hi all I have just had a failed fresh ivf transfer we had one frozen from the same cycle just wondering if anyone has had any success with the frozen? From an unsuccessful fresh from the same cycle xxx

I had two frozen transfers. No fresh transfer as I was at risk of OHSS. The first frozen failed and second worked. All the same batch.

Lotusflower1990000 · 07/10/2021 22:06

@Twinmummy15 I was Googling and found you can either have a natural frozen transfer or a medicated I’m guessing We would have the medicated version I would like to know what changes they make and hopefully more bloods to check progesterone levels xx

@Franca123 thank you so much that’s amazing! I have never been through a frozen transfer how long did it take and what medications were you on if you don’t mind me asking Xxx

@Lotusflower1990000 I'm thinking medicated too.
I never had any blood tests done for progesterone levels. So I hope this time there is some monitoring.

I may ask to have bloods done for all the regular hormone checks just to be sure it's all within the correct ranges.

Franca123 · 08/10/2021 10:34

Afraid I can't remember the protocol or the drugs. Lupron? Then progesterone and oestrogen? It was a couple of years ago now. FETs are far easier than the full ivf protocol with egg collection etc.......

Lotusflower1990000 · 08/10/2021 11:18

@Twinmummy15 I am definitely going to ask for monitoring of bloods too it makes sense might explain failed implantion xxx

@Franca123 thank you I think it’s a shorter process too which definitely helps xx

Yes we had failed fresh, success with 1st FET from same cycle. I actually think my body wasn't ready for the fresh and was annoyed at the time that we'd wasted an excellent embryo.
Wishing you all the luck in the world x

Lotusflower1990000 · 08/10/2021 19:46

@Scottishgirl85 thank you so much so nice to hear success stories every story gives me more and more hope I feel exactly the same it’s just a wasted embryo did they change anything for your frozen cycle? Xxx

OP posts:
Scottishgirl85 · 08/10/2021 20:57

Try to think of it as just bad luck. The most likely explanation is the embryo was not genetically normal. We did endometrial scratch for frozen cycle. No idea if it made any difference to outcome. Other things you could think about are ERA/EMMA/ALICE test which looks at best timing and bacterial composition of lining, to optimise everything.

Lotusflower1990000 · 09/10/2021 14:24

@Scottishgirl85 thank you I have never heard of any of these and I have just had a Google so worth asking about it in my consultation to request the tests xxx

Lotusflower1990000 · 15/10/2021 17:37

Hey @Twinmummy15 how are you? I had my consultation today and as I started bleeding on day 7 after my transfer they believe this was due to my progesterone levels were too low so they will be doubling the amount for my frozen transfer I have to contact them for my November period to try and get booked in I also insisted on them taking blood on the day to check my levels fingers cross I can start November and have a transfer in December let me know how yours goes on the 20th xxx

OP posts:
Twinmummy15 · 15/10/2021 21:04

@Lotusflower1990000
Hey hun! Glad you got some kind of explanation as to why it may have failed.
I will keep you updated on how mine goes.
Did they say what the timelines are for FET. As in when is day 1 of starting med and how long till transfer? Is it like a normal 1 month cycle? X

Lotusflower1990000 · 15/10/2021 21:23

@Twinmummy15 thank you ❤️the injections will start from day 21 of my cycle for 2 weeks for down reg to make sure I don’t ovulate and then progesterone and oestrogen tablets from what I can remember it will be around 6 weeks from day 21 for the transfer xxx

OP posts:
Twinmummy15 · 15/10/2021 21:25

@Lotusflower1990000 omg wow! It's a really long process then for a FET. I was under the impression if I started the cycle in early Nov then we should potentially be doing the pregnancy test early Dec. So about 4 weeks.

I didn't consider that it would need down regulation Sad

Lotusflower1990000 · 15/10/2021 21:41

@Twinmummy15 I know still nearly as long as a fresh :( I counted my transfer to be just before Xmas if we are booked in for November so still such a long wait I’m not sure if it’s down differently at different clinics xxx

OP posts:
Twinmummy15 · 15/10/2021 21:44

@Lotusflower1990000
Oh noooooo! It's longer than my fresh, as I was on short protocol. Started beginning of Sept on day 3 of cycle and then pregancy test was by end of Sept. So it was nice and short.

Don't know how I'll get through 6 weeks 😪
I hope it all works out for you. If I'm on the same type as you then I'll also be due day 1 of period early Nov...x

Lotusflower1990000 · 15/10/2021 22:06

@Twinmummy15 oh no bless you I was on the long which was around 8 weeks.

It will be worth it and hopefully time flys by I always wish the weeks away until I can actually test. You too I hope you are would be nice to have buddy xx

I hope you don’t mind if I join. I also just had a failed fresh transfer last month and I’m just about to start my FET. Like you both @Lotusflower1990000 @Twinmummy15 I thought a was really quick and didn’t realise you had to down reg so it’s about 7 weeks 😭

My period arrived on Monday so I called the clinic and have to go in on day 21 which is 1st November for my prostap injection then back for baseline scan just over two weeks later.

I also bled while on progesterone 7dp5dt so will definitely speak to the clinic about this when I go in for my appointment. Xx

Lotusflower1990000 · 16/10/2021 10:24

Hi @lauradxoxo your journey with the fresh sounds exactly like mine!

When I told my consultant about the bleed so early she said my progesterone was probably too low so insist on more progesterone if you can and also to check your bloods on the day before the transfer as they can check your hormones are where they should be. My consultation told me I would only be seen once for the baseline to check down reg has worked and then 2 for my transfer :o let us know how it goes❤️ and keep us updated on your journey I’m due to start my period on the 29th October so my day 21 will be nov 19th fingers cross xxx

Lotusflower1990000 · 16/10/2021 11:35

@lauradxoxo @Twinmummy15 just been told I won’t be able to start until December now :( so 2 months behind you guys but keep me updated would love to know how you get on xxx

OP posts:
lauradxoxo · 16/10/2021 12:51

@Lotusflower1990000 aww I will definitely speak to them about increasing the progesterone then and say about getting bloods done too!

Aww no did they say why you can’t start next period?

I will definitely keep you updated it’s nice to have someone to chat to I’ve not really told any of my friends just my mum as I find it all so emotionally overwhelming xxx

Lotusflower1990000 · 16/10/2021 12:59

@lauradxoxo they don’t have availability to book me in for the transfer in December so I have a provisional date for mid January. I guess it gives me time to get a little healthier again I was really bloated form the transfer and medication and feel really fumpy at the moment lol

Aww I am the same I have only told 2 of my friends and no one else I just don’t think anyone who isn’t going through it would understand tbh and I feel the same all the questions from everyone would be so emotionally draining so would rather keep it to a small amount of people here to chat when you need ❤️ XXx

lauradxoxo · 16/10/2021 13:08

@Lotusflower1990000 awww well at least it’s not too much later hopefully you will be starting of the year with the best news!!

I know I’m the same a told a few friends on my first round and it was just constant questions and I felt so under pressure and emotionally drained with it all. And it was so tough to tell them when it didn’t work.

What’s your thoughts about alcohol before a FET? I will start down regging on 1st November but I have a wedding and an engagement party the two weekends before that. Do you think it’s ok to have a few drinks? Xxx

Franca123 · 16/10/2021 13:12

I didn't drink much during mine mainly because I was a bit of a wreck and alcohol didn't help that. But I did have the odd glass of wine here and there. I certainly did at a good friend's wedding. Do what you need to do to feel the best you can. Having a bit of fun will you do you the world of good.

Katy75 · 16/10/2021 13:21

Yes Smile. She just started school.

This may be outdated now as it was a few years ago and I know the thinking changes all the time, but my doctor said he didn’t know why the PGS tested ‘fresh’ embryo had not implanted so they were super careful with the frozen one and I had lubion progesterone, clexane, baby aspirin and intralipids.

I remember that it was so hard to have hope and I’m sending you a hug and wishing you lots of luck x

LucyLocket2021 · 16/10/2021 13:41

Hi OP. I recently had my review consultation after a failed fresh cycle with a “top” quality embryo transferred. Our consultant was very optimistic re: chances of success with our one frozen day 6 blastocyst. She said that they very often see FETs working in these circumstances. Fingers crossed for us all!!
