Thought I'd start a thread for those starting rounds in the next few months.

I'm 36. TTC for 6 years. This will be my 4th transfer. It's a double embryo FET in Cyprus.

Welcome welcome 😁

@LT103 yeah I had diazepam and then the IV with two different painkillers. I was chilled out and a bit woozy drunk feeling but I remember every part of it. Don't want that to scare anyone else waiting for EC, seems everyone is different!

I know, it's not an easy couple of days, I felt like my heart was jumping out my chest answering all of the calls. Definitely stay off google! Enjoy the good news of today and well done xx

BlueSilver23 · 24/03/2022 13:23

@LT103 9 eggs is a great number, hopefully you’ll get a good number to freeze with that!

@Steph2345 Waking up every 4 hours for a nasal spray sounds terribly disruptive but still might choose that over the injections!

@manny33 Welcome! I only joined yesterday to prepare for a (hopefully) upcoming EC/FET in April

Bobtat · 24/03/2022 13:29

They are taking our morula (frozen day 5 pre-blast stage) out today to see if it defrosts and if it starts to divide/grow into a blast they will do a transfer and put it in tomorrow. If not, that it and our IVF journey will be over. Nerve wracking wait tbh! Trying to do some gardening to distract myself.

@PMAmostofthetime it must depend on what drugs you need as they are prescribing for different issues but I've had nasal sprays for my FETs (buserelin and naferelin) - much better than needles IMO and only once a day for me.

@PMAmostofthetime @Steph2345
Best of luck for tomorrow. I was totally out of it for my EC - might as well have been general! Don't remember a thing!

@LT103 pleased your EC went so well - those odds sound about right. Everything crossed for you.

@manny33 welcome welcome! Lovely to hear your success and sorry to hear about your BFN last time. Hopefully this is a good'un. My first two rounds of IVF (ICSI - one fresh, one FET) were successful and my next two weren't (one BFN, one MC). It's a funny old business!

SUMMERTIME02 · 24/03/2022 14:12

Anyone who has EC coming up - remember not to eat/drink past the time the clinic has advised you to. It makes all the difference on the anaesthetic and after effects of it.

I managed to book in for my baseline scan for next tuesday! im hoping all is well and then i can start my FET cycle :)

Hope you're all staying nicely distracted and are resting well x

SamTTC · 24/03/2022 14:31

Woo @LT103 congratulations! 9 eggs is great! Now it’s really up to the little eggs and sperm to do the work - at once such a relief and so hard to accept haha! I hope your recovery goes smoothly :)

It’s so interesting hearing about the different retrieval ‘styles’ the clinics use. I was only on morphine and local anaesthesia during my retrieval. The morphine was to dull the pain of the local anaesthesia needle I think. It worked so-so lol. But once the area was numbed I felt nothing. They kept being like “let us know when the morphine kicks in!!” And I just never felt different so they were just like “ah well, it probably has!” Haha. Good times. But it was totally fine and it was very cool to see the follicles being sucked out.

Welcome @manny33! Congrats on your first success and crossing fingers for the next one :)

Thinking of you @Bobtat, let us know how it goes x

SUMMERTIME02 · 24/03/2022 16:19

I just realised i writ anaesthetic instead of anaesthesia lol.
I was under sedation for EC, so whatever that is. A few ladies on my turn said they felt dizzy after and said they had a little drink after the time they were given to be nil by mouth, so i reckon drink affects the sedation and how u feel after.

Hopingforamiracle11 · 24/03/2022 16:50

@LT103 congratulations xx 9 eggs is a great number!

@PMAmostofthetime and @Steph2345 good luck tomorrow x

@HJen22 how are you today? I hope you had a better nights sleep? x Last night I woke up at 3am and just couldn’t go back to sleep - everything is just so stressful and overwhelming.

I had conscious sedation during my EC and don’t remember a thing so I’m guessing I fell asleep :)

I’m officially in 2ww now with one blast on board!

Sadly my initial number of eggs retrieved did not bring a massive success when it comes to Frosties. Yesterday they froze 1 and today another two improved, so I’ve got 3 frozen, but quality-wise they are not great (4BB, 4BC, 5BC).

Have a good evening all x

AliceAbsolum · 24/03/2022 16:53

@Hopingforamiracle11 Congrats on being PUPO!
They wouldn't have frozen them if they didn't think they were viable. Would you have more than 1 transfered in the future?

OP posts:
Hopingforamiracle11 · 24/03/2022 17:00

@AliceAbsolum you’re definitely right, but somehow I still feel down that my blastocyst rate was so low (22% of fertilised eggs, where I heard that this rate should be on average 40-60%). Thank you though x
Is that even an option? I feel like my clinic may say no? I wish I could go with 2 next time, but I’m 99% sure they won’t agree.

HJen22 · 24/03/2022 17:00

@Bobtat sending all the luck that you transfer today!! Must be a super nervous day, I hope your gardening managed to distract you a little!

It's so funny how everywhere is different with protocols and EC and even transfers isn't it. I had known I wasn't going to be totally out of it as two friends have went through it, and even though I was awake I would / and will do it all again in a heartbeat! And i know what to expect for next time.

@PMAmostofthetime @Steph2345 I hope you ladies are enjoying your jab free day! How are you both?

@SUMMERTIME02 great news your baseline scan is booked in! Almost time for starting! How are you feeling?

@Hopingforamiracle11 that's fab news; congrats on being official PUPO!! I'm sorry you didn't get the numbers you'd hoped for but that's still a great outcome.

After forcing myself to stay awake later than usual I did sleep right through. I think I just wish I could get 9 hours like I used to haha. I've always been such a good sleeper. Until all of this! But never mind!

HJen22 · 24/03/2022 17:01

@Bobtat sorry that should have read transfer tomorrow not today!

Hopingforamiracle11 · 24/03/2022 17:23

@HJen22 that’s so true - we all have different experiences in regards to EC and transfers, obviously it’s not a comfortable situation, but I’d definitely do it again! I wish I could have another full cycle, but my funding for second round would only cover transfer of the already existing embryo.

I’m glad you slept better x ohh yes, 9 hrs of sleep sounds like a dream!

SUMMERTIME02 · 24/03/2022 17:42

@HJen22 super excited! like i've been doing a deep clean of the house to stay distracted, also for the sake of taking it easy once i've started this cycle.

9 hours would be a dream! i get about 7 hours now, i've noticed as long as i sleep before 1.30am im fine. If i sleep any later than that, whether its 7 hours or 9, i feel groggy x

LT103 · 24/03/2022 18:03

@Hopingforamiracle11 congratulations right now you’re pupo and there are plenty of stories of blasts of lower grades working fine so that’s great you have a couple frozen too!!

I’m not going to lie I’ve had a bit of a rough afternoon and been quite uncomfortable but had a sleep and feeling a little better
I was a bit wobbly and drowsy when I came round but it passed quickly. Been told to drink lots today though so trying my hardest. Just relaxing and getting a takeaway today. Yeah e haven’t had a drink since new year really and I can’t today but OH is enjoying a beer haha

Nutrinerd · 24/03/2022 21:20

Hello everyone,
Hope you don’t mind me joining so far in to the thread. Today everything suddenly seems a lot more “real” after so much disruption over the last couple of years. My background is POI, undiagnosed for a number of years then under-replaced with HRT. I’m 38 now, using donor eggs - 8/10 fertilised yesterday, transfer on Monday. The clinic don’t provide further updates apparently - just turn up on Monday and hope there’s something to transfer! So far getting on ok with the progesterone but some formulations have made me very emotionally labile in the past. It’s so helpful to find other people going through this at the same time, thank you to everyone who is sharing their experiences, feel a bit less anxious about the weekend wait after reading through (hope I get to the 2ww and can enjoy listening to the soothing Irishman meditations!)

PMAmostofthetime · 24/03/2022 22:06

@Steph2345 EC twins- I have just finished doing everything and jumping in the shower. I worked today which I thought was a stupid idea but I have not had time to think about it.
In all honesty I'm just worried about the cannula going in my hand, makes me feel queasy just thinking about it. After that's done I'll be worried there will be no eggs I'm sure.
How are you feeling?

@AliceAbsolum and @HJen22 loved my day of no injections!

Welcome @manny33 hope your new cycle starts asap and is as successful as the one with your daughter. This group has been amazing support for me.

@LT103 9 that's amazing, how are you feeling now? Any tips for tomorrow?
Also super jealous of your friends nasal spray- I think I need to look into this.

@Steph2345 honestly this would have taken away my stress levels.

@Bobtat Thank you and good luck for tomorrow.

@SUMMERTIME02 thanks for the tip I have to leave at 6:30 to get to the clinic so I think I'll drink some water before bed and then leave it at that :)

@Hopingforamiracle11 thank you and yay! How are you feeling?
Also 3 Frosties is amazing!

@Nutrinerd welcome! Depending on how tomorrow goes I maybe transfer Monday or Wednesday. This groups has helped me so much and to feel normal. They have also peeled me off the ceiling a few times.

Good Luck for Monday! 8/10 is amazing :) and I will be the same after tomorrow no update once told about fertilisation so we can do the weekend together. This is my first cycle unexplained fertility but pinhole cervix which doesn't help with investigations, been ttc for 6 years.

LT103 · 24/03/2022 22:16

@PMAmostofthetime honestly don’t worry about it. It was over in no time. I didn’t even really notice the iv going in as the nurse and doctor were asking me things and sorting bp etc at same time.
Just make sure you have nothing on tomorrow and have a quiet relaxing day. I’ve been really crampy and sore but I was quite a bit beforehand too so I think everyone is different.

Good luck for tomorrow!!! You got this!!

PMAmostofthetime · 24/03/2022 22:23

@LT103 Thank you-
I have nothing planned for the whole week, work said to see how it goes in regards to going in next week as we don't know of ET is Monday or Wednesday if we get any blasts that is.

I think crampy and sore it to be expected- I googled EC at the beginning of my cycle and watched a YouTube video- do not do it! Watch the video that is.

Steph2345 · 24/03/2022 22:36

@PMAmostofthetime I have just done exactly the same thing, all showered and I worked all day too. Are you having the transfer this cycle too or are you freezing? I’m really nervous about the cannula too! And then having no eggs! Funny how we all have similar nerves. Hope tomorrow goes well for you!

Thank you everyone for all of your good lucks! Hopefully I’ll chill and get some sleep this eve so I’m fresh for tomorrow

PMAmostofthetime · 24/03/2022 23:36

@Steph2345 yes having transfer this cycle if there are any there. Either Monday or Wednesday depending on the quality.
Are you?
Yes exactly the same nerves.
Hope tomorrow goes well for you and we can compare after it's all done :)

Nutrinerd · 25/03/2022 06:46

@PMAmostofthetime hope today all goes well! Sounds like your workplace are being quite flexible which I guess helps with all the unknown timings. Reminds me I need to check trains for actually getting to the transfer!

HJen22 · 25/03/2022 06:46

@PMAmostofthetime @Steph2345 Good luck today ladies with your EC! Thinking of yous, you've got this!!

@LT103 sending all the positive vibes for your fertilisation update call today! Hope you're feeling ok and managed to get a rest yesterday.

@Bobtat good luck today, I hope your morula continued to grow yesterday and all set for transfer today!

@Nutrinerd welcome! And all the best for your transfer on Monday! I hope you have some nice things planned over the weekend to keep your mind of it, although that's easier said than done isn't it! Xx

LT103 · 25/03/2022 06:54

@Steph2345 @PMAmostofthetime good luck with collection today!!!!

@HJen22 was pretty sore all yesterday but much better this morning. Have barely slept worrying about todays call 🤦🏻‍♀️

Coops0406 · 25/03/2022 07:33

@PMAmostofthetime @Steph2345 good luck for EC today, I hope you have a great sleep and wake up from it without knowing what happened 😊

@LT103 good luck for your call today. And then enjoy your weekend trying not to think about it.

@Nutrinerd great news that 8/10 fertilised, and with your donor eggs I would hope and imagine you will have some good ones for them to choose from on Monday.

@AliceAbsolum how are you doing? I just read you have transfer on Monday, I can't relieve how fast that has crept up! Quick question, I noticed about the triple layer lining (which is my scan last week wasn't there so have been on oestrogen for an extra week and on a higher dose)...what were you on and for how long before that scan? I think normal doses of any hormone don't seem to do anything for me in general!

@HJen22 how are you doing? Have you had a review meeting yet? I hope you're keeping busy with lots of fun stuff! I'm making sure I exercise 3 times a week! Just light exercise and only half an hour each time but it's something aside from just walking the dog!

@BlueSilver23 I hope you are well. I think we've been on other threads at similar times. Where are you up to on your journey? I saw that you have 14 eggs frozen which is fab, what are the next steps for you?

I'm off for a scan again to see if my lining has thickened enough to get this triple layer then fingers crossed biopsies next week 🤞🏾 At least this wasn't an proper FET one or I'd be so annoyed with the meds not doing much again!

PMAmostofthetime · 25/03/2022 07:44

Thanks All, just going in.
Very nervous.
Speak to you all later
