I know I'm a bit early but knowing that I get to start in January I think I'll go mad just twiddling my thumbs until then.

With Christmas clinic closures I think there's a fair few of us around waiting for Jan to start, so hopefully we can gather here for support in the mean time?

About me - 33 years old (although I turn 34 in Jan!), TTC#1 for two years with unexplained infertility. Am due to start my first ever round of IVF in January (NHS). I've been told I'll do short protocol and in terms of next steps I've got a trial embryo transfer in two weeks' time, and both OH and I have to get blood tests done in Dec. I can order my meds from the pharmacy in Dec as well so got that to look forward to ha.

I'm currently predicted to start my cycle on the 31st of Dec which would mean having to wait a whole cycle due to the new year bank holiday getting in the way. My cycle can vary by a few days though so I'm really hoping CD1 actually comes a day or two later!

@Hopeful199 Thank you, i just did it, it went OK, one in each leg and there was no leakage or anything. Phew

Frenchiepupmama · 24/01/2022 21:13

I'm going to ask a really silly question...

Do you always need progesterone after ET?

As you can tell i have no clue... My clinic haven't prescribed anything yet (mayb I am thinking too far ahead).

(I really don't want to do pessaries as embarrassing as it is I suffer bouts of Vaginismus and il get more stressed with that.) I read you can do IM injections of it but not particularly comfy but I rather do that.

Frenchiepupmama · 24/01/2022 21:17

@Cayandsimit hello, good luck with scan tomorrow. I have EC on Thurs and if all going well 🤞 possible ET probably next week.

Coops0406 · 24/01/2022 21:22

@Aimz40 glad the trigger went well! Good luck for EC

@Frenchiepupmama you usually take progesterone from the day after EC in the evening (if you are having a fresh transfer) from what I know. A lot of consultants prefer you to use the ones that go up the back way until ET as it's less messy. My friend said she always did them the back way too as she thought it was easier and less messy...I have yet to brave it!

Janefx40 · 24/01/2022 21:23

Hi everyone. I've not posted on here for a while but been following and wishing you all well on your different journeys.

@Frenchiepupmama no need to be embarrassed about vaginismus. I definitely think you should talk to them about it and explain. I have always taken cyclogest rectally. 2 out of 3 of my clinics have insisted and I prefer it because it's less messy. It takes a small amount of getting used to and I have tended to use a glove! But it is more comfy for me.

If that doesn't work for you there are two types of injectibles - intra-muscular (once a day and cheaper but ouch) and subcutaneous (at least twice a day, less painful but very expensive. £8 per vial is the best price I've found). I should say though that my clinics have prescribed that alongside cyclogest rather than instead of.

Yes you have to have progesterone in a fresh cycle and a medicated FET because the medication will have prevented your body from producing it in the luteal phase.

dragonleo · 24/01/2022 21:24

@Bluehawaii29 sorry your first cycle didn't work out. Fingers crossed for the double transfer next month. I did transfer sat just gone so 2 days post now. It's a long wait! Plenty of time to google away the hours about the benefits of aspirin 🙄

Aimz40 · 24/01/2022 21:31

@Coops0406 Thank you, I'm going to try to relax now until weds and look forward to the sedation.

@Frenchiepupmama I also take the cyclogest rectally because I can suffer with bv, I defo don't want that whilst trying to get pregnant, it's not too bad administering it once you get used to it.
I've also got lubion injections this cycle as I have bled before I've got to the pregnancy test both cycles. My consultant said that people's periods are usually late even if they aren't pregnant due to the progesterone, so I've got double the dose.

Cayandsimit · 24/01/2022 21:33

@Frenchiepupmama thank you!

Yes, you almost always need progesterone. I am going to use both pessaries and injections this time because I pushed for it. Injections in the morning and pessaries in the evening. Otherwise they prescribe only pessaries which is most of the time is not enough. Also just injection is not enough either.
I am still not fully comfortable with vaginal scans, smear tests also hurt like hell. Therefore, I thought I wouldn't be comfortable with the pessaries but after few rounds you get used to it. After a certain point somehow it gets sucked in 😅 If you survive pap-smear, you will survive this believe me ☺️ Good luck with the EC! 🍀

Frenchiepupmama · 24/01/2022 21:34

@Coops0406 thanks. I don't think il brave that either. Will email clinic and see they haven't mention it yet at all.
@Janefx40 thanks I do get embarrassed admitting it, it's completely outwith my control, muscles just tighten up. Will contact clinic tomorrow as it weighing heavy on my mind. I did mention on one of the online forms for the clinic I would struggle with pessaries ect and mentioned the Vaginismus but it's never came up in conversation.

Frenchiepupmama · 24/01/2022 21:37

@Cayandsimit I feel exactly the same with everything you have said from the scans to the smears (omg😱) really appreciate your message aswell. Thank you. ✨

Bluehawaii29 · 24/01/2022 21:52

@dragonleo aww good luck with this cycle! Yeah the 2ww was horrible last time! Not looking forward to it again. Google was my biggest enemy so will have to distract myself to the max this time. Thanks for your wishes xx

Cayandsimit · 25/01/2022 07:25

Hi,
Just came back from the scan. It is d10 of my cycle. Uterus lining is 4.4mm, leading follicle is 9mm on the right side. There are others varying 6-8mm. Is it bad? I have 30-31 days cycle. I compared it to the measurements of my last frozen transfer from July 21 (Day 11) and that was about the same. Needless to say that one failed :( I am really scared that this will be the same...

Vslightlystressy · 25/01/2022 07:31

Today is my embryo transfer day - find out the grading and see whether any have made it - there were seven eggs - all of which fertilised so hope the lucky streak continues. Seems very strange to finally of got to this point - just hope all is well. Have been on oestrogen tablets and progesterone pessaries (three a day which seem more than some of you) - have been feeling pretty ropey, but they seem happy that I am as ready as possible…

Fingers crossed for everyone else having scans, egg collections or transfers today.

Bec18x · 25/01/2022 07:52

Good luck to everyone with egg collection and transfers over the next few days.

I'm 4dp5dt today and caved and tested and I've got a faint positive! I will test again Friday to make sure it's getting darker but I couldn't believe it, it's the first time I've ever seen 2 lines in the 4years we have been trying!

Dobcaty · 25/01/2022 08:11

@Cayandsimit I’m not expert on FET cycles but didn’t want to read and run. My advice would be that please remember every cycle is different, you’re still in the first phase, everything can change. Make sure you drink enough water and your diet focusing on high protein low carb. I have everything crossed for you! 🤞

@Vslightlystressy good luck with your transfer today, let us know how it went! 😘

@Bec18x congratulations! 🥳 Hope your line progress in the next couple of days. 🤞 When is your OTD? Now I want to test lol…I hope I can stay away from the tests until Thursday/Friday, my OTD is next Monday. But! We’ve got some brilliant news yesterday, DH got his dream job, he is over the moon atm. Hoping other news in a few days time takes him to the Mars 🙃

Bec18x · 25/01/2022 08:15

@Dobcaty OTD isn't until 4th Feb! I was adamant I was going to wait until then but I just had to test 😅

Bluehawaii29 · 25/01/2022 08:29

Heyy @bex18x that’s great news. Did you say your OTD is 4th feb? It’s nice seeing the two lines, I didn’t want to test early on my last cycle as I remember that happening after IUI with clomid but it ended up being the trigger shot. Maybe don’t test now till week of OTD just to be safe or you might get too stressed. Congrats on your DH news! hope it continues to stay positive x

womaninkent · 25/01/2022 08:39

@Bec18x that sounds promising. Fingers crossed for you.
@Vslightlystressy good luck for the transfer
@Cayandsimit I'm a bit confused-on my frozen transfer they didn't measure the follicles as the meds are supposed to stop you ovulating.

Bec18x · 25/01/2022 08:41

@Bluehawaii29 I didn't have a hcg trigger as I was high risk for OHSS so has buserelin. But I'm going to give it a few more days. I know I won't be able to hold out until 5th Feb now 🙈

Dobcaty · 25/01/2022 09:32

@Bec18x 4th Feb wow, probably I couldn't wait either and FYI just bought a frer on Amazon 😂 so I will be testing Thursday morning OMG

PcosSOS · 25/01/2022 09:48

@Bec18x Ahh how exciting! My 0TD is the same as @Dobcaty and I have to say you guys are doing nothing for my 'no tests till 0TD' resolve haha! I might test on Thursday morning too, as that will be 2 weeks since my trigger. I'm so scared of getting my hopes up with the test just reading the trigger though.

Bluehawaii29 · 25/01/2022 10:02

Has anyone got experience of jury service as I am quite upset this morning. Initially I applied for deferral last year as was undergoing fertility treatment and didn’t want it delaying me. Now a year on we are still not pregnant and I wrote a lengthy email about how my anxiety is really bad and all that I’ve been through the past year including my abnormal biopsy lining and polypectomy/ failed ivf cycle and they just wrote back today to say I’m only allowed one deferral by law and if I appeal then have to email the head to ask for excusal which I’ve now done

Dobcaty · 25/01/2022 11:22

@PcosSOS last time when I got HCG trigger for my last IUI, I tested out and it was negative by end of the 10 days.
I didn't test out this time, but if I go with my calculation it should be out last Saturday, given/taken 2 days, so I think by Thursday morning I probably be safe w the result. But to be honest, I don't have any symptoms other than being sooooo emotional: crying and angry and then suddenly so happy within half an hour, but I know it can be all the three; the progresterone, af or pg...It's getting so nerve wrecking now 😅

Newbee33 · 25/01/2022 12:34

I was told to get a digital clear blue test but the way you guys say about faint lines etc am starting to think maybe a line one would be best as wouldn’t want to stop progesterone on the slight chance there may be a faint positive. I have never even got to the point of taking a test.
@Cayandsimit Have they upped your dose at all? How many more days have they suggested stims for?
@Bec18x Congratulations, fingers crossed for you.
X

Vslightlystressy · 25/01/2022 12:40

Transfer done - one 5AA - the others are still developing so hopefully we will have some to freeze as well. It was very surreal- very quick but did hurt a little. Just need to wait until the 5th to test (they really stressed not to test early) - going to be a very long ten days!
