I know I'm a bit early but knowing that I get to start in January I think I'll go mad just twiddling my thumbs until then.

With Christmas clinic closures I think there's a fair few of us around waiting for Jan to start, so hopefully we can gather here for support in the mean time?

About me - 33 years old (although I turn 34 in Jan!), TTC#1 for two years with unexplained infertility. Am due to start my first ever round of IVF in January (NHS). I've been told I'll do short protocol and in terms of next steps I've got a trial embryo transfer in two weeks' time, and both OH and I have to get blood tests done in Dec. I can order my meds from the pharmacy in Dec as well so got that to look forward to ha.

I'm currently predicted to start my cycle on the 31st of Dec which would mean having to wait a whole cycle due to the new year bank holiday getting in the way. My cycle can vary by a few days though so I'm really hoping CD1 actually comes a day or two later!

Hi @Hopeful199 We had our nurse appointment this week and I have baseline next week. So far I can't fault them to be honest, the staff are really friendly and everything has been super quick.

I'll send you a message with more details if that's ok but all positive so far! I'm just keeping everything crossed that they can stay open as it's so tricky for me to rearrange to wfh and I travel for work a lot which is tricky with scans etc.

Justawannabemam · 17/12/2021 19:40

I've been on burselin before and had a bleed. Mine was like a period . Maybe not as heavy . But tbh the heavier the better I would think. So that your lining sheds and is nice and thin to go on stims.

At my meeting we discussed Covid. And it's really dodgy ground . As in if I catch covid before egg collection it'll be cancelled. After egg collection before transfer. It'll be cancelled. If they are good enough to freeze they will but no guarantees. I'm going to ask at work if I can wfh after trigger shot up to transfer day. I've to have a test before my scan before trigger is given x it'll literally be housebound . And my boyfriend can Naff off if he thinks his going the pub! Haha

Hopeful199 · 17/12/2021 19:47

@PcosSOS of course! Would be great to message and have some moral support.

I really think they will try and avoid closure. As @Justawannabemam says, I am more worried about randomly testing positive and then treatment being delayed or cancelled! I am racing towards my 40th and don’t want to delay any more!!

Glad you have had a good experience so far. I have found the admin and bookings and bit bitty, but I think that is maybe because I was referred from the gynae consultant to the satellite so didn’t go in the normal way. We went for blood tests this week though and it was all a really positive experience.

Fingers crossed it continues!

Hey, hoping to join in the chats Smile. Little about me, I’m 34, fell pregnant very soon after coming off the pill but it sadly ended in a missed miscarriage in dec 2019. Doctors couldn’t understand why there hasn’t been anything since until they realised I now have low ovarian reserve with very little follicles. My chances are slim and don’t meet the criteria/nice guidelines for nhs funded ivf but my doctor is willing to give me a shot with the short protocol, start injecting on my feb cycle with a rough egg collection date on 21st feb.
Excited but also scared as this maybe my only try if I don’t respond as planned. X

Gracie2021 · 21/12/2021 08:36

Hi all,

Just found this thread and hoping I can join. I'm currently on my 7th TSI and am booked in for IVF at end Jan. No details about protocols or anything yet but I'm currently on baby aspirin and prednisolone for autoimmune.

We've been trying since August 2020 and are unexplained. I'm in the bottom 20% AMH for my age and my AFC never tops about total 7 but other than that and my autoimmune no issues (besides the obvious never getting a second line). Doing one more TSI in January just to make up the time but I'm basically hanging in there for IVF now. Also doing acupuncture weekly and taking a raft of supplements and that's about it.

thislittlebird · 21/12/2021 11:52

Hello over here too @Gracie2021!

I got an email from my clinic saying treatments are going ahead as planned and asking me to take LFTs, avoid large gatherings etc. Happy with that, sensible advice and not bad news.

Gracie2021 · 21/12/2021 14:29

Fantastic news @thislittlebird that will be a weight off.

PcosSOS · 21/12/2021 14:47

@thislittlebird that’s great news! My heart sunk when I saw guys in the news this week so that must have been a relief! I had my baseline scan yesterday and Kings have also requested lateral flows before each appointment. They said they have to be scanned and registered on Gov website as photos won’t do - just a heads up if Guys are doing this too. X

thislittlebird · 21/12/2021 14:58

@PcosSOS good to know, they haven’t said anything yet but my appointment isn’t until the 26th Jan or bit earlier so I suspect it will be similar. What were they in the news for? My acupuncturist had her routine op cancelled/pushed back. I was worried I won’t lie.

PcosSOS · 21/12/2021 15:17

@thislittlebird exactly that, cancelling routine operations and redirecting staff to ICU/A&E. I think all the clinics will try as hard as they can to stay open this time round

Janefx40 · 21/12/2021 15:57

Hi everyone. Can I join? Due to start an FET at the end of the month. We have a DD already from our second round of ICSI and have since had an FET (mmc 9 weeks) and done 3 rounds of embryo banking with PGS testing. We have 2 euploids in the freezer for transfer.

@Bec18x I'm also at CRGH and trying desperately to time this cycle so it comes at the right time to start early Jan

X

Janefx40 · 21/12/2021 15:59

@thislittlebird so glad your clinic is still open. I've been worrying that ours will close before we can start. Feels like we've been waiting so long for this transfer!

Bec18x · 21/12/2021 16:04

@Janefx40 my norethisterone stops on 28th so hoping to start Jan also but I'll be doing a full cycle. I've been so worried about the clinic closing if we go into lockdown and I've got covid at the moment but luckily it will be 3 weeks by the time my period starts. I was worried about it causing a delay but I've read all the forms and information about covid and it doesn't mention that you can't start if you've had covid in the last 90days. Good luck with your FET! X

Janefx40 · 21/12/2021 17:18

@Bec18x sorry you've got Covid but great that it's going to be out of the way. I feel nervous about them closing too. I was at ARGC before and they'd basically do IVF in a nuclear bunker but not so sure about CRGH!

BlessedDolphin · 23/12/2021 04:16

Hi all,

Hoping to join in too. I'm 22 and been trying for almost 6 years (I knew it was going to take a while so started trying young). I have PCOS and have had 2 mc's. I start norethisterone today with a transfer planned on 24th Jan :) I hope you're all doing well and have a lovely Christmas!

Hopeful199 · 23/12/2021 09:03

Thanks for the heads up on lateral flows at kings @PcosSOS

I am here for my baseline today….. feeling super nervous! I didn’t have any NHS ones but they haven’t asked for proof yet (I only have a photos) but have ordered NHS ones for the rest of my appointments to be safe!

Had the nurse consultation and they said that I could actually get going this cycle….. all a bit of a shock but if I can get the meds and consent sorted then actually means I can start injections this weekend….. feels scared, nervous and excited all at once!!!!

Justawannabemam · 23/12/2021 09:23

@Hopeful199 thats great. Get a pre paid prescription Coa they all mount up.

Happy Christmas every one . I'm clocking off for a few days .x

Coops0406 · 23/12/2021 09:26

@Bec18x I hope you aren't too ill with covid. Fingers crossed you are good to go for jan 🤞🏾

@BlessedDolphin I'm on day 4 of norithisterone, looking at EC on 19th jan but no transfer this time. When do you start your injections?

PcosSOS · 23/12/2021 09:31

@Hopeful199 amazing! You should get an email from stork and then you can select a day to get the medication sent. I had my baseline on Monday and starting meds in the new year. Did they ask about lateral flows today?

BlessedDolphin · 23/12/2021 09:38

@Coops0406 I start injections on the 6th with EC planned for the 19th too :)

Hopeful199 · 23/12/2021 09:39

@PcosSOS now they haven’t mentioned anything?! Just asked if I had symptoms and made to change my mask.

Feels a little overwhelming tbh but am relieved to get going. I assumed I would start next cycle….. we haven’t even abstained (although the chance is SO remote that I don’t think it’s an issue)

They are getting me a pharmacy prescription now for the buseralin and then said they would sort the rest next week ready to starts stims in the new year…. Can’t believe this is actually happening!

PcosSOS · 23/12/2021 10:23

@Hopeful199 Ahhh exciting! It's crazy how quick it comes around once you're in the system isn't it? Are you doing long protocol? I start stims first week of Jan. I think after all the time trying you just expect hurdles at every step and when there aren't any it's almost more worrying as you start to question it more haha

Hopeful199 · 23/12/2021 10:33

@PcosSOS I kept feeling like there must be more for me to know as they packed me off with a bunch of needles Confused

Yes I am long protocol so starting the down reg tomorrow and the stims also at the beginning of January. Feel like I can relax more over Christmas now knowing that things are underway! It’s just taken me by surprise…. But in a good way. I just can’t handle the waiting!

Janefx40 · 23/12/2021 11:11

@Hopeful199 that's really exciting. Best of luck. Is this your first cycle? You'll soon get used to injections if so. Sit down when you do them and breathe out. It makes a difference.

@Bec18x I just spoke to CRGH (they needed to pay ME £300 - not often that happens!!) and confirmed they are open and operating as normal. They've got all but essential staff working from home to minimise contact so 🤞🏼 we both get to start in Jan.

@BlessedDolphin welcome. I'm new to this thread too but not new to IVF. Sorry for your losses xxx

Hopeful199 · 23/12/2021 11:42

Yes welcome @BlessedDolphin - sounds like you have been through a lot already. Fingers crossed for you this time.

@Janefx40 yes my first round. I do have 2 DCs but the was diagnosed with Endo after 3 years of trying for number 3. Feels surreal to be in this position but know I will never forgive myself if I don’t try and IVF really is my only option at this stage. How about you?
