any side effects when you started your injections? When do I need to take electrolytes? Have you had to wait long from your FET to the frozen transfer?

@Herewegoagain881 sorry to hear about your miscarriage, but happy you managed to get your baby with the extra medication. Gives everyone hope.

@SamTTC totally understandable feelings. We are all here for you hun. I had a baseline scan months ago so this is my first one since starting my injections.

@Steph2345 thank you. How are you feeling? What medication are you taking?

@PMAmostofthetime what does the 60g of protein do? Sorry to hear that today didn’t go as well as you’d hoped but they must think there is a chance if they are still going to put the embryos back in. I have everything crossed that it works for you.
