I know I'm a bit early but knowing that I get to start in January I think I'll go mad just twiddling my thumbs until then.

With Christmas clinic closures I think there's a fair few of us around waiting for Jan to start, so hopefully we can gather here for support in the mean time?

About me - 33 years old (although I turn 34 in Jan!), TTC#1 for two years with unexplained infertility. Am due to start my first ever round of IVF in January (NHS). I've been told I'll do short protocol and in terms of next steps I've got a trial embryo transfer in two weeks' time, and both OH and I have to get blood tests done in Dec. I can order my meds from the pharmacy in Dec as well so got that to look forward to ha.

I'm currently predicted to start my cycle on the 31st of Dec which would mean having to wait a whole cycle due to the new year bank holiday getting in the way. My cycle can vary by a few days though so I'm really hoping CD1 actually comes a day or two later!

Bitch thing* it should have said! Damn MN and the inability to edit.

I do wish you ladies allll of the luck and really hope the meds don't kick your butts too much.

Congratulations @Juno231 so lovely to hear of a positive outcome and thanks for starting the thread.

@Newbee33 that sounds promising. The 2WW gets hard towards the end but the first few days is usually ok! Mind you, I'm already driving myself nuts, convinced I can feel stuff and haven't even had my transfer yet !

@Bluebonnet3 that sounds like a great plan! Glad you are feeling clearer.

Xxx

Dobcaty · 13/01/2022 15:57

@Juno231 massive congratulations! 🥳

Frenchiepupmama · 13/01/2022 16:09

@Bluebonnet3 that's fantastic. Wishing all the best ✨

Frenchiepupmama · 13/01/2022 16:12

Too much information in advance.... Soo have finally had the TINIEST amount of spotting since coming off norethisterone.... Lol would that count of have to be full bleed.... I've got tonight and tomorrow during the day so fingers crossed more flow.

NaomiNatNat · 13/01/2022 16:33

Congrats those with good news! 🥳
So, starting Bureselin tomorrow. Dreading the needles. Has anyone had an early bleed at suppression phase and how long it lasts?

Dobcaty · 13/01/2022 17:09

@NaomiNatNat I was so afraid of doing the injections every day as I have a needle phobia, but honestly its nothing. I don't have much fat on me so I did in my thighs instead of the belly area, and I was sitting on a stool as if you're sitting on a lower chair, it gives better chance to see where are the muscles and where are the fats area, if makes sense.

Question for those who already had their EC. Did you notice cm changes between last scan and EC? I think I have less then Tuesday...

Mochii · 13/01/2022 17:23

I’m really struggling to get any useful information from the clinic with so I’m hoping someone here can help!

I am planning on a FET next cycle but the clinic won’t fit me in for this one, so have to wait until February. If day 1 of my cycle is 18th Feb and I have a 6 day blastocyst transferred, when would I count pregnancy from if it’s successful? Would it be from day 1 or the transfer date? Roughly how far into the cycle is the transfer?

I am getting married in May (abroad) which is why I’m trying to work out timings

Janefx40 · 13/01/2022 18:10

@Mochii congrats on the wedding! Day 1 is often calculated form the first day of your period but that is based on a 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14. So your day 1 on a FET is 20 days before your day 6 embryo transfer which might not be quite the same. When you transfer depends on whether you are doing a medicated or non-medicated cycle.

Mine is natural FET and my transfer (day 5) has fallen on cycle day 18 this time. It was cycle day 19 last time.

Hope that is helpful. Maybe someone who has done a medicated FET can tell you likely days for that x

Mochii · 13/01/2022 18:18

Thanks @Janefx40 that’s really helpful. Gives me hope that I might be able to squeeze everything in rather than wait until later in the year!

Frenchiepupmama · 13/01/2022 18:26

@Juno231 aww amazing news!!! Thank you aswell for starting this post. Xx

NaomiNatNat · 13/01/2022 18:31

@Gracie2021 @Janefx40

Fyi I asked my nurse about dhea today. She said it's not ok to take it during ivf as they may have to cancel it! But apparently some clinics encourage patients to take it 🤷🏼‍♀️

Yuliaaa · 13/01/2022 19:35

Hi Mochii,

If you are having an medicated FET with estrogen pills/patches, then the transfer day depends on the size of the lining. Sometimes during medicated cycles it takes more time for the lining to grow than during a natural cycle. In my case, they transferred a 5 day embryo on day 24 which was way more later than DPO+5 just because of a stubborn lining.
Hope this helps!

connal · 13/01/2022 19:59

@NaomiNatNat I was on Buserelin and I got a bleed for 3 days, it was a lighter period than what I normally was used too but was more painful, no idea how that works! I had a needle phobia and I found the injections not too bad once you got used to it!

connal · 13/01/2022 20:02

Hey all 😊

I had my ER today, I got 6, one from my right and 5 from my left but two were growing too fast so they've said they likely won't get used at all. I'm having a fresh ICSI transfer. I'm nervous because I've read that frozen is better but after speaking with the Dr about it today, she said that there's only a 1% difference. Does anyone know how accurate that actually is?
I feel very deflated with this round, it's my first and at the beginning I got told that because of my age and health that I'd probably get 10+, I'm definitely happy with what I got but now I'm just worrying!

tulipsandsnow · 13/01/2022 20:29

@Coops0406 No ohss at all last time- only 6 follicles and normal E2 levels. Sadly it will be the same length of stay I think- have to be there like 6:30am to get all processed and checked in, its a bigger deal because go under general, so last time stayed as late at the hospital as could to recover from general and rest before the commute home.

About to take dual trigger (last time only had hcg) and finalised for Saturday. They had me skip my final dose of gonal f tonight (which they didn't do last cycle) because my E2 was just under 10,000. Anyone else ever been told to skip their last dose stims because of final days' blood results?

tulipsandsnow · 13/01/2022 20:37

Hi @connal :)
do you mind me asking what age you are that they predicted 10+? what protocol were you on? x

BlueSilver23 · 13/01/2022 20:42

@tulipsandsnow Yes this happened to me on my last EC. Got a call after blood test to say don’t take the final dose of stims that night as levels were getting too high (I’m assuming it was E2!). Didn’t affect EC as far as I know

connal · 13/01/2022 20:43

@tulipsandsnow

Hi *@connal* :) do you mind me asking what age you are that they predicted 10+? what protocol were you on? x
No problem ☺️ I'm 28, I was on Buserelin at 250 for 18 days and Gonal, I started on 250 for 6 days and then they upped the dose to 300 for the remainder of the time. I triggered with Ovitrelle at 250. I think they were trying to predict it since it was a MFI but after starting the first lot of injections my AMH level was lower than they anticipated so that's why they put it up.
Autumn245 · 13/01/2022 21:13

@Mochii ive found this site useful for calculating due dates for IVF. It doesn't have a 6 day blast as an option just 3 or 5 but I'd imagine you would just take away a day from the 5day calculations to get your due date. flo.health/tools/ivf-due-date-calculator

Bluehawaii29 · 13/01/2022 22:40

Hi everyone, I am just joining this thread as I have a frozen transfer scheduled for mid feb for 2 embryos as our first fresh ICSI cycle failed but we managed to get 4 frozen ones. Am excited about going again but also nervous. Needed to join for some support

Bluehawaii29 · 13/01/2022 22:44

Just to add I’m doing a medicated FET with estrogen pills and just first 7 days of femadryl injections but am confused now why did they tell me to do medicated. I never asked about natural, wasn’t given that option? Is there a reason why they choose medicated cycles for a FET

Janefx40 · 13/01/2022 23:38

@Bluehawaii29 welcome to the thread. Most clinics do medicated FET as it's easier to be in control of everything that way. I'm doing natural because I wanted to, I've done it before and my cycles are very regular with no lining issues. It's definitely not the norm tho!

Coops0406 · 14/01/2022 06:44

@Frenchiepupmama sometimes the stress of us wanting AF to come delays it a bit. I think they are wanting flow rather than spotting...any luck?

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 why won't they do any tests? Definitely have a read on that thread then speak to them about it, by the sounds of it you would benefit from them.

@Bluebonnet3 keeping everything crossed for you 6 to make it to day 5 🤞🏾🤞🏾🤞🏾

@Newbee33 great news!! Good luck for Saturday!

@Juno231 oh my gosh! Fantastic news!!! You must be over the moon! Wishing you all the best...this gives so much hope to so many 😊

@connal sound like a really positive ER. How old are you? I think you have a great number and remember it's quality over quantity. My first round they told me I'd get loads, he described how it would feel with say 20 eggs all around 2cm in there so in my head I was gonna have loads and have OHSS! I felt nothing of the sort and only got 2 eggs so it was massive crash down to earth. Sometimes I wish they didn't say what they expect you'll get as it's just an extra worry! It only takes 1 and you have more than that so think positive 🥰
I'm not really sure about the difference with fresh/frozen but

Frenchiepupmama · 14/01/2022 06:49

@Coops0406 hey, I went to bed feel really down about it and then woke up 230am with the worst cramp and hurrah!, it has arrived! Will be able to do my injection later in the evening after work. I was convinced it wasnt going to arrive in time. Think I was just really frustrated cos I am like clockwork and was starting to think my body taking a hissy fit over the norethisterone 😩😂 hope your Friday goes OK and thanks for messaging
