I know I'm a bit early but knowing that I get to start in January I think I'll go mad just twiddling my thumbs until then.

With Christmas clinic closures I think there's a fair few of us around waiting for Jan to start, so hopefully we can gather here for support in the mean time?

About me - 33 years old (although I turn 34 in Jan!), TTC#1 for two years with unexplained infertility. Am due to start my first ever round of IVF in January (NHS). I've been told I'll do short protocol and in terms of next steps I've got a trial embryo transfer in two weeks' time, and both OH and I have to get blood tests done in Dec. I can order my meds from the pharmacy in Dec as well so got that to look forward to ha.

I'm currently predicted to start my cycle on the 31st of Dec which would mean having to wait a whole cycle due to the new year bank holiday getting in the way. My cycle can vary by a few days though so I'm really hoping CD1 actually comes a day or two later!

@Bluebonnet3

Thank you for the comprehensive information on your rounds, it's very helpful. I forget about things like: not even buserelin can control exactly what day your period / withdrawal bleed will arrive. I keep trying to predict to a T what day embryo transfer would fall on but I suppose I should relax a little Confused.

Jennie154 · 05/01/2022 17:25

What dosage of Gonal F are people on and does anyone have any side effects?

Appleby11 · 05/01/2022 17:35

@Jennie154 I was on 150 when I started my fresh round. Which was reduced before I even started it from 225. But didn't notice any side effects from any of the meds.

thislittlebird · 05/01/2022 17:37

@Jennie154 I’ll be on 150 gonal f later this month.

tulipsandsnow · 06/01/2022 01:10

Had my baseline scan today for second round of egg collection! The highest AFC so far, 7 + 9 so 16. I think in past AFC I had for IUI was 13 or 10. AMH is 10/11.
As the nurse pointed out, more follicles are in theory good, but in practice I could easily have worse outcomes this cycle than last even with a higher starting AFC. Cycles can vary so much and its all a role of the dice. After allowing myself to get my hopes up along the way, then always getting bad news after good, this cycle I am doing a 'no positivity' rule. I'm not going to get hopeful or optimistic about anything, I also want focus on the negative, I'm simply going to do the cycle and try to keep my emotions detached.

Anyone else on a similar timeline that will result in egg collection in mid January?

Last time I started at 225 gonal f, this time starting at 300. Because this cycle I am going to use the overfill in the pens, it means I have to stab myself twice to get my nightly dose of gonal instead of once. When add antagonist, it'll be three stabs per night! Joy!

tulipsandsnow · 06/01/2022 01:11

**Last post was meant to say I also WON'T focus on negative

Justawannabemam · 06/01/2022 01:36

@Jennie154 you know you can self cert for 28 days now. Without a drs note. X

Jennie154 · 06/01/2022 07:29

@Justawannabemam thanks I didn’t know that. That takes a bit of pressure off. With my GP surgery it can be a nightmare to get an appointment. However, my work have been amazing. We have been very open with them about our infertility journey (we both work at the same place)

@tulipsandsnow I should be ready for egg collection around the middle of the month.
I am also on 300 Gonal F

ExhaustedPigeon1988 · 06/01/2022 09:56

Hi guys, hope you don't mind me joining, recognise a few of you from previous cycles.... sorry you are having to face another! Hope everyone is staying well, and the start of a fresh year has been good to you so far.

Where I'm at- After my first egg collection in august with a complete failed transfer, I went in to have a double frozen transfer 29th November, both took, but after some bleeding a miscarriage was confirmed right before Christmas. I have managed to get another cycle booked and I will ok be starting day 2 of my next period... just a waiting game now, meds arrived yesterday, so feeling extra impatient now!

Gracie2021 · 06/01/2022 10:17

@ExhaustedPigeon1988 I'm so sorry for your loss, sounds like you've been properly through the wringer. Best of luck to you this round xx

I haven't been here in a while basically as I haven't had any update. Just been working my way through my last TSI's and waiting on IVF. Booked to start on CD1 which should be 30 January so egg collection hopefully mid Feb and just got my protocol.

Gonal F 450sc and Luveris 225iu for stims, certrotide to delay O, ovitrelle trigger, buserelin to stop eggs releasing, solpadol (pain relief?), antibiotic and paracetamol for egg collection, lubion and crinone for progesterone support and they've upped my prednisolone to 10mg. Can you tell I've just been googling to see what they all do 😂🙈 just can't wait to get started now as I'm on my 8th TSI and so sick of that phase of things.

ExhaustedPigeon1988 · 06/01/2022 10:36

@Gracie2021 is this your first treatment? Wow sounds like a lot of drugs going in there, most were the same as mine, although you do have a few extra too :) wishing you loads of luck with this cycle x

Gracie2021 · 06/01/2022 11:48

I'm currently on my 8th TSI so actually beyond ready to move to IVF but it's first round of IVF yes. I have some additional steroids and baby aspirin on mine to tackle some immune issues so that might be the few extras.

Will it be long to CD1 for you or any day now? The waiting is tough.

ExhaustedPigeon1988 · 06/01/2022 12:43

@Gracie2021 I asked for steroids, but was told due to covid nowhere in the uk is allowed to use them. I also have baby aspirin, and fragmin. As my last bleed was the miscarriage, I have read online to expect a period any time between 4-6 weeks. My bleeding started 14/12, times came off meds 20/12, and the bleeding ended 28/12, so not really sure when to expect anything- I'm just hoping lol

Justawannabemam · 06/01/2022 13:15

My clinic have never asked about my cycle dates when starting . I'm on bursellin for 3 weeks and that takes over everything

slowresponder · 06/01/2022 13:21

Hi everyone Smile

I'm on day 3 of my stims on a long protocol. Unexplained fertility but after a couple of attempts indicating poor egg quality /egg count even though AMH in normal range.

1st cycle - short protocol, 225iu meriofert (3 powders). 13 follicles, day 10 scan showed 3 around 16mm and 4 slow responders but said they hoped to get at least 7 eggs. Collected 2 eggs which they were disappointed with , 1 fertilised and had a fresh transfer at day 3 but didnt stick

2nd cycle - short protocol, consultants advised i was a slow responder so upped stims to 450iu meriofert (6 powders, maximum). 8 follicles at baseline, 9 at day 10 scan. However only 1 at 18mm, the rest were all under 10mm. Cycle cancelled.

3rd cycle - long protocol. Been on 0.5ml buserelin since 17th December. Baseline scan 4th Jan, 9 follicles, lining good. day 7 and day 9 scan booked. praying that the meds do what they're supposed to do this time.

Anyone else on the long protocol?

Good luck everyone xx

Sydney1986x · 06/01/2022 15:56

@slowresponder I am also on a long protocol. This is my first IVF cycle which started on 31/12/21 (synarel nasal spray) 2x morning and 2x night and I don’t start stims until 20th Jan until 28th Jan dependant on how I respond but could be up to 2nd Feb according to my treatment plan. Xx

SUMMERTIME02 · 06/01/2022 16:15

Hi all. Im starting my endometrio cycle this month, hopefully in the next couple of days. I had a failed FET in june and i was told to go for endometrio before my next fet. I much rather have gone for the FET but i was pretty much convinced to do the test first. Anyway last time i was on 2 x pessaries and this time I've asked for lubion injections too. 1 x lubion am and 1 x cyclogest in the pm. I feel this wont be enough and my clinic does not do progesterone checks. So frustrating!

Bec18x · 06/01/2022 18:43

I'm on day 4 of stims today and had my first stims scan today. My lining was 6mm and I had lots of follicles on both sides measuring 6-8mm. The clinic have called me to tell me to double my dose of meriofert from 37.5iu to 75iu and fostimon from 75iu to 150iu and to also get my bloods repeated tomorrow and then my next scan is on Sunday. They have also told me to hold off starting cetrotide for now. Im not really sure what the concern was as didn't think to ask. Should my follicles be bigger at this point? I also have PCOS so I know they were being cautious incase I over stimulate.

Girlwholifts · 06/01/2022 19:04

Hi ladies. I hope you don't mind me joining.
IVF so far - I am currently waiting to start my second round of ICSI in February (fingers crossed). First round of ICSI was successful, however we had a MMC in Aug at 10wks. Out of 7 eggs collected, 5 fertilised, 4 made blasts but none high enough quality to freeze Sad

Had a total nightmare this time with clinics. Had a call on NYE to tell me that the clinic we was using this round couldn't carry on our treatment so we would have to move clinics. This wasn't an issue at first as the clinic we are moving too is where we had our previous private cycle. With this one being an NHS round, trying to get hold of the GP to send over the transfer paper work is beyond hard work. Just when you think you had everything planned, along comes another spanner..!
Wishing you all well on your "journeys" Flowers

Justawannabemam · 06/01/2022 23:41

@slowresponder
@sydney1986x

Hey both
I'm doing long protocol. Started 0.5 bursellin, got baseline scan in 25th.

They are going g to increase my overleap to 450 which is maximum .

This is our 2nd cycle. First time I was on 300 . Then 375 . We only got 6 follicles. 4 were mature enough. 2 made it . We put both back in but neither stuck .
I was doing lubion once a day so they are going to change that to 2. Going max out on everything I think

Good luck to you both

slowresponder · 07/01/2022 09:07

@sydney1986x
@Justawannabemam

Awww I’m not alone. Hope we all get some good embryos. I’m terrified of me not responding how I should again, I’m on day 4, maximum stims and so far no symptoms. Hopefully over the weekend I’ll start to get some before my scan Monday.

X

Hopeful199 · 07/01/2022 09:17

Hi @slowresponder, I am on long protocol too but only at the beginning of my first cycle.

Currently on day 13 of Buserelin but scan yesterday not so good. My endo is back on one side and my other ovary is not responding properly. Was really hoping to start stims this week but have to go back for blood tests to see what is going on and what happens next. Was feeling hopeful but feeling deflated today. I am 40 in April so panicking time is running out and my body isnt behaving!

Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!

BegoniaGal7 · 07/01/2022 11:25

Hi all, is it alright if I join? I'm 40 and doing a natural cycle FET this month/next, depending on when my period comes. We had a successful transfer with the same set of embryos previously, and this will be our very last attempt at a pregnancy. We feel so lucky to have had success once already but I am anticipating a bit of heartbreak if this round doesn't work. Anyone else in a similar situation? Sending good thoughts to you all xx

Frenchiepupmama · 07/01/2022 16:32

Hello everyone, was wondering if anyone would be able to offer advice.

I am due to take my Prostap injection next Fri and GCRM clinic sent me a link to watch how to administrator it but the website has been down for maintenance for ages.

Just don't want to mess this up!

Thanks in advance for any advice/tips/video links xxx

Janefx40 · 07/01/2022 16:50

@BegoniaGal7 hiya. I'm just starting a natural FET with one of our two last embryos. It's not our very last but we won't be doing any more egg collections as I'm now 44. We have a nearly 3 year old DD from our second round of ICSI. My biggest fear currently is failing my PCR test tomorrow!
