I know I'm a bit early but knowing that I get to start in January I think I'll go mad just twiddling my thumbs until then.

With Christmas clinic closures I think there's a fair few of us around waiting for Jan to start, so hopefully we can gather here for support in the mean time?

About me - 33 years old (although I turn 34 in Jan!), TTC#1 for two years with unexplained infertility. Am due to start my first ever round of IVF in January (NHS). I've been told I'll do short protocol and in terms of next steps I've got a trial embryo transfer in two weeks' time, and both OH and I have to get blood tests done in Dec. I can order my meds from the pharmacy in Dec as well so got that to look forward to ha.

I'm currently predicted to start my cycle on the 31st of Dec which would mean having to wait a whole cycle due to the new year bank holiday getting in the way. My cycle can vary by a few days though so I'm really hoping CD1 actually comes a day or two later!

@jazper that's what I'm assuming happens bc yeh you can still show for 90 days on a PCR . I assumed they would let me do a LFT instead ? I dont know. I'm going to start on 3rd Jan, hope and pray I've escaped it . My sisters husband is on day 9 and she's just got it. Which is what I mean by I have to the 11th really . That's assuming g they'd still see me based on a lft. All confussing stuff .

C1umsyGiraffe · 01/01/2022 12:51

Hi everyone - I posted a few weeks ago but got too busy, sorry!

They wanted to do another thyroid test (came back normal luckily) but that did mean the treatment was delayed a bit. Been taking microgynon since beginning of December and now on the week break. Haven't had anything about what to take next or any appointments yet so getting a bit nervous! Hopefully should hear soon.

Jazper · 01/01/2022 21:04

@Justawannabemam
All clinics are def different so can't speak for yours but I know mine would not see me on an LFT alone. Just keep LFT'ing and try with all your might to stay negative. Good luck!

Hi everyone!

I came here looking for this thread, thank you for starting it.

I'll be starting medications on 11th January for a FET which is planned for week commencing 21st February. Waiting to recieve my day to day guide from the clinic, but I'm assuming it's going to be long protocol from the dates. Just need to arrange medication delivery (which has been tricky due to the festive period) and we'll be good to go.

I'm one of the lucky ones in that I have a 20 month old son from a previous FET. I have a same sex partner and this isn't our first rodeo, we've had the following treatments before:
Medicated IUI - BFN
Medicated IUI - MMC
Medicated IUI - chemical
Fresh IVF - chemical/early miscarriage, 1 day 5 blastocyst frozen
Medicated FET - live birth
Freeze all IVF/ICSI cycle (my partner) - 4 blastocysts frozen
Freeze all ICSI cycle (me, while still breastfeeding) - 5 blastocysts frozen

We had a new clinic and a different protocol on our successful cycle and I have much more confidence in them than the previous one, so I'm feeling fairly optimistic despite my chequered reproductive history. We used donor sperm and purchased sibling sperm for the freeze all rounds, unfortunately it was such poor quality that we were advised to do ICSI. I'M 35 and my partner is 42. We'll be using one of her embryos for this attempt.

I'm feeling slightly nervous as my employer has announced that no new annual leave can be booked until mid February except in exceptional circumstances, I'm hoping my line manager doesn't make difficulties. Also if I get COVID at the wrong time the whole cycle will be scrapped but we're taking that risk as otherwise we might never get it done! We've already had to delay a couple of months as it took so long to get our consents finalised as our clinics administration is in a right state due to taking on too many additional patients since lockdown #1.

Appleby11 · 02/01/2022 11:52

Hello everyone. Can I ask if anyone has been in the position that they're in the NHS funded round of IVF, and have tested positive for covid? I'm due to start a FET on the 17th Jan, and am considering delaying it because I'm not sure what happens if you're mid way through things and then can't continue as you've got covid. Especially when it comes to any financial aspect?

Justawannabemam · 02/01/2022 13:32

@appleby11 at my clinic an egg collection is classed as a cycle. Not sure how it works with a FET.

Tbh I wouldnt delay because it could get worse . Hopefully this is a peak now because of people socialising over christmas.
Hope it goes well. I have the same fear . I'm still avoiding it at the min despite my boyfriend having it.

HJen22 · 02/01/2022 14:15

Hello ladies and happy 2022 💕

I'm a bit worried about Covid as well. We have our nurses app 11th January with Aberdeen clinic. Thankfully I've had my two vaccines and booster after their recent post!

Does everyone plan to isolate as much as possible? I'm going to ask the nurse what's best next week xx

Appleby11 · 02/01/2022 18:16

@justawannabemam thank you for replying. I watch this thread but haven't commented on it before. It's awful isn't it. Yet more stress for us to go through.

I think I'm going to ring my clinic and ask about the financial side and then have a think. I don't want to lose my place but although I can be careful, I can't see how my OH can avoid something as contagious as this variant while at work.

Justawannabemam · 02/01/2022 18:23

@Appleby11 it's so hard.

My supervisors has said I can work from home if needed. He was very understanding and said anything I want I can have.

I hope you get some answers from your clinic. I do t want to ring mine incase they tell me its cancelled. So I will carry on as normal until I hear otherwise x

AliAutumn · 02/01/2022 22:21

Hi @Appleby11. This happened to me in September. I caught covid the week before I was due embryo transfer - so frustrating and disappointing. But there's been no mention of any impact on funding from the clinic. We are going again this month, due to transfer next week hopefully. I'm getting so paranoid that the same thing will happen again this time especially since cases are so high right now. Fingers crossed.

Good luck everyone!

Positivity84 · 02/01/2022 22:29

Hi all, I have been looking for a thread like this and am really glad to have found this one!

My husband and I are starting ICSI this month, medication is being delivered on Wednesday. I'll be on norethistherone first to time my cycle then injections from 22nd, EC early Feb. It's a short protocol. I'm 38. After almost three years of trying, two losses, countless wasted pregnancy tests each month, then numerous tests with our clinic...I am so ready to start ICSI. However, I'm also worried about catching COVID so will be hibernating this month.

Looking forward to chatting as we go through our cycles x

Frenchiepupmama · 02/01/2022 23:36

Hello, hope its OK to join.😊

We have just started our first journey. Its been about 3 - 4 years or so ttc. We were just about to get investigations started on NHS when covid hit.

I'm 37 (soon to be 38 this month) and we decided to go private with GCRM in Glasgow. Started calls to enquire back in July 21. In Sept myself and my husband had all the tests done. Hubby is fine, my ovarian reserve is low 7.1.

We have been put on the short/flare protocol and I have just started taking Norethisterone 5mg x2 daily from 22nd Dec and Prostap injection should be mid Jan followed by Overleap and two scans/bloods booked in closer to end of January.
Don't really know what to expect, trying not to get too excited as I know it's a long road ahead. Just thought it would be helpful to share experiences and offer support.

Wishing you all the best of luck and baby dust ✨x

Coops0406 · 03/01/2022 09:02

Hi all! Happy new year, hope everyone is okay and looking forward to hopefully a great start to the year for everyone 😍.

I don't think I've been on for a few weeks as I always find the days on norithisterone painfully slow, full of bloating and moods and just want to hurry up to get to the injections! Thankfully, today is the last day of norithisterone and injections to start on the 9th! 😊
@Justawannabemam have you started today?
@Positivity84 welcome! Sorry to hear about your journey so far. When do you start on the norithisterone? Are you excited to get going?
@Frenchiepupmama how are you finding yourself on the norithisterone? When is your EC booked for?
I'm on my 3rd cycle, I was so excited for my first but they always say it's a bit of trial and error as they don't know how your body will respond, just how most people's do. So I can understand trying not to get too excited. We had a big fall from grace with a terrible first round but that was my body being super stubborn and for most people they do get the doses etc right. Unfortunately that was our only nhs round and we didn't get any additional embryos to freeze. Our second round was so much better with adjusted doses and we have 2 frozen euploid embryos (from 6 very good embryos)...we are doing a 3rd just to bank some more euploid embryos (I'm 40 this year so trying to future proof)
@tulipsandsnow I just read your post about your 2 normal PGT-A embryos not being graded very high, what does that mean? Does it mean they are less likely to work? I just presumed having euploid ones gives you a better chance of it taking but do they also have to take into account what it was graded at too? My clinic haven't told me anything apart from the were all graded very good but only 2 are euploid.

I look forward to hearing how everyone is progressing this January 😊 good luck 🤞🏾

Frenchiepupmama · 03/01/2022 09:17

@Coops0406 feel really bloated with the norethisterone. They haven't gave me a date for EC yet the last thing on my Calendar is internal scan on 21st and bloods and another on 24th Jan. (day after my birthday) hoping for good news that follicles will be be developing well by that stage. Just wanting to start the injections now. How are you doing?

Justawannabemam · 03/01/2022 09:23

@Coops0406 hey

Yeh I done my first one today I'm still testing negative for covid. I should be pleased but I know there's still a chance of positive. . The only positive test I dont want right ?!! Haha

Got scan on 25th then after that I'm going to try and work from home or work alone if I have to come in.

It's my 2nd cycle meds have been adjusted so here we go !!! I won't get excited as much it's a horrible crash, but I will remain positive.

Lots of luck ladies. X

Positivity84 · 03/01/2022 10:20

@Coops0406 @Frenchiepupmama I'm starting on the norethistherone on 8th Jan. Feeling a bit apprehensive of that because of the possible impact on my mood / bloating etc. That's also partly why I joined this, to keep my mood up. Fortunately I'm working from home at the moment and hope that continues for the next few weeks at least until after egg collection.

Frenchiepupmama · 03/01/2022 10:27

@Positivity84 hello, I felt first couple of days my mood was up and down on the tabs but seems to have settled. I just feel quite bloated now. I work in a hospital setting so this new varient is playing on my mind big time. My husband is a postman so he's out all day aswell. I just want to get to transfer date which I hope will mayb be end of Jan depending on how I get on with the meds. I really have no clue as all new aswell. Hope you are OK and hopefully you don't get many side effects from tabs. I'm glad I've joined this chat as I think it would be helpful to talk to people going through this journey x

PcosSOS · 03/01/2022 13:12

Hi all, Happy new year! Wishing everyone the best with their cycles and hoping we all stay COVID free!

I'm on day 3 of Gonal F tonight and already getting some mood swings (like pmt but for a much shorter, more intense bursts of time) anyone else had this?

buzbeee · 03/01/2022 13:24

Hi all, this is my first mumsnet post, Hope you don’t mind if I join?

I’m 34 and have a 17mo DD from our first fresh round of ICSI in 2019.

FET for sibling scheduled for February.

I can relate to what many of you say about the ttc journey. I thought my DD had cured me of the negativity, but the past few weeks, getting ready to do IVF again, I’ve found myself in a very dark place. It’s impacting on everyone in the family and I hate it.

Sending you all lots of love and baby dust for this next step in your journeys! Smile

Coops0406 · 03/01/2022 14:13

@Frenchiepupmama my first time on norithisterone I put on 3kg in 2 weeks 🤦🏾‍♀️ then a bit more last time and now I'm out of control! Very glad I only have one more tablet to take this evening!! It is so uncomfortable! What date will you start your injections?

@Justawannabemam haha! Yes, the only time in your life you don't want the 2 lines 🤣 hoping it stays that way for you on the covid front!
Yes, definitely always got to remain positive, it's such a rocky ride but we'll get there

@Positivity84 working from home would be great! I did it for my first full round of injections and it's just good sometimes to not have to put a lid on any moods or bite your tongue! 😂

@PcosSOS I've not had that drug before, how many more days have you got?

@buzbeee great news that you had a successful fresh transfer, keeps the hope up. Hopefully you can try to keep focussed on the positives and keep your mind in a good place 😊

Frenchiepupmama · 03/01/2022 14:20

@Coops0406 all I want to do is eat sweet things by the absolute ton 😂I should start on 16th Jan if I have bled once stop the tabs and then scan on 21st and bloods and then a 2nd scan on 24th jan. Guess it's just a waiting game to see how my body will take to the medication.

ExpatLivingLondon · 03/01/2022 14:24

@PcosSOS

Hi all, Happy new year! Wishing everyone the best with their cycles and hoping we all stay COVID free!

I'm on day 3 of Gonal F tonight and already getting some mood swings (like pmt but for a much shorter, more intense bursts of time) anyone else had this?

You're not alone. I'm preparing for an FET. I've been taking Zumenon since my period started and today started Lubion and Cyclogest.

I'm admittedly always a neurotic person but overall happy and pretty well-adjusted... These drugs as well as the IVF drugs make me feel mentally unbalanced and prone to mood swings. As someone who is generally consistent and positive, it's alarming and scary. Obviously, I think the mood disturbances are also partly attributed to coping with the situation, rather than entirely the drugs, but I don't think loads of synthetic estrogen and progesterone create a calm vibe.

Physically, I feel weird - queasy, foggy, etc. When I first started the Zumenon I got intense headaches. Drinking lots (I mean LOTS) of water seems to help a bit.

I'm a controlling person, not exactly a roll with it type, so feeling side effects that are new and unfamiliar is difficult for me, even though I was forewarned.

EasterBunny7 · 03/01/2022 20:05

Hello, again. January is here! Have a question for those of you who have vaccinated already. Did it affect your first period straight after? I've heard people say it delayed it by a week. Is that true? I'm due to start my FET in a couple of weeks and really hoping it won't get delayed as I just got vaccinated within this cycle.

Bec18x · 03/01/2022 20:10

Just caught up with everyone's posts over the last week. So I had covid before Christmas and was told I can't do another PCR test for 90days as it can still show positive. I had my baseline scan today and nurse appointment to get my treatment plan and I start stims tonight!
She said I needed a PCR test on day 6 of my cycle but I said I had covid beginning of December so it can stay positive for 90days. She checked with someone else and said as long as it's been 28days since my positive result by egg collection then that's fine to go ahead with it and just do a lateral flow test. It's strange how clinics are different with covid.
My egg collection should be the 14th January if everything goes to plan!

ExpatLivingLondon · 03/01/2022 20:24

I never had the vax or booster change my period. All stayed the same. I had Pfizer for all three.
