@MR788 thankyou for all that information. I wonder if mine will be similar as I'm on short protocol. I've seen a few people say they didn't get a prostap Injection on short and just went straight to stims

MoonlightDreamer · 18/08/2023 23:21

@MR788 if you don't mind me asking, how did you sign up to portal and fill in consents ? Was it via mobile or Web browser on laptop /computer?
RFC told me don't fill it out on a mobile as it always causing a problem and to do them on a laptop ect or it would result in a delay to treatment however the websites they gave us aren't even found . The only work via links sent to mobile

MR788 · 18/08/2023 23:43

@MoonlightDreamer I done all consent forms through the link on my mobile and i had no problems with it at all. I was never told not to do it on the mobile.

MoonlightDreamer · 21/08/2023 20:08

@MR788 oh that's strange. I don't know why they advised us not to use a mobile device .
Hopefully it won't cause any problems.

How are you getting on ?

MR788 · 21/08/2023 22:37

@MoonlightDreamer Yeah getting on ok my test day is on thursday i really hope i get a bfp. Ive been having cramps im hoping they down to the progesterone pessaries.

OhChacha · 05/09/2023 21:51

@MR788 hey did you have a baseline scan done before your prostap injection

MR788 · 05/09/2023 22:19

@OhChacha No i didn have any scan done before it just had my bloods and that done

OhChacha · 05/09/2023 22:52

@MR788 oh thankyou. Is it done on a particular cycle day ? I.e first day of period or what cycle day.
I'm currently on first day of period and wondering if that means I won't start until my next period

MR788 · 05/09/2023 22:56

@OhChacha No they will give you a date for when to get the prostap then you will start injections 3 weeks after that.

MoonlightDreamer · 06/09/2023 02:19

@MR788 how did your transfer go

MR788 · 06/09/2023 07:17

@MoonlightDreamer i had a failed cycle my AF came before i could i even got to do a test was really hoping it would work. How is all going with you?

MoonlightDreamer · 06/09/2023 11:30

@MR788 Ah I'm really sorry to hear that.
I hope your taking care of yourself.
What are your next steps? Have they arranged an appointment for you to discuss things?

We just got our second lot of consent forms yesterday so hopefully won't be too long. To be honest, I'm not feeling very postive going into it. The fact I have pcos and I'm turning 38 before the end of the year kinda makes me feel like the odds are stacked against me.
I'm dreading the whole process of injecting myself and sedation.

MR788 · 06/09/2023 14:34

@MoonlightDreamer It hasnt been discussed as of yet but i wont be going through another round i have a DD not through ivf so im just going to keep ttc and hopefully it might happen for me i have a low amh of 8.3. But have been ttc for 2 years now. I hate injections but they really not that bad as for sedation u will be fine.

Mumiialfie26 · 28/12/2023 17:25

Hi jumping on this thread as its local, did anyone have the consultant dr mcmannus? Had 2nd appointment yesterday and now a waiting game of 4 months?

Sunshine180 · 28/12/2023 18:18

@Mumiialfie26 hi, yes sounds similar to me! Is this with the NHS? We had our consultation with Dr McManus on 18th and we’re added to the waiting list and told 4 months also.

we were due to start with TFP but have decided to postpone and go with RFC instead due to the wait time being relatively short from here

MoonIightDreamer · 28/12/2023 21:41

@Mumiialfie26 is it male or female McManus as there's two working there .
We had John Mcmanus and I highly praise him.
On one ocassion we did deal with Joanne for a scan but all of our consultations , treatment planning , first scan , retrieval and transfer was done by John

Sunshine180 · 28/12/2023 21:54

Ah good point @MoonIightDreamer. @Mumiialfie26 i seen John McManus - who are you with?

Mumiialfie26 · 29/12/2023 12:26

Ignore me not being up to terms what is TFP? Its the female one I've seen on both appointments, first app was told had to loose 2 stone which did ok that was back in April then 2nd app 27th Dec, its my first ivf rodeo and not sure whether all appointments have seemed rushed, good job for Google and doing own research

Mumiialfie26 · 29/12/2023 12:27

How did you find the retrieval and transfer what were the recovery times and how did you find the service

Sunshine180 · 29/12/2023 13:44

@Mumiialfie26 dont worry at all, there’s so many abbreviations I’ve had to look up after seeing them on here! TFP is a private fertility clinic, when I first seen a private consultant who also works for the NHS he said it would take about 18 months to start treatment on the NHS so we were going to go private but it has moved quicker than that for us thankfully so we are staying with RFC for now.

I think it’s good to write down any questions you have before the appointment and go through your written list with them during it as of not I would come out thinking of I should have asked that and meant to find out this etc. Good luck for your upcoming cycle! Is it your first child you’re trying for?

Mumiialfie26 · 29/12/2023 14:22

I'd been on a waiting list for 2 years then my doctor said to try a wider choice so belfast contacted me with a cancellation and asked to attend the next day within change of district like 3 weeks, was seen in April and told 4 months but was 6, seen the other day for follow up app and given the go ahead, told waiting time around 4 months, I've 1 boy who's 13 but been trying since his birth with no luck!

Mumiialfie26 · 29/12/2023 14:23

Is this your first ivf cycle as well? Any other kids?

Sunshine180 · 29/12/2023 14:32

@Mumiialfie26 aw sorry it’s been such a long wait for you! Where were you on a waiting list for initially? I always thought RFC was the only fertility clinic in NI but maybe that’s not correct.

We got our referral done privately at the end of July so waited just under 6 months for our initial appointment and while waiting also had most of our investigation tests done and mix of NHS and privately so by the time we got our initial consultation he was happy to put us straight on the treatment waitlist without having to do a review appointment so think that probs saved us a lot of time. We seen a private consultant for the referral as our GP was totally useless and kept saying just keep trying which was really frustrating.

yes this will be our first cycle! Been trying since around April 21 so coming up to 3 years and no pregnancies. We have male factor due to my husband having antibodies that make it hard for fertilisation to happen so will be having ICSI as well. Feeling excited to get started which is probably quite naïve lol. How are you feeling about it all?

Sunshine180 · 13/01/2024 10:33

@Mumiialfie26 just wanted to let you know we received our letter this morning to let us know we are top of the list! We were added to the list on 18th December so it must be a lot shorter than the 4 months. Hopefully you hear soon also

MoonIightDreamer · 13/01/2024 13:52

That's great news @Sunshine180
We had completed our treatment by the end of the fourth month. I think by the time we completed all the consents ect we started on 3rd month.
We had some delays tho as letters got delayed in post and we had a slight delay with one of our consent forms as our treatment plan outline hadn't been updated correctly but other than that I felt the process moved quite quickly
