IVF/ICSI December 2021

Hi everyone,
I didn't see a thread for December so I created one. If it is repetitive please let me know. I can delete this one.

This is gonna be my second ICSI. We started due to male factor (Teratozoospermia) and along the way "discovered" mildly elevated NK, coagulation issues as well as subclinical hypothyroidism 😂😂 Hopefully the list ends here!

My period started later than expected so I started my stims 4 days ago. Retrieval/transfer will probably be early December. Is there anyone here in the same timeline?

Hello All,

I hope it's ok to join this chat.

I had a day 3 transfer yesterday with 2 embryos. Both 'fair' quality. One was 8 cell with asymmetry and the second was a 5 cell, also with asymmetry.

This is our first IVF/ICSI for MFI (1% morphology). We collected only 5 eggs. All 5 were mature but only 2 fertilized.

I guess I was very naive going into this. I though we would have a few that made it to day 5 to choose from and a few to freeze. Oh how wrong I was!

So, not holding out a huge amount of hope for these little embryos, but hoping at least one might be sticky.

Hope you're all doing ok. This is gonna be a tough 2 weeks.

Hi all, hope you don’t mind me joining in this thread.

My husband and I are currently having our first ICSI round this month of mild IVF, 2% morphology on his part and I also have endo. We had 7 eggs collected and 5 fertilised. We had our day 3 update yesterday and they were all ok, I’m going in for my day 5 fresh transfer tomorrow but wont know what we’re working with until we get there. Feeling positive but trying to stay realistic about our chances.

The progesterone is no joke though! My boobs are so sore and I’m extremely bloated though long walks seem to be helping…

@Phrenologistsfinger I’m sorry to hear your day 5 update wasn’t great. It’s such a lot to go through and all seems worse when you don’t get the results you were hoping for. Wishing you all the best with things.

@Lucy420 I’m having my transfer tomorrow so we can be TWW buddies if you like! Hope you’re doing ok so far.

Alexm06 · 13/12/2021 05:40

@Cayandsimit my clinic don't do blood tests so just have a home one to do which will be on Sunday. I'm busy this week with work and going to London so it should take my mind off it haha

Justhopeful · 13/12/2021 07:01

Hi @Cassia0101 good luck with your transfer. I should be having mine too, not been told what day. I have also just started to take progesterone yesterday after egg collection.

What are d side effects? You mentioned sore boobs and bloating.

Hope we all get some good news soon.

Phrenologistsfinger · 13/12/2021 11:14

Only the one embryo made it to day 5 out of 6 fertilised. Biopsied for PGTA. 1 in 3 chance that it will be usable.

I guess that means round two of stims, yay Hmm

Cassia0101 · 13/12/2021 14:47

@Justhopeful thanks so much, it was this morning and they said it went well. It was a 4BA, apparently the others are slower growing so might make it to freeze but won’t know until tomorrow. How are you feeling after egg collection?

For me the side effects of progesterone have been sore boobs, being very bloated and feeling ‘full’ very quickly when eating, and constipation, although it’s been 6 days now and actually the symptoms are definitely getting better, maybe I’m getting used to it.

@Phrenologistsfinger sorry to hear that - wishing your little embryo all the best, it only takes one!

Hi everyone!
How are you doing?

I did two pregnancy tests, thanks God both are negative (never imagined I would be happy for this! 😅). I feel much better. Scans showed that ovaries have shrunked a bit and I have much less free liquid in abdominal. However, my blood tests results are not great. Liver enzyme values are extremely high. Even higher than the night I spent at the hospital 🙄 They will do another test on Friday. Did you guys have/had liver problems after IVF?

Hi @Cayandsimit

Glad to hear you're feeling much better. Have they said why your results are so high?!

Doing ok here, got a call yesterday to say only 1 embryo made it to day 5 but was very good quality. Got to my ET appointment in the afternoon and it managed to go ahead as OHSS had gone down, but just before they put the blastocyst in, they said it was "fair" quality, which surprised me as I'd been told in the morning it was very good. Embryologist was unsure why I'd been told that but said it's definitely "fair" but not to be concerned, on the basis it's made it to day 5 it's good enough for transfer.

After they transferred, my clinic did this thing where they loudly announce successful transfer complete, and clapped - I literally burst out crying. Was so emotional. Now in the TWW!

How's everyone else getting on? X

Cayandsimit · 15/12/2021 11:27

@cherrytreecottage wow such a cheerful clinic 😅 Happy to hear that at least one made it to day 5. If I were you, I would not worry much about the quality. After all the things I heard and read, I realized that the grading could vary depending on the lab/embryologist. If it wasn't acceptable quality, they wouldn't have transfered it anyways. Enjoy being PUPO! Hopefully it is the one and we will finally read good news in this thread in December ❤️🍀🤞

@cherrytreecottage I literally burst out laughing 😂. The clapping. I wish that was the last step. I wish you all the best on your TWW. My transfer is on Friday, hopeful that it happens, as I am still a bit bloated from the collection.
@Cayandsimit glad you are feeling better.
I hope everyone is hanging in there.

Alexm06 · 16/12/2021 06:43

Soooo I caved in and tested early yesterday. It was on a strip test so yeah it looked positive but was very faint and could have easily been an evap line. So I thought I would test this morning and got the same again. I then moved onto the first response and thought no way those shitty tests were playing with me and well this came up! I'm still very cautious and I know how quick it can disappear and it will probably be me posting again in a few days saying it chemical but for now I'm trying to keep positive!

Omg congratulations!! I've got every faith that you'll simply be confirming to us in a couple of days that you're getting the same result! How far off the two weeks have you tested early? Xx

Cayandsimit · 16/12/2021 07:53

@Alexm06 I think that line is very promising. Congratulations 🎉❤️ Finally some good news on this thread! ☺️

@Justhopeful good luck on Friday 🍀🤞

@Alexm06 a big congratulations are in order❤️🥳🎈. This is very exciting news

1stcycler · 16/12/2021 10:51

@Alexm06 congratulations!! That is wonderful to see 🥰🥰.
Hope you don't mind me asking, how many days post transfer are you? I cannot see myself staying strong for the whole 11 day wait until OTD, but going to try and get to at least day 7 or 8 (I know am kidding myself! 😂)

I have my transfer this afternoon, I'm not sure how I feel about it to be honest, trying to stay busy and distracted with work.

I haven't kept up with everyones journey the past week or so, but I know it's been difficult and disappointing for some. I truly hope you're able to find positives or comfort in your current situations and keep the hope alive over Christmas and New Year.
The best advice I've been given though all of this is to not feel guilty in taking time to look after myself, even if others don't understand. Fresh start in 2022 for all of us! 😘😘

Good luck for the TWW for everyone else x

Lucy420 · 16/12/2021 11:20

How is everybody doing?

I am currently D5P3DT. I'm doing ok, trying to keep myself busy. I had bad cramps and bloating post transfer which has all settled. Just playing the waiting game now. I don't really have any symptoms. Good luck to everyone.

Alexm06 · 16/12/2021 12:21

@cherrytreecottage @1stcycler I'm currently 8dp5dt so I know a lot can still change. Just trying to remain a bit positive
Good luck with your transfer @1stcycler

cherrytreecottage · 20/12/2021 16:29

Hi @Alexm06 - how are you getting on? Is today official "test day"?

How is everyone else?

Phrenologistsfinger · 20/12/2021 19:16

Hi @cherrytreecottage thanks for asking. I am on my post-retrieval period/withdrawal bleed. Waiting on news of PGTA on our one embryo. Hoping to do another round in Jan if Dr agrees! See some of you on the next month’s chat Smile

Hopefully some of you will be successful, law of averages suggests it (crosses fingers). Daffodil

Alexm06 · 20/12/2021 21:22

@cherrytreecottage hey! Yesterday was OTD and I'm still getting strong lines just not really getting darker if they are by the tiniest bit. Had a blood test today but won't get the results back 2-3 days and then they cancelled my one for Wednesday as they will be closed when the results come in so I won't get them for 2 weeks. So yeah now I'm trying to find somewhere to get one done Wednesday Haha
How you getting on?

1stcycler · 21/12/2021 14:06

Good luck @Phrenologistsfinger! Hope you get positive results on that embryo and have a successful next round!

@Alexm06, so exciting about your BFP. Hope you don't mind me asking, are you doing HCG bloods for reassurance or as standard practice by your clinic?

Hope everyone is holding out ok with the waiting.

I'm 5dp5dt and literally feel nothing.

Extra Progesterone injections added in addition to the pessaries as my Progesterone level on the morning of transfer was just in the 'normal' range they want for a transfer.. they reference an academic paper where they've calculated what they consider to be the optimal minimum level for a successful transfer. Does anyone else clinic measure levels on the day of transfer?

On balance, I couldn't take the uncertainty that if this one didn't work, I could have done more but didn't.
But even with taking extra Progesterone I just feel normal, anyway, trying not to overthink.
Couple more days in work, trying to not catch COVID (it honestly feels like every other person I know has it, but I do live in London), plus then the saga of trying to hide I'm not drinking from my family should all be enough of a distraction! 😂

Good luck ladies 😘

Alexm06 · 21/12/2021 16:54

@1stcycler just for reassurance my clinic don't do it as standard but now I'm fighting with them to have a second one as they said they won't get the results by Friday if I have my second bloods tomorrow. They are saying I will have to wait 2 weeks till they open again to get the results so yeah I just feel like I've wasted my money on the test yesterday.
My clinic don't do any other tests just the basics so yeah I was planning on moving to another one anyways. When is your OTD?

Cassia0101 · 21/12/2021 17:59

Hi guys, sending lots of love and good thoughts to you all.

I am 8dp5dt and started spotting light pink blood last night then some red blood too today. I did a first response test today and it was BFN. I have had an awful week, horrible thrush from the pessaries, headaches, cramps and now a UTI as well so am on antibiotics for that. I get my blood test tomorrow so we can see but I suspect it’s going to be negative.

This is my first cycle but I honestly don’t think I have it in me to do this again. I have no frozen embryos so I would have to start right at the beginning again. I just feel so unwell and have been so sore too.

I am really feeling for you all and sending all my best wishes for you, this is just the pits and I feel so down today, but I know it’s not over until I get the result tomorrow.
