Thought I'd start a thread for those starting rounds in the next few months.

I'm 36. TTC for 6 years. This will be my 4th transfer. It's a double embryo FET in Cyprus.

Welcome welcome 😁

@PMAmostofthetime glad your scan went ok and good luck for Friday!!
Ive enjoyed my injection free day today but starting to get nervous for tomorrow! I just wish I had a crystal ball!

BlueSilver23 · 23/03/2022 15:57

@LT103 Best of luck for tomorrow, the only thing that wasn’t traumatic in my last cycle was the EC itself, had a nice little nap and some biscuits!

LT103 · 23/03/2022 16:00

I’m now panicking that my ovaries don’t hurt any more and I’ve already ovulated 😩. It’s just never ending panic. Wonder if I’ll ever relax

BlueSilver23 · 23/03/2022 16:27

@LT103 I know, you imagine all scenarios, they were over an hour late for my EC and I really panicked that I’d ovulated. Ended up being ok in the end! I sometimes think that a day of not having injections makes things just less painful all round.

SamTTC · 23/03/2022 16:30

Aw @LT103 I had exactly the same feeling! It’s most likely the meds messing with you. It was with me :)
Exciting about collection tomorrow! I also had a totally chill experience and I think the excitement of having the eggs retrieved outweighed any discomfort.

@BlueSilver23 thanks yeah it was such a depressing time. Just bfn after bfn. I am on IVF now, did my first transfer at the beginning of March- another bfn. It’s hard to keep feeling optimistic, not going to lie, but statistically I know there’s no reason to feel disheartened yet.
Wow yeah your mum got super lucky with the endo and everything, good on you for getting things checked out. Like you said, if your AMH is on the low side already it really doesn’t feel safe to wait. I also feel like this chapter of my life is just here right now, you know? Even if I felt totally safe waiting a few years, I wouldn’t want to. Everyone is different. We are lucky to have this option available- especially if it works of course.

HJen22 · 23/03/2022 17:16

@SamTTC @BlueSilver23 you ladies are doing an amazing thing, I completely understand the age factor for us and that bloody ticking biological clock and not wanting to have to wait for a man to come along to give you your dream of being a mum.

My OH and I were recently talking about this after someone on married at first sight was really longing for a baby. I was saying if I were her I'd just go straight for treatment and not force something trying to find the man first and then have to wait til they were ready for children. I had a relationship for 12 years before I met my current OH and if I hadn't met him so quickly I'd have considered freezing eggs for sure.

Single mothers are amazing and raise fantastic people! Well done to you super strong and inspirational ladies, I am sure you have many supportive cheerleaders around you that are just as good at any partner xx

BlueSilver23 · 23/03/2022 17:17

@SamTTC Sorry to hear that but you’re right no need to be disheartened. And they say 3 ivf rounds are needed on average for success if there are no other major issues? It’s all a bit of a numbers game it seems isn’t it? An expensive one at that! Hopefully the next time is the charm for you! Seeing some of the successes on here helps too

Steph2345 · 23/03/2022 17:39

@HJen22 don't worry at all! Not insensitive, it's good to know where other people who are on a similar journey are at.

@SamTTC I'm sorry to hear about your failed fresh transfer, but so pleased you have some frozen ones waiting for you! Hopefully this time it will be good news for you.

@BlueSilver23 welcome! Sounds like you have had quite a start to your journey already. Finger-crossed things are a little more straight forward for you in your next cycle :)

@PMAmostofthetime my scan went well thanks. We have booked the EC for Friday morning. Trigger shot ready to take this evening .

@LT103 good luck tomorrow!! I have everything crossed for you. Hope you manage to get some sleep this eve.

As a general update, my scan went better today. My follicles have grown - some have been a little greedy and kept all the FSH to themselves and are now just over 30mm. I have hopefully 5 others though that are within the clinic's "ok" range and 4 others that are small and not doing a lot so probably won't be ok but you never know!

Thank you all for your kind words and well wishes

AliceAbsolum · 23/03/2022 18:26

Really inspiring reading all your updates ladies. I think freezing is a wise thing to do. At least you have options then.
At the clinic today I overheard a lady saying she was doing embryo donation alone. Amazing. I wouldn't have the confidence for that. This is hard enough with a supportive DH.

Scan went well, linings increased, triple layer, good for transfer on Monday.
I start my antibiotics, steroids and progesterone pessaries tonight.
Just injected myself with a shit tonne of HgG, don't even know why 😅 Ah well. Whatever helps.

HJen22 · 23/03/2022 18:39

@LT103 good luck for tomorrow! I am sure those eggs are nicely comfortable until EC tomorrow. I hope you get a good sleep tonight! And have enjoyed the jab free day!

@Steph2345 that's great your scan went well today and your follicles have grown! Everything crossed that the littler ones join the nicely sized 5 you've already got!

@AliceAbsolum fantastic news about your lining and all ready for transfer on Monday!! How are you feeling about it? And how did your high cal intralipid infusion go?

PMAmostofthetime · 23/03/2022 21:36

@HJen22 Thank You- it's so easy to Catastrophise, I needed to hear that.
Usual 2 injections done. Trigger at 10pm.
Egg collection 8am Friday!

@BlueSilver23 sorry I thought they were Frosties. 14 eggs is amazing and I think it's amazing your going to go ahead now. I was 30 when I started TTC and I'm nearing 36 now on my first cycle- a global pandemic didn't help that but still 6 years! You never know what will happen and everyone's fertility is different and we all know it's definitely not guaranteed,
I admire you so much because as much as I'd have children by myself I'd struggle with the injections- if you read down you will see I'm a huge baby and have a needle phobia.
This group has helped me massively.
It's so good that you have lots of options, for the future as well as for now.
You too @SamTTC admire you all doing your own stims. I'm just about getting through I was so excited at my last 2 earlier and now just trigger very shortly.

@LT103 how was the trigger?
I'm going to ice up and hope for the best.
Good luck for EC tomorrow-
Hoping there's loads of lovely eggs ready :).

@Steph2345 that's great news, I only have 3 at the perfect size and the clinic were more than happy with that. Are you triggering tonight?

@AliceAbsolum that's great news fingers crossed for you. How are you feeling?

How's everyone else feeling?

HJen22 · 23/03/2022 22:08

@PMAmostofthetime believe me, I am the queen of catastrophizing! The counsellor taught me the word and it's been me down to a T since all of this began! I totally understand how easy it is to worry, google and then worry even more. Well done with your two injections and I hope trigger went well too! Enjoy your no jabs tomorrow!!

@LT103 all the luck and positive vibes for EC tomorrow!

BlueSilver23 · 23/03/2022 22:26

@PMAmostofthetime Thank you. The worst thing about EC for me was the needles and mixing meds hands down. Almost put me off the whole thing altogether. Found it awful injecting myself. Why have we not found a better way than needles with all the advances in healthcare? Hopefully your trigger went well, at least no more needles for a bit!

PMAmostofthetime · 23/03/2022 22:38

@HJen22 and @BlueSilver23
Trigger done and I did a little happy dance.

I read online last week that in America they have started to trial nasal spray for ivf stims! This would be amazing wouldn't it.

Steph2345 · 23/03/2022 23:20

@PMAmostofthetime yes I did my trigger at 8:45 this eve. I’m also in at 8 on Friday 🙂 how are you feeling about it?

AliceAbsolum · 24/03/2022 06:17

Nasal spray would be amazing!

Well done on your triggers ladies, not long to go now.

I'm on clexane injections until potentially 28 weeks, and progesterone in oil, so the needles are never ending for me. But who cares it'll be worth it.

@hjen22 Sleep wise - Most people over estimate how much sleep they need. 8 hours is such a myth. It's entirely possible that if you're sleeping at 9 and waking up at 4, 7 hours later, then that's all you need. Do you feel tired in the day?
It takes the body a good while to get adjusted to new sleep patterns, and I know it sounds ridiculous to say "just go to bed later" but if you solidly stay awake until 11pm for 2 weeks you should get yourself around.
The nhs also has some good information on sleep hygiene to follow.

Turns out that the intrilipids will be on transfer day only. I really don't think it will make much difference, but it's only 100EU and the Dr has recommended it so I'm just going to do it.

Started the steroids and antibiotics and progesterone last night, feeling a bit yuck today.

Hcg is weird, I remember after my first trigger shot I POAS just to see a second line. Bit sad really but I couldn't believe they actually existed.
I don't recommend doing that though, it was depressing.

HJen22 · 24/03/2022 06:51

Dammit, the GP was right hahaha I forced myself to stay awake til 10.30pm, and I stayed asleep til 6.30am. I just sometimes can't help falling asleep and being absolutely knackered at 9pm. So I am tired but I guess I just need to try and push past that initial tiredness.

@AliceAbsolum ah that's good you didn't have to spend the day there for the intrilipids. Not so good you're feeling yuck, I hope you have a nice relaxing day planned?

@Steph2345 @PMAmostofthetime well done on trigger ladies!! Enjoy your day off and get plenty rest in prep for tomorrow!

@LT103 good luck for your EC today!

BlueSilver23 · 24/03/2022 11:27

Nasal sprays sounds like the way forward, at this point I’d settle for not having to spend half and hour mixing meds and trying to get rid of air bubbles!

@LT103 Do you have EC today? Best of luck!

manny33 · 24/03/2022 11:33

HI Ladies,

lovely to meet you all and reading your journey.

just joining this group as i have had my nurse coordination appointment today and due to start a short antagonist protocol cycle.

Bit of a background I had my first fresh ICSI cycle back in 2018 from which we had our lovely daughter now 3 years old.

I started a fresh long protocol cycle last summer which unfortunately was PFN

now due to start a fresh short antagonist protocol.

fingers crossed and for each and everyone one of you ;)

LT103 · 24/03/2022 11:35

Egg collection all done and I’m home in pjs on couch. It was all fine. Over and done with quick and I don’t remember any of it haha. Got 9 eggs and sperm looking good so just need to cross fingers now.
Embryologist came to chat to me. She said on average 60% fertilise and of that 40% make it to blast (obv some get better some get worse). So I’ll get a call tomorrow morning saying how many fertilised then an update on Monday (day 4) and a final call on Tuesday to say if any make it to freezer.
5% get nothing so I’ll try and go with my 95% odds of getting something to freeze!

LT103 · 24/03/2022 11:37

@PMAmostofthetime one of my friends has had treatment both nhs and private (Scotland) and had nasal spray both times as per of protocol along with injections. Not sure what it was though

Steph2345 · 24/03/2022 11:50

@PMAmostofthetime I had a spray while I was doing IUI. It was a buserelin spray but I only had it the first 2 times as it was getting hard for them to source (this was only Nov/Dec last year). It would be good for as you really hate injections but I found it a pain as I had to set an alarm and take it every 4 hours on the dot so I took it with me everywhere I went.

@manny33 welcome! So nice to hear of your success in having your daughter. I’m really sorry to hear that your recent attempt wasn’t just as successful, but I’m sure this time will be 🙂

@LT103 so glad everything went well today. 9 eggs is great! Keep us up to date with the progress tomorrow. I’ll keep everything crossed for you. Hope you are able to relax and have a bit R&R over the next few days

HJen22 · 24/03/2022 12:03

@manny33 welcome to the group. So lovely to hear you had success with your daughter in 2018. I wish you all the best in this round coming x

@LT103 that's fab news! So pleased to hear it went well and you got 9 eggs! I have everything crossed for you. Hope you have your feet up and have a restful day planned. The next few days are nerve wracking but you've got a great start!!! Stay positive.

I find it wild some people are completely out of it, my clinic must not use the same drugs as I was fully awake and the Dr was talking to me the whole time and counting down!

LT103 · 24/03/2022 12:41

@HJen22 I had an iv in and ecg/blood pressure monitoring but just a sedative. next thing I knew I was muttering to david about 9 eggs haha. Then I thought I’d made it up and had to wait on nurse coming back!
All went absolutely fine but now the next stage of panic begins. I know it’s completely outwith my control and there’s no point worrying but it doesn’t stop it.
Embryologist said she’s banning me from Google for next 5 days haha
